  1. Check again and you will be happy to know that they are included in the soundtrack. Note, that the soundtrack is huge (it would fill 2 CDs) and I believe they are near the end of it. Plus, they are also on youtube....not that I've played them while working or anything....
  2. That's it for me. Same thing as OP when I was in stealth when I rang it, when I reloaded and rang the bell without stealth it all worked.
  3. Finally got my physical copy of PoE today. Yay! Good! Was in a soft envelope (some bubble padding on the inside of the envelope). Uhh....maybe good? Box was partially crushed/collaped from shipping in that. Not good! Yeah, I'm sure we get plenty of physical reward topics, and yeah, I sent out a message through my account, so this isn't just a whine-fest. But what I do want to know from all the physical copy backers is: -What was the box delivered in (envelope, box, etc.)? -What was the physical condition of box (mint, minor damage, partially collapsed/crushed, badly damaged)? (also, which reward did you get, because maybe they sent diffrent backers different ways?)
  4. Well, if we are going to speculate and add rumors, it seems possible to me (based on nothing, but let's not let that get in the way) that he must be leaving to replace one of the head honcho guys who was in charge of DnD who left recently. I mean, why would he leave to go to another computer game company? Going to a big company like Bethesda or Bioware would give him less freedom and control over things. Going to a smaller company like inXile would be (at best) a lateral move. He is leaving a company where he has more creative leeway and one in which he has an ownership stake in, so wherever he goes must be not just a better situation, but a considerably better situation. Is going to head up the product line of Dungeons and Dragons a "better situation"? Maybe, but it is owned by a large faceless and heartless company. But since his interests seem more in line with stories and ideas, then why should we limit ourselves to speculate just on computer game companies? There...I've convinced myself so it must be true.
  5. I am also amazed at the age of BG. I swear I remember like yesterday starting it up and seeing the Nietzche quote and hearing the music. I pre-ordered it, so I got the "Volo's guide to the Sword Coast" as a bonus, so I read through that between classes to get me all psyched about it. Granted, it wasn't the best game in the world when compared to what has come out since then, but at the time it was absolutely amazing. Things like that just stick with you, so it doesn't surprise me that I did better on that than the BG2 one (I wasn't even going to touch the Planescape factions one (I only knew the Torment ones)). Oh, Gorgon, Kagain and Jaheira are on there, you just have to spell them right. Kagain took me like four times (I swear it was Kaigan, but wikipedia says otherwise). Now I'm sort of sad I sold my original games with the boxes and instructions years ago....
  6. I wonder how many people would get Eldoth and Skie, since they were late in the game and were lesser options than others you already had. Safana is another one that probably most people didn't have. Let's look at the stats: Most missed: Eldoth (21.4% correct) Alora (21.4%) Shar-Teel (28%) Skie/Safana/Kagain (35.7%) It's only been taken 13 times, but 21% of the people got it all right (should I admit that I did?), which is saying something for a 12 year old game. Of course I played that game so many times..... There are some 'extra' answers on it too that show up as bonuses, did anyone else try boo?
  7. Beware that if you put steam on your computer, I'm not sure you can actually ever take it fully off without a complete reformat. Also, it'll be collecting data about your computer and other unspecified things (you have to agree to that to install it).
  8. I was saddened to hear about the Bioware boards going down, not because I go there (I haven't for ages) or because I was one of the first 250 people to sign up for an account back in the day, but mainly it was due to nostalgia of how many hours I was there back in the olden days. But luckily this is the internet and you can find anything you want in terms of nostalgia, and when you combine that with online quizzes you have a winner. Sporcle is a quiz site (and it is quite awesome) with user made quizzes, and they have some CRPG and gaming related quizzes on them (though not as many as geography or sports). I was digging around and here are a few that I found: Baldur's Gate Joinable NPCs: http://www.sporcle.com/games/fifteenkeys/BGNPCs BG2 Joinable NPCs (there are 2 quizzes which are similar): http://www.sporcle.com/games/Sixo/baldurs_gate_2_npcs http://www.sporcle.com/games/chrismneu338/baldursgateiinpcs Planescape Factions (not Torment quizzes though): http://www.sporcle.com/games/Idran/planescape_factions Dungeons and Dragons Classes: http://www.sporcle.com/games/DD_classes.php Plus here is the whole "Gaming" category, though some like the ones above aren't on the front page yet: http://www.sporcle.com/games/category/gaming The quizzes are user made so they can be hit or miss, but there are many countless hours of quizzing fun to be had, plus you can make your own if you have a good idea. If you make one that is relevant, post it here so we can test it and complain/compliment.
