  1. i prefer doing both... getting them to agree and then whacking them all. of course, that was a rather bloodthirsty trip through. taks
  2. in my personal opinion, bill mahr is funny, but a complete blowhard that just doesn't get it... other than that: certainly "education" and "the environment" are extremely important issues. HOWEVER, what can also be noted is that they are simultaneously two of the most political issues we'll ever know. what difference does that make? well, for starters, so many agendas are lined up on either side (or sides) of these issues that it's probably impossible to tell what the real facts are. everybody has their "side" to defend, and they do so in spite of any contrary evidence. hence neither issue will ever get the true attention necessary to formulate sound policy. oh well... taks
  3. for a while, the thread seemed to be going rather smoothly, but i'd bet we turned our heads and some massive flamorama happened which resulted in thread death... taks
  4. doubtful... their "publisher" is falling apart in spite of several popular games on the shelves. they've been saying soon for over a year. i've also heard it did not sell well in russia, which makes an international release less likely. taks
  5. what, and you think the UN general assembly is democratic? when do I get to vote on UN leadership? taks
  6. and here, all along, i thought you respected me... for the record, i don't have sou because you cannot buy it in stores separately anymore (and i'm too lazy to order it online). the platinum ed., btw, is $40. i paid that much for NWN plus $30 for HotU. i'm not going into NWN for a total of $110 just to get the danged sou piece of crap. ugh. taks
  7. oh no, you don't have to use the editor... you just use the "set current XP" command (whatever it is) and set yourself way low. then level back up with givelevel or set the XP back high... i don't remember what happens, but i think it also takes away your feats/skills when you drop it. taks
  8. no, the "demo" was actually a press release that was leaked a year ago. waaaay before it was ready. taks
  9. business locations are a matter of public record. as soon as they filed for a license, you could find out where they listed themselves... taks
  10. that's the security council, mkreku. get your story straight. the UN being "weak" is a different beast. general UN policy is not run by the security council. taks
  11. uh, this is common in any political appointment. reasonable, too. think about it... who would you appoint to a purely political post? somebody you know and trust already. the UN ambassador doesn't have any real power, btw. well, the US is one of the largest contributors (including private donations), founded the UN AND, hosts the UN... but that is irrelevant. bolton doesn't so much think thethe US owns the UN, he thinks the US should be OUT OF THE UN. and i concur. taks
  12. hmmm... you MIGHT have to set your XP low then do the givelevel command to come back up. i've done this before and there was a trick that allowed it. i thought givelevel just added levels (it's been a while since i played). speaking of HotU and all... there's a dragonlance series of fan-made modules coming out soon. i just need to get SoU (same boat as you on this kaftan... i don't want to buy the danged platinum ed. just for one expansion). taks
  13. uh, durlag's tower in tales of the sword coast (BG1 expansion)... best dungeon ever. it was the story. not a deadspot. the goal, of course, was as toturedagger, but the whole dungeon was about figuring out what the past story was so you could progress... very nicely done. uh, not really... not the same as with the OC. there is one level that requires that kind of thing (find four chains to open the door to the next level), but in general, each chapter has a different type of goal and they aren't really fed-ex goals, either. they really did do this one well (the OC bores me, too). taks
  14. if you recall, in the other thread, i agreed with both of these statements. if anything, they were probably closer to fascist since the government ran all businesses... taks <{POST_SNAPBACK}> blah blah blah, you get the last word, i know thats what you wnt' <{POST_SNAPBACK}> not all all... taks
  15. btw, have any of you ever actually lived down in florida? i have. 7 years as a matter of fact. do you have room to talk about the messy politics and horrible mismanagement that goes on? in the county i lived in, it was against the law for two council members to eat lunch together without inviting the public... this all due to "good ole boy politics." and i lived in one of the most northern counties in the state (brevard). the state is a mess and has zero concern for its children and, whether you like it or not, it's news. before you all go off on your right wing hate rants, why don't you actually find out what the facts are??? hmmm... interesting concept, find out the fact first, then whine. wow. oh, and btw, fox has been extremely critical of jeb, the ranking republican in the state... but none of you would actually know that, would you? hypocrites. taks
  16. funny, but the most popular show on fox, o'reilly, basically agreed with the judges' decisions. so tell me, given your obvious "right wing conspiracy" view of fox, do you ever even watch the danged station? or do you just base your hype on your ideology? you're a hypocrite at best. taks
  17. try more like a 100 hours... or more. so much is going on that capturing the true essence of the book on film is impossible. i get a kick out of all the "fans" that are griping about "how much this movie will suck!" it MUST suck, simply because it's not the same? what would be the point of seeing a movie that is identical in every way to the book from which it came? get real... taks
  18. if you recall, in the other thread, i agreed with both of these statements. if anything, they were probably closer to fascist since the government ran all businesses... taks
  19. you brought that up in another thread and one single point disproved your thesis. namely, capitalism is a result of free market trade, which communist russia did not have. they were not truly communist, and only were referred to that way due to western media (most likely). heck, their name was the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics... taks oops... my bad, apparently the "other thread" was the one you created after this statement... i'll leave it either way.
  20. ala "portabella" mushroom... marketese for large criminis, but oh well taks
  21. all biological life on earth is carbon based. taks
  22. man, you don't understand math very well. he didn't say it has warmed that much in 160,000 years. it varied 18 degrees in 160,000 years. in other words, it has gone up and down overall about 18 degrees, sometimes several degrees per year. within the last 160,000 years, btw, we have had several ice ages, including a mini ice age in the mid 1800 which resulted in iced over lakes during the summer in the new england area. most people say "oh, it's one degree warmer than it was in 1900" without realizing that if you slide the date out to 1930 and compare, it's actually cooler now. simple science folks. the climate changes, ALWAYS. do we have an effect? probably, though given the size of the earth and the number of climate driving forces there are (think in terms of infinite), measuring our miniscule impact is impossible. we are only responsible for 0.1% of the CO2 released into the atmosphere, btw. the sun varies in the amount of the energy delivered to us by as much as 1% each year. that alone could cause a several degree shift in "global temperatures." also, exactly how do they find out what the "global temperature" is? think about it... we don't have monitoring every three inches. not even every three miles. it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that the science behind the "global warming" scare is agenda driven. the people that back this idea had their minds made up before even doing research. remember the "hole" in the ozone back in the 80s?... oops, turns out a lot of the same folks were behind that. at least until we figured out that it ebbs and flows, coincidentally in unison with changes in solar activity. taks
  23. uh, based on what? your extensive scientific background? do you understand the difference between the concepts of correlation and causation? science doesn't work the way you think it does. it's not "well heck, they must be related." no proof that we are causing the climate to change has ever been shown. none. every "model" that has ever shown it to be has been proven flawed. study up on the scientific method a little before you make such obviously ill-informed statements. oh, btw, not everybody that smokes gets lung cancer, either. taks
  24. there's a new mod coming out that might be worth looking at. it's the first in a dragon lance series that reports to have up to 20 hours of play time... one of the main designers has actually been hired on at bioware. taks
