  1. Me wants to know too. Good interview... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Know what? Whats been said pretty much sums up the situation.
  2. When I post something on the front page and say its 'confirmed', you can take it to the bank. I do not take rumor or speculation as fact. "Confirmed" means I talked to someone official.
  3. MCA = Mr. Chris A... A title he got at some point from the old BI forums if I recall correctly. Who came up with it or why others are able to answer.
  4. > What past? The fact you celebrate 1999 every new years? > I beg to differ. The unwashed masses are perfectly ok with inferior games, which explains why there aren't that many indepth RPGs in development at the moment. So it has nothing to do with the current econ-social landscape? The fact millions were pumped into games like Bloodlines and PST and both did poor in sales? I wouldnt have much faith as a publisher to put $ into such either if I saw those numbers. Right now the pendelum is swinging towards consoles and RTS type games. Sooner or later it will swing back. Just like the EotB type CRPGs to Red Alert back to BG back to FPS/RTS... it will swing back this way with games such as NWN2 and other come out. If you dont understand the flow of the industry or you think one genere is ALWAYS going (or should) be on top you are setting yourself up to be disappointed. But in the end publishers look at sales and trend data to decided what to invest and and consoles/RTS games are too temping not to do so. If you think the gaming community does not know or understand what a CRPG is or why you like them I think you should stop treating them as idiots. Of course the majority of people know what BG or NWN or Obvilion is. Perhaps they CHOOSE to like UT or Battlefield or RTS of the month better. Your argument can easily be turned around against you. As its (in their eyes) quite obvious you have no clue about the virutes of playing Quake deathmatch and waste your time on boring games like PST. Do you think they should beat you over the head on their site explaining to yout what a idiot you are for not loving their FPS or RTS? > Rhomal, how about you won't make any idiotic assumptions about the Codex and I won't make any idiotic assumptions about your site? Its a observation. Dont come off as such and I will change my view. > More bull****. Again, its a clear observation and by the replies here I am not the only one who thinks that. Perhaps if you were less defensive and get off the 'I am always right, the rest of you are fools' horse you could see that. > We posted them, didn't we? As funny as that sounds, we can respect someone's opinion, even if we disagree, which is more than I can say about this forum. You did but sadly took them in compleate humor and lost/missed the message he was relayed to everyone else with them.
  5. And what does that have to do with the price of tea in china? I have my issues with the bioware forums but thats a compleatly seperate topic.
  6. But being told by someone that your points of view could also be considered as stupid or completely lacking in taste in a subtler way is? You're focusing on their use of profanity while missing the point of the post. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Their forums are always a no-so-subtle reminder why free for all forums dont work on the net. Too many kids on daddys PC trying to act more important then they are or people why let the anoymous nature of the net go to their head to say things they would never do face to face. Either way its not a 'discussion' over their is a screaming match and the loudest 'wins'. IMO if your vocabulary is that limited the majority of your post is dropping profanity it shows me at least a lack of debate and lanuage skills. And I have little patience for people who cant in a generally civil manor express their views without calling me various unmentionables every other sentance. The codex is a great example of a site, of what not to do. And I am reminded of such each and every time I visit it, as rare as that is.
  7. What exactly are you talking about? The problem with discussing abstract stuff is that it doesn't always give you an accurate picture of a developer. Discussing features in general, and discussing implemented features that have good sides / bad sides are two different things. The influence system is a good example of that. This interview was about Chris' development as an artist. I compared his earlier work to his later work, discussing the difference. That should tell you what to expect and why. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Perhaps, and this is just me its time for the codex to come out of its own 'vault' and stop living in the past? I have no issue you want more indepth CRPGs. ermm so do the vast majority of us, so your stance is nothing most of the unwashed masses wants. However this self important pedistal you put yourself on as if your invented this idea that diablo isnt a "real" CRPG or what not is not anything new. I see the same complaints on the codex I see on nwn2news, the bioware forums, here and a dozen other places. You just seem to think you are the official carrier of the banner because the rest of us are too stupid to ask or want or need reminding for such on our own. I beg to differ. MCA got all those cartoons right on the money. M2C
  8. You mean a substance non-fluff interview like this? http://www.nwn2news.net/modules/smartsecti...m.php?itemid=29
  9. MCA is writing the joinable NPC stories/dialog
  10. New Ferret crafting interview posted... see the front page for gory details. Sounds MMOG-ish with D&D mixed in. Very interesting...
