role-player is a regular poster here, but alts do exist! taks -
uh, as far as i understand it, the EU itself cannot go to war anyway as it is primarily an economic agreement, right? is the EU leadership elected by the people, or appointed by the states? taks

damn. not only is sand irrational, but he has a split personality with someone that is rational no less. my head hurts now. taks

a) bush is s not a PM, he's a president. b) technically, we're not in any wars under bush. only congress can actually declare war, and they have not done so. even if we were to relax the definition of war, afghanistan would hardly count. it's a small military operation followed by an occupation. nothing near the scale of what is happening in iraq right now. also, anyone that honestly thinks iran would move on iraq if some war did break out needs to take a look at reality. there's a huge difference between having a large standing army at home to defend against attack, and sending that army out to invade. sending soldiers in a few at a time to spurn revolutionary causes is one thing, but moving military force is another. iran has no hope in the air nor sea as the US dominates both those arenas. moving a large military force into iraq would therefore require ground movements, which the US can easily pick off from the persian gulf. ahmahdinejad is mad, not stupid. taks

Its all the same to me. Bias, preference, opinion, reasonable or unreasonable. *nods* is exactly why we said your pov is screwy. HA! Good Fun! not screwy, irrational. taks

combat ruined gothic for me. too bad, because the games were otherwise well done. what's interesting about this thread, btw, is the amount of time feargus spends over at the codex. when i was a regular there, he posted frequently. more so than here. i guess you should always take the fight directly to your detractors' doorstep, and if ever there was a bioware/****/black isle/obsidian detractor, rpg codex would qualify. as i recall, he was always pretty calm in his replies to even the most ardent of haters. calmer than i would be. taks

actually, no, china does not have more resources and they certainly aren't more economically stable. they may be growing faster, but they're not more stable. heck, the recent turbulence in the US stock market is attributed to fears about china's unstable economy. duh. and "hell, we owe them money" is a joke: everybody owes everybody. the US has more outstanding loans to the world that it'll never see payment on than you can ever imagine. taks

me too. totally amazed. this is exactly why i stopped playing. it was a joke. they were all "nice," IMO, but the same no matter which one you went in to. several orders of magnitude better. of course, even that wasn't enough to bring morrowind out of "the morrowind doesn't blow, it sucks" realm. taks

i started a snarky comment but realized i was totally off-base and withdrew it immediately after i submitted it... taks

i think the operative word is "asshat" for JT. what a maroon. taks edit: see, if you use asshat, it doesn't get bleeped.

ooops. i really, really need to read better. taks

immaterial, and an invalid point. iraq did attack us, first of all, though not with the same level of magnitude. the point is that whether or not iraq was a mistake, it takes time to reorganize a screwed up government. japan took 7 years. iraq will probably be the same, though their previous situation was MUCH worse than japan's was at the time of our occupation. taks
-
uh, the occupation is what i meant. i.e., we occupied them, so it is our responsibility to clean that up. i wasn't saying "worse off than before." it was meant to read "worse off than the iraq situation," but only in some respects. the taliban only loosely controlled afghanistan to begin with. they have no where to go but up should a real form of leadership appear. decisions designed to benefit him, not his country. he was beyond a menace. i forget nothing. you just misinterpreted my intended meaning. total agreement. taks

normally, 350W should be ample for your rig, but the question is where that 350W is directed by the supply itself. a lot of that power is on rails that don't need it (often), AND, lesser brands often use peak power as their metric, which does not correspond well to sustained usable power. so your aggregate usable power is probably somewhat less than 350W (which is why i always go with the antec tru-power supplies). the 7600GS could easily be stressing the rail it's on, which may also correspond to some of the the memory power. i've got a system that's probably in the same power range as yours (7900 GS, 1 GB of OCZ, socket 939 3200+ on an A8V mobo, with an audigy sound card and a 250 MB, 10000 rpm SATA and 40 GB PATA drive) with only a 380W supply and it works fine. of course, it's a tru-power supply. taks

Awesome offensive spells and wildshape forms. i use both because i like jaheira's offensive spells (creeping doom can do wonders for a mage battle), and i absolutely love a cleric's ability to deal with the dead. the latter, btw, is crucial in BG2 given the circumstances of the game. unfortunately, anomen sucks as a cleric overall. one spell a druid does not have (out of their already paltry spell list to begin with) is restoration, which is obviously necessary in BG2 as well. of course, i'm cheating through this latest game anyway since i have all the add-ons kicked up and scaling makes it difficult even with uber characters. i shoulda left the dragon and lich AI at normal. damned hasted invisible pit fiends are a pain. taks -
unfortunately, for better or worse, we put them in this situation so it is our problem. we occupied japan for 7 years after WWII. realistically, they're even worse off. even when the taliban was in charge, tribal warlords dominated local rule. agreed, however, that the US needs to get out of the nanny business. let the UN deal with 'em all, and maybe, finally, the world will figure out exactly how worthless the UN really is without US help. taks

A druid and a cleric, eh? That never occurred to me. being an avid BG2 player, it is a common practice for me because i always keep jaheira. no way in IWD2, however. taks -
well, not that much better, but better, yeah. taks

your mobo is having issues, IMO. i've made many posts to this effect, btw. mobos are probably the most unstable portion of your entire computer. too much relatively unrelated stuff going on on a mobo. taks

not all, but nearly all have a god, or higher power under a different name. taks
