not a surprise. i am not taking it for depression, however (anxiety). in fact, i would say that the zoloft is causing depression more than anything. i hate being on drugs and this is the latest evidence that i should kick it sooner rather than later. i'll deal with the anxiety, particularly since i know that my heart really isn't going to explode. i've also stopped taking the PPIs, e.g., prilosec, for my stomach. they weren't helping other than to eliminate heartburn, but i think made the dyspepsia worse. tums and only tums these days (though my belly still hurts a little bit). IMO, the only drugs one should ever take are a) antibiotics for otherwise incurable bacterial infections and b) advil for a headache or hangover. taks

ahhh... i got the ramen part since i was a college student once, ya know. but the "put" had me cornfused. we have a restaurant called noodles here in colorado (seen them elsewhere, too). good stuff. taks

oh, i know how to make it myself, i just wish more restaurants carried it. i eat out a lot and quite frankly, prefer tea to any other beverage. iced tea just doesn't take up the sweetness properly so you end up putting in way more sugar than necessary to get the same sweetness. totally sucks. taks

from what i gather, yes, but the digital download instapatches it once to 1.20 and there is a 1.21 patch available as well. judging by the patch list (1.21), it doesn't look like there are any game-stoppers being fixed, which means the patch is not exactly required to run (it also means that if your game ain't running, the patch probably won't help). i agree that the ability to switch characters during conversations is important. i don't think it is powergaming, however, as that is the entire reason you build parties with complimentary skills. it is insane that certain options in other games aren't available to the PC simply because he isn't a master of all trades. taks

took a xanax last night around 1 am, wife informed me this morning that she was carting the child off to school so i could sleep in, and sleep in i did. got up around noon and struggled my way to the office. my ears started ringing the other day as if i just got back from a loud concert, which leads me to believe that i need to get off the damned drugs (zoloft) for good. i see my doc on monday. ooh, i'm drinking some of mickey dee's sweet tea, which is pretty good. sweet tea is a standard in southern states, which i miss. this is the first offering in CO that i've seen. taks

i don't understand why anyone would want to be a moderator here??? taks

wow, that's pretty silly, even for you. it was because of people like rahm that the dems got the boot in the first place, now he's being brought back for round 2. and, better policy decisions... clinton's staff? right. taks

oh, and on the PS3 my son has gotten into my uncharted game. he thinks it's cool because i'm letting him play a "T" game, which is really only for "big boys," but he figures he's pretty big. he won't play devil may cry 4, even if i tell him it's ok because "M" games are only for adults and he's only a big boy. well, the child learned reading and arithmetic in about 2 months, so it is no surprise that after 2 days of playing uncharted, i'm asking him for help now. sigh... taks

soz here, too. just finished nwn2 + motb with my terracotta soldier thingy (uh, ftr12/bard1/wm7/rdd10). too easy. i'm almost not sure what to do with soz since i aint' chosen and nobody seems to care about my existence in the game. hmmm... taks

no, i think he's simply pointing out the hypocrisy of the "change" concept, as did i. i wouldn't have expected anything different, either. taks
-
um, maybe it's just me, but these two statements seem a bit contradictory. not sure how the expansions could "break" the core game's campaigns, either, unless you're talking about existing saved games, which is not a surprise. that often happens with big updates. taks

oh, and btw, obama's "change" is, supposedly, 31/40 positions filled by ex-clinton staffers... change indeed. lo and behold, complaints about NBC being biased and what did they do recently? i saw the ad, a blatant feel-good about obama, and almost fell over. i wonder who they think they're fooling claiming any sort of objectivity? oh yeah, i know... taks

my PhD advisor was actually military when he got his PhD in the 60s, and has rather extensive experience in the real world. the guy i work for now (at the school), is a seasoned consultant (he actually works for my company as well, which is how i got referred to this job). he works mostly for another local company over the summers and on his sabbaticals these days. i wouldn't qualify either as lacking in drive. i'd be willing to bet that you know who my advisor is anyway, guard dog, given that you're a comm guy as well. taks

i was subtly referring to marcus, the same guy that still thinks a $30 baseline for new games is appropriate. hehe. i didn't even bother to mention the fact the game really didn't need patching to begin with. at least, not from what i gather. back in the day, games were simply released and you had to deal with whatever it was you bought. there was no internet. if a game had bugs, you were screwed. oh, i should add, however, that back in the day we didn't also have a billion configurations of hardware. most games were played on identical hardware, i.e., an atari 2600 or a C64, perhaps an apple or one of those IBM PCs. software was developed for each one, obviously, but that's only 4 systems, not the endless combinations that are available now. taks

did anyone else notice that there is another alone in the dark? this time, the lead character is an asian, but the comments at IMDB seem to indicate it is a better flick than the first. wow, i also found this link: http://stopuweboll.org/ hehe... taks

now now, it seems my follow up comment got lost in the fray. it seems they simply added an additional mode, and when i went to the options page, it switched to the other mode for some reason. there are now 3 buttons on the bottom for the modes, btw, and i have it running exactly as i did when i was playing motb after all patches. the overland map might get tedious with an encounter every few minutes. i am using my rouge, but i haven't built up all of his stealth skills so i end up either outrunning a bunch of fights, or caving and wasting yet another fireball on the gang that runs at me. oh, and what's this 50 gp to rest in town ripoff??? sheesh, i can understand the demand argument since they are the only gig in the first town, but man... oof. as for the patching... i don't get it, what's the problem? this has always been the way the NWN franchise has operated. plus, i find it good that they kept working on the game after going gold - which is pretty much the drop dead for getting fixes/content into the release. the "patch" was not only planned to get all the non-SoZ games up to the same engine and other enhancements, but allowed them to tweak things they may have found later. i recall all the griping about atari not funding the patches with troika, and they do the opposite for obsidian and here we have... more griping? taks

ah, found the thread. they added a new camera mode and for whatever reason, when i went in to change my sound options it switched me to one of the other modes. got it back now. very odd. music is killer. the ability to switch which character is in control is cool, too. i like that the VO has sound effects in the background so it doesn't seem like they are speaking in a sound room, too (at least that's how it is so far). taks
-
IMO, the camera options just don't work. now it won't even center on the selected character. what on earth happened? taks
-
very first impression: immediately after i adjusted the sound options, the camera stopped rotating when i hit the edge of the screen (in spite of clicking ONLY that box). very annoying. taks

if there is a god, i swear he does not want to witness the travesty that has become D&D... ahem! i've got a buddy at home telling me he's getting 12 Mbits/s on his DL. i'm guessing that'll ramp down once it gets going (mine peaks real high sometimes, too, and we have the same cable service). anyway, i'm tempted to leave the orifice just to find out. the make your own party thing sounds cool. an evoker, a f/wm, a rouge and a cleric. taks ps: yes, spelling intended.

what is a ramen put? some sort of noodle thingy popular with college kids? taks

1998... wait, even the BGs were $40, right? i think i was paying between $20 and $30 for the C64 games in the late 80s, actually. taks

there's nearly always a patch that comes out with the expansion. it's required so everyone can play together on MP servers without having to buy the expansion pack. also, MoW requires the securerom release that's supposed to come out with SoZ, which means a patch for that alone. taks

at the grade school level there aren't "degrees" being handed out. at the college level, there are too many. taks