  11. As promised I hunted down a copy of CG magazine. The bad news is the edition we posted about yesterday was not on the stands yet. The good news it the current issue had a one page (more or less) spread on the NWN 2 toolset! Lot's of NEW information, but I will, for our new community members repeat existing tidbits. http://www.nwn2news.net/modules/news/article.php?storyid=794
  12. Best... strat... game... ever... up to par with civ4 Building ships is a blast! And I only have minor issues to say as well, 95% very pleased!
  13. Hence what? If you recognize that I wasn't quoting you, then why did you accuse me of misquoting you? For your information, there was a post from Gabs proclaiming Fallout to be dead as well....and it came shortly after yours, but still before mine. Hmmmmm. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Because I am so good at reading minds... as I said the same thing. If you just quoted it would be a non-issue. Fact is you didnt and all you little temper tantrums does not change the fact you didnt and cause the confusion. Just admit you were a ham and egger and move on.
  14. All I know is if Obsidians next PC game is knights3 I will be pissed. And before anyone asks why, its because SW, as a setting/universe, is a poor, unimaginative grade B sci-fi cliche`. (sorry but any 70's sci-fi flick people turn into a religion/cult makes me squirm) On a business level it would be poor of them to turn it down and I realize that. (knights2 sold ~1.5million units) But that does not make me like it. I'd perfer if with they pump out something much more interesting, orginial PC game wise. A Shadowrun, or similar, type game for example would be a nice change of pace IMO.
  15. I said "AS WE KNEW IT" was dead. Get the WHOLE quote next time. FO3 will not be the same feel, mood or play style as FO 1/2/FO:T <{POST_SNAPBACK}> LAST I CHECKED I WASN'T QUOTING YOU <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You didnt orginially quote period. Hence...
  16. I couldnt care less about FO personally either way. I am simply stating they are going to gut, more or less, and re-image it. Is that a good or bad thing we will have to wait and see. You seem to think I am one one 'side' or the other FO wise, and that would be a incorrect assumption on your part. I am simply making the observation with new devs FO will be much different then then vision of the past. For myself, I am pretty much all burned out with fallout and all the whining about it for the past several years. Even if Obsidian did it it can NEVER acheive the expectations of the now rabid and carzed fans. Hell, if Tim Cain came back and did it you'd still have a ton of ppl crying 'its not real fallout, you screwed it up!'. Feargus hit the nail on the head when he said he was glad Obsidian isnt doing FO3 as there is NO possible way to please the fans. They will cry about it no matter who does it or what the end result will be. And I agree. Its a lost cause, and I have better things to worry about PC gaming wise then fallout, or lack of.
  17. I said "AS WE KNEW IT" was dead. Get the WHOLE quote next time. FO3 will not be the same feel, mood or play style as FO 1/2/FO:T
  18. Fallout, as we knew it, is dead. Lets just accept that fact and move on.
  19. The player client, OC itself was not that bad to be honest stability wise. However, the toolset liked to crash to desktop also the server was was BADLY unstable, would crash out after 30mis or so due to several memory leaks.
  20. Rode one of them last night... ok maybe she wasn't a lady of the night, but she was as easy as one... but I digress.
  21. Then they should cut worgs, dragons, wolves, giant spiders, most of the dire animals, dogs, etc As since they all can be ridden by one PC race or another. And its called a opinion. I dont recall I told you to agree with me, only that I disagreed with YOUR opinion.
  22. I totally disagree. The ambiance horses have are very important. When building a village or castle its very fitting to have a couple horses as background ambiance. Also you are then cutting out the horse model based monsters. unicorn, nightmare, pegasus.. etc.. So your solution is to throw the baby out with the bath water? I personally like those monsters and be happy to have them even if I cant mount them.
  23. You missed the part where nwn2 will have a world map I take it...
  24. Once again... Odds are you will have horses... just cant mount them. No one is saying horses are cut from the game, just what you can do with them.
  25. Ditto. Remember RIDING horses is what is in question, not horses as a whole.
