That may be true, but at least it had a sense of openness, this game is very narrow compared to DS1. Also the MP world in DS1 was far less linear. -

Do people care about the story?

No, this is my only account here. -
Co-op play (one in each class)
Matt-C replied to Mr. Perfect's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
Right. However, playing RPG's online aren't the same as playing FPS online. People that play RPGs online like being able to grow their character, and get loot while playing with others. Most of the fun in an RPG is upgrading your character. Haha even most FPS games now have persistent profiles/characters. So it's not even something that's limited to what was typically once only found in RPG games. -
Co-op play (one in each class)

So it wont even have an online only character server like Diablo 2, with characters that can only be accessed online for the sole purpose of multiplayer? Ouch. No it won't. -

However a decent multiplayer was sacrificed for storytelling, so not everyone is happy. So as you said your preference is to skip through this in multiplayer, why did so many of the fundamental features of a decent multiplayer need to be left out? I thought it was because of storytelling? but clearly from your post that is not the case. -

I agree, however from what I can see with the majority of games I have been joining is that everyone skips it. I thought this was suppose to be the big selling point of Obsidian? If so why is everyone just skipping all of it? -
I figured that most people couldn't care less about the story. So last night I decided to test out my theory, I joined a number of random games on xbox live and in 9 out of 10 games the host skipped through the dialogue choosing the default option every time. Yep clearly the people that were interested in this game totally wanted to sit through endless dialogue and crappy choice wheels or whatever....

This is a random RPG, not Dungeon Siege

I like how you are implying the game isn't broken. -
Everything DS was, this isnt

I agree too. I wouldn't mind some actual statistics from retailers about the amount of canceled pre-orders for this game. -
Things you liked about the demo

Seriously though, the co-op on the XBL demo was pretty fun with my brother. I don't know if that's because we have been holding out for a co-op dungeon crawler for ages now or because it's actually good. -

I liked that the demo confirmed many assumptions I made prior to playing it. E.g. How much Obsidian ****ed up the game. -

Umm... I would be impressed with the engine if it was 2006... and even that would be pushing it. -
So you already played the full game? If it starts out ****ing terrible would it be incorrect to assume there is little to no hope it's going to get better? I always thought the purpose of a demo was to showcase some of the great aspects but not too much so that you would come back for more. The story in the demo did not do that for me, are you trying to tell me Obsidian only included the absolute worst part in the demo and then somehow it magically gets super amazing after?

Me. Other gamers. I mean you can take a look yourself at what the DS fans are complaining about (it feels odd saying that since I would normally consider myself a DS fan), and it seems to be focused on mainly one thing: combat mechanics (including control scheme). Other complaints include: multiplayer (which they haven't even tried yet considering it's not in the demo), and uh... help me out here. Given how utterly bland, non-original, and boring the combat mechanics and control schemes were for the original DS games (and how widespread this sentiment is among those who've played DS - and I don't just mean DS fanboys) I feel rather secure making a judgement call about the depth and value of the Dungeon Siege franchise. I mean Dungeon Siege certainly isn't known for it's brilliant plot, excellent dialogue, great role-playing opportunities, or unique universe (as generic high fantasy as you can get). I don't want to give off the impression I didn't find the DS games fun - I did. I've even replayed them and the MP is an OK romp between Diablo or Torchlight sequels. I'm just looking at this from a critical perspective - the DS games were jack of all trades and master of none. Obsidian clearly decided to cater to their specialty with DS3 - roll playing and storytelling. I think that more than anything it is this change from a generic fun game (action RPG) to a specialised, more niche game (more traditional RPG) that has DS fans so riled. I love how people like yourself say Obsidian have focused on storytelling rather than the other key features that DS1 had. The story in DS3 is so bad it isn't even funny, which I would be completely okay with... if you know it wasn't the primary focus of the game... but it is and fails so bad at it. Then you have the voice acting... oh dear god I don't even want to start on that one. The combination of terrible graphics (playing on max setting for everything) and shocking voice acting made me want to claw my eyes out while praying for my eardrums to explode.

I found it amusing how you still list success as an option for this game. I know what you mean, it's funny how the mod are still in denial for their poor pc port I guess I'll later when the game is released and OBSIDIAN gets TOLD Don't worry they will use some excuse like 'short development time', 'decisions forced upon them by the publisher', etc. It's a recurring theme in this forum, they are blinded fanbois.

Hopefully someone in the community also makes Dungeon Siege 3. -
I'm only getting this game to grief randoms by letting them play with me for 75% of the story and then not letting them join my game ever again.