  9. While, all in all, Lionheart is a very disappointing game, Barcelona is an awesome place. So, play it until you leave Barcelona and you won't feel cheated for buying Lionheart. I actually disagree: Barcelona is an average place that looks like it could have been awesome if they put some time into it. It just appears awesome when compared to the rest of the game. Do not, under any condition, get Lionheart. It, along with PoR:RoMD, taught me the valuable lesson of waiting for reviews first. Heck, if someone gave you Lionheart, I wouldn't even take it off their hands. Life is too short to play crappy game.
  10. Very well played, good sir! (and hoping the literary allusion is just a literary illusion)
  11. Well, they just sold me on it. Of course I'll try to wait for a stability and patch-needingness report, and then I'll have to actually have time. Oh yeah, and it'll have to be good (obviously).
  12. Just played a little bit and here are my spoil free impressions: -I was weak and bought it before hearing about bugs and gameplay like I promised myself I would do after PoRRoMD and Lionheart. Bad consumer! -The digital download on Atari is great because you don't have to be online besides the first activation and you don't need the disk in the drive. Finally! -Yes, the GAME PAUSED text has to die for reasons above. Please take it out or make it translucent or take it out. -When I changed scroll speed in the options at first, it dumped me into the new camera mode (like above with the sound) and I had no idea what was going on. Luckily I posted on the official board and Nathaniel Chapman immediately set me straight. Still odd how it seems to change it to that camera mode with the first change in anything (anyone else have this?). -I am glad I made a druid and got a nice, unexpected surprise in my feat selection. You bet your ass I picked it. -Are half-orcs supposed to be bigger than grey orcs? -I am liking the swashbuckler, though I wonder why we really needed it as a class? -The overland map is awesome, better than Darklands even -The 'choose your speaker in mid-conversation' is especially appreciated, and I like that they tell you when someone else in your party has something different to say. -I wish we would get feedback if our skill checks in conversation worked or not, but whatever. -The music is wonderful. Seriously good. I like the tavern music especially. -Oh, the taverns (early on only) seriously remind me of the nice, warm, wood taverns of IE games. I half-expect that BG tavern music every time I walk in. -Why are some highlighted NPCs green and some blue?
  13. Now I haven't played Wasteland in a good...well...hmmm...15 years at least? But today for no apparent reason, I just remembered that if you get a high enough intelligence (or whatever it was), you had the option of picking the skill of "Toaster repair" or something like that. I mean, you needed a REALLY high intelligence for it. I never beat Wasteland (mostly because it was a friend's and we played it over his house), but I do remember that skill. So, the question is: Did you ever get to use that Toaster Repair, or was it just one big joke? Help!
  14. Is it because he saw the previews of 4e? OR..... Don't we have to wait until he gets to -10 hit points? OR..... Did he drop any good loot? OR..... etc. etc. etc.
  15. Di, it probably would be best just to ignore from here on out, for your own sake and sanity. You can bang your head against a wall only so many times before something dents, and it ain't gonna be the wall. I would also add something about feeding trolls, but is it trolling if someone truly believes it? I wonder, though, where they got the numbers for pirating from? It might be buried in this thread, but I am not going to read through much of the self-deceptive justification for stealing to find it. It seems that these numbers are wayyyyyy too high for the US, but I'm basing this off of just my gut feeling. But still, I'd like to see the methodology for getting those numbers out of curiosity. [Note, even if the numbers turn out to be like 10-30%, that wouldn't make it 'good'.]
  16. Just a first impression, but ACK, the names suck! Unoriginal adjectivenoun names that are the stock and trade of fantasy like Ironforge (get it, he's a dwarf!) and Duskmeadow. Duskmeadow? WTF? At least they laid off the apostrophes (I'll be I just haven't gotten to those characters yet though).
