It is most definitely spelled mystary, at least in this case. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yup, JE misspelled it on purpose.

I personally don't see any difference between taping something from TV and lending it to a friend... which is legal, and taping it from TV and putting it on the internet.

Star Wars will continue beyond episode III
Oerwinde replied to Eddo36's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I'd like to see episode 7, 8, and 9 eventually. Not right away, but eventually. Hopefully by then Lucas will be sick of it and won't touch it. -
It felt like Star Wars to me. The force, Jedi, Lightsabers, Sith Lords, spaceships, yup, Star Wars. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You could have all of those elements in a Final Fantasy game, but if it's morally ambiguous, then it's not Star Wars. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think if a Final Fantasy game had the force, Jedi, Lightsabers, and Sith Lords, they'd get their asses sued by LucasFilm. Why are you so upset that the writing didn't suck? Why does it have to be childish black and white for you to accept it as Star Wars, when most people have no problem accepting good writing?

Not sure, I only played one Elf in 2nd edition. The thing I miss most from 2nd edition is the proficiency system.

Well they're doing it with the Aurora engine. I'd think it would be faster to just re-write the graphics engine instead of starting from scratch. This is my uneducated assumption though.

KoToR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
Oerwinde replied to Fionavar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I think it would be a better idea to set this several years after KotOR2 rather than right after. I always assumed that Revan was mid twenties in the Mandalorian Wars, since Malak and him were friends and Malak looked so young. (pre-cybermouth). And I don't think you necessarily need to train a Padawan to have the rank of Master. Atris was on the council, and to sit on the council you need the rank of Master, and it was stated that she never had a Padawan. In Episode 3 I believe that Anakin is a special case in that they allow him a spot on the council without granting the rank of master. -
The way I see it, from the conversations with the Devs abotu the Jefferson engine(aka MYSTARY Engine), they designed it to be versatile. It doesn't have a hardwired ruleset, and I'm guessing, similar to NWN2, they could probably overhaul the graphics part of it. Voila, not obsolete anymore.

KoToR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
Oerwinde replied to Fionavar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
About the order, yes and no. The way I see it, there were two aspects that needed to be addressed concerning the jedi. One was that while most of the remaining jedi knights and masters died on Katarr, that still doesn't tell us us what happened to all the jedi children, who certainly wouldn't have been taken to a secret meeting about how to fight the Sith (Nihilus and Sion). The second was that the Exile's companions-turned-jedi needed to have a place in the story, particularly after Kreia's predictions about them being the "lost jedi" (at least in the light side ending of the story). So I thought it would make sense to put those two together. The LS Exile left his companions behind, but many of them (potentially, I know, but we need to give that potentiality some consequence) are jedi now and cannot just go back to their old lives. Meeting (and training under) the Exile has changed them, and when he leaves, they must find a new place for themselves as jedi. So I thought I'd have them go to Coruscant and begin to rebuild the order in positions as teachers and one day perhaps masters. So what may have sounded like a jedi order and a council is really nothing more than a sizable group of jedi children being trained by about a dozen or so would-be teachers who serve as "masters" though they would not even be considered jedi knights by the usual standards. In fact, that could be a plot for a KotOR 4 or 5 or whatever, when the younger jedi grow up and begin rejecting the "masters" because they never learned the "real" skills from the "real" masters and just assumed the positions when they were vacant and now won't give them up when "proper" and "truly dedicated" jedi have grown from the younger generation. After all, the Exile's companions have pretty troubling pasts (Disciple left the order, Visas betrayed her people to turn dark side and serve Nihilus, Atton tortured and killed jedi, Bao-Dur was vengeful and created weapons of mass destruction during the Mandalorian Wars, Handmaiden betrayed her vows to Atris, etc.), so they might be considered impure and unworthy by the next generation of jedi. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sure they may be impure, but they still would have taught the new generation of Jedi everything they know. If all you know had been taught by these "impure" Jedi, wouldn't you also be impure by that logic? Also, if it was lightside, chances are you , and she could help hold the new order together. -
The Anglophones thought it was offensive? WHICH Anglophones? Around these parts everybody thought it was funny. But then again, Anglos in Toronto REALLY hate French people. I did think it was quite funny though... and I am a (former) Quebecer. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well it caused a big outrage in Ottawa and many MPs demanded that they apologize and such, and many newspaper columnists freaked out about it. The thing was all the MPs and columnists were from ontario and western Canada. But yeah, they demanded that he apologize, so on the next one in New York, Conan did this big apology thing where he had a french translator. And the translator was translating his apology as "I have a small ****. My head is enormous" etc.

KoToR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
Oerwinde replied to Fionavar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
<nitpick>360</nitpick> I'd almost prefer them to hold off until Obsidian is finished with NWN2 so they can have a REAL crack at crafting a Star Wars masterpiece. Not that KotOR2 wasn't a real crack, it just sadly wasn't given enough time. -
Its a rank rather than a formal title. You don't call a General a General-ess do you?

What he said. Theres nothing really inherently wrong with anime style, its just to me it signifies a lack of creativity, because EVERYONE seems to be doing it. When its good its good, its just that good anime-style art doesn't stand out, because everyone and their dog in japan can draw like that pretty well.

And some sort of new Mega Man, Resident Evil, or Devil May Cry announcement if there hasn't already. Personally, I'm hoping for a Breath of Fire 5. Dragon Quarter sucked royal ass.

It would be neat to see IWD3 designed as a full out RPG instead of a dungeon crawl. Just using the name to get a bit of extra recognition. IMO the Icewind Dale games had better stories than the BG games, they just weren't fleshed out as much with the non-combat options. It would also be nice to know what other properties Feargus got off Interplay. Hey John, Feargus, MCA, etc. can you spill the beans?

Xbox 360 Revealed!!!! (Xbox 2)
Oerwinde replied to Bastilla_Skywalker's topic in Computer and Console
I hope the PS3 has ports for non-wireless controllers. -
Thats why you always see dubs and the voice actors say things that sound really out of place. They need to say something to fill in the space where the japanese voice actor was saying "Ooooooooohhhhhh!" or "Eeeehhhhhhhhhh" for like 10 seconds.

Anyone see him rip into Quebec when Conan did the show in Toronto? "So you're French and Canadian? So that makes you obnoxious AND dull." "I only know the basic French expressions -- like, 'I surrender.' " That was gold. It was funny too because the Quebecers thought it was funny, while the Anglophones thought it was offensive. EDIT: I posted it on my site - http://www.atomicholocaust.com/triumphinquebec.wmv Its not as good as the star wars one, not even close, but there are a few golden moments.

Either all CGI, all Classical, or Live Action with updated suits. I prefer the Live-Action with suits, but if the CG looks like that teaser poster, then CG won't be bad at all.
-
It's cool looking, it looks animeish. Which is a bad thing. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Fixed. Anyway, it looks almost Jhonen Vasquez-ish which is cool. Very good Darth Linoleum or whatever.

Oerwinde replied to jbishop3's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Well, I guess I was a tad harsh, I mean theres already 8 or 9 hundred threads about this exact same topic, whats one more? -
So it turns out the new movie is completely CG, and is due out in 2007.
