Since he got the numbers there, and if they are the cause of his mental derailment, then there must be a different reason as to why he was there initially

That doesn't mean he was a patient though It could just mean he's a loser that couldn't make it on his own and had to return to the nest In the episode Hurley mentions that his brother moved back with them after his wife went off with someone else (and I doubt that means the brother was previously crazy)

Someone could compile a list of fixes into a faq and submit it to the various gaming faq sites (like Gamefaqs)