  17. I don't know this for fact, but the original reason for the even number ability score stuff is actually quite logical and clever. It all goes back to the original 3d6 for rolling characters, where the average roll is 10.5, so they made 10 and 11 the average scores with no modifiers, and just extrapolated from there. Of course, many people use point buy, and if you use 4d6 drop the lowest, then your averages are much different than that, but I think that was the original thinking. Of course, that thinking wouldn't work with other scores, since while there is basically no statistical difference in rolling a 10 or 11, there is a HUGE difference in rolling a 17 versus 18 (3x more likely to roll a 17), but they are still the same in the modifiers. Whatever, I'm looking at the stuff now. The artwork for the book covers (enworld linked to them) look like 2e books to me.
  18. Obviously, that logic doesn't hold in this case, since he is not defending every side of an argument, but instead defending one argument that encompasses everything (at least in DnD).
  19. Make sure you add that every time the voice appears, he gives you a returning frost dart.
  20. NOnonoonon, they do thiefy things, but it all goes under the skill of 'thievery' (clever name!)! But, yes, all that they've released seems to be all about combat. Don't know if that will truly be how 4e is, or just a bias in what they are releasing.
  21. GAHHH.....just lost my post...... ok....here is some 4e news.... AN article from WOTC that looks to me like it is saying that 4e is better because it removes any risk of dying from your character (how is that good?). I imagine the author might have meant something else, but this is what it sounds like to me. http://wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dred/20080220a Here is a looooong string of discussions on this at enworld. http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=21...age=1&pp=30 This looks less appealing to me, but I'll reserve judgement until I actually see things myself.
  22. [more sidenote]Yeah, during the "wait until you magically get your old powers back" time wasn't too easy, BUT....you still had your hitpoints, and you were fighting better monsters and getting much more experience points with an 8th level party than a 1st level party, so it wasn't too long 'til you were back in the game. Of course, this is no big deal in BG where you just go hunting some anhkegs. Honestly, I never saw a 1/2e dual class happen in pnp either. 15 for each 'primary stat' for the 1st class and 17 for each of the 2nd class was just insane. But with BG, just hit re-roll and reassign and you are ok.[/sidenote] In 4e, apparently, they are trying to increase the 'sweetspot' from 5-10th level (aroundish) to pretty much all the levels, with like 40 levels and each century of levels having some different 'theme'. I know I'm getting it wrong, but there is alot of crap over at enworld and I am not digging through it all to find out. So, how does that affect multiclassing? Having a more spread out advancing might make taking a couple of levels in a secondary class less detrimental to the first class, but not too beneficial overall. Or, from browsing the relatively large number of core classes (maybe that is just my impression though), are they trying to discourage multiclassing by having classes that cover everything (like the f/mu class and whatever the warlord is)?
  23. Ok, it is too much fun so I have to remind everyone that while 1/2e multiclassed characters were overpowered, dual class humans were just.....seriously amazingly awesome (and by awesome, I of course mean overpowered and not awesome). Anyone who played BG (especially all the way through) new this. I remember my 7 fighter/ lots of mage. Actually, if you wanted to have an effective fighting cleric (with more than one attack per round), this was the only way to go, with very very very very little negative to it since you get a pretty much an equivalent cleric with more attacks (same weapons, oddly), and some more hitpoints (since you could actually use the 17 and 18 con). Bioware fully understood this, and Anomen was made like this (Anomen was actually an amazingly well put-together character from a powerplaying perspective). Whatever, 1/2e multi- and dual- classing sucked, of this there can be no doubt. BUUUUUUTTTTT.....back to 4e. I'm personally looking forward to the truly wholly logical breasts on dragonborn females!
  24. You guys know that newc was (I hope) being sarcastic, making fun of all the supplementary material in 3e that came out to make you super-awesome-perfect (just like kits in 2e). But the quote above about the problem with multiclassing being the 'gish' (god how stupid a name is that), I have to say: exactly, except that isn't a problem. A fighter/mage can never be both a comparable fighter and mage as a similar single class. When you multiclass, you take the costs with the benefits. This is why I thought the mystic theurge was a joke when I first saw someone mention it for a potential prestige class for nwn/nwn2. Same with eldritch knight. But let's wander back to 4e for a second, in a related way. The fighter-mage type will actually be easier now because there is no penalty for casting in armor. At all. Is this a good implementation of a rule that was broken or a 'give them everything all the time' philosophy?
