What the heyhey? I love Heat.

Why? I've never understood why this term was so controversial. All game design is an attempt to remove/avoid degenerate game play. Otherwise we'd still be playing solitaire. Obsidian seems to be taking steps to remove cheesy, useless mechanics (read: degenerate gameplay) from their project, and I cannot imagine how this is a bad thing. Further, the term was never issued as an indictment against players. Sawyer made it pretty clear that degenerate gameplay was a symptom (not a cause!) of a larger problem, which was problematic design. So I ask, what exactly is wrong with getting rid of problematic design? Again, isn't that what the very essence of designing a game is all about? If the competition were to design problematic games we'd all be playing Calvinball. I'm not picking on you, I just quoted this because you used the phrase. I understand the context in which the term was used, so it didn't bother me much, especially when he didn't comment on players. He was talking about the developers doing the right things for the game. However, I'm not a native English speaker, but the word seems a little loaded, so I can understand why some people reacted.

Applied for a new contract job (1 year) at the senior high school I went to. We'll see how it goes. My old employer also told me I'm welcome back for another contract year. It's good to have options. I wont be as forgiving when we negotiate this time. Options, I love them. I'll keep searching for other jobs in the mean time. Not working for a longer period of time is boring. I know it'll sound different when I don't have time to do what I want.

I was more thinking of dirty fighting. Of course everyone can throw dirt in an opponents eyes. Maybe he pokes the opponent in the eye. Maybe he bites his ear, lol. Moves that will surprise your opponent. Realistically though, since the thing you don't want to do in mortal combat is to prolong a fight, wouldn't everyone want to fight dirty and end the fight as quickly as they could? I understand that rogues typically have gotten combat bonuses flanking and backstabbing and other melee things that don't really make sense (a fighter with a sword stabbing a back is going to be just as stabby as a rogue, really) and I love the idea of being able to blind, hamstring (slow), disarm, etc. but I'm not sure I see it as being important to be class specific (beyond, maybe, some classes being more likely to succeed because their stats tend to favor certain moves?) It wouldn't have to be class specific, it was just a suggestion of some actions could be possible. I agree sneak attacks doesn't make sense, but I guess they have them to differentiate the different classes. Having a monk, fighter, barbarian, paladin and a rogue would mean that the classes would have to play a bit differently.

I wanted a game inspired by the IE games, not a carbon copy. I don't mind D&D combat, but I can happily live without it. Obsidian will have to live without it because they simply have no permission to use it. I think some people are reading Sawyer's comments and blowing them out of proportion. Even if there are some things he doesn't like on a personal level, it doesn't mean the Developer Sawyer will not include it in PE.

It's something that we already have seen before, like monks stunning opponents, barbarians causing fear and other things like that. But I would like to see more stuff like this. -The rouge could blind an enemy for a brief moment by throwing dirt in his opponents eyes. -Instead of fear, we could have the status effect Panic. The opponent that gets panicked attacks everything in sight, friend and foe. Or he runs away, it could be many different random effects. -One could disable an opponent, ie: if you are using a broadsword, hitting the enemy with it slightly above the ear will not do damage, but would still help in a fight. Or if a monk does that attack with an open palm. -A powerful shield bash might make an enemy fall over. -Why not have the rogue trip an opponent? I really like having the option for melee fighters to do these things. Limit it to a few possible effects per class and I would be happy enough.

Maybe I can work for you as hired muscle or as a bodyguard? You never know, protection always comes in handy.

Your song helped. After singing your song, they finally told me it was my turn! It only took 15 minutes to finish the paperwork. Guard Dog: I'm happy you're still alive.

More X-Com: EU. Upgrading my weapons to Plasma is really helping in combat, just like Drowsy said. I was stuck on a mission and hadn't upgraded weapons much. Redid it with the upgraded weapons and breezed through it. Unlocked the Psionic Labs, but have only sent one soldier there for now. I looked at the grey market more carefully and saw there are useless items I can sell. Ended up with over $650.

Been waiting at the job center for someone to talk to me for over an hour. I've been surfing the net the entire time, hope I didn't miss them calling out my name. First six months of the year have ended, lots of contractors here today.

Thinking about the future. My work contract expires today. Other than that? Watched Italy vs Urugay (soccer and playing X-Com: EU.

Now that is a weapon I could use while being drunk!

I'd probably end up killing myself if I played with axes or a knife while being drunk.

It felt like dotday went like this: it was raining for one hour and then it was sunny for one hour. I was going to take my big as... I mean my Greek God body and go for a run but instead, I decided to lift some weights at home.

Watched another episode of Arrow. Everyone I know that watches the show keep telling me it's great. I don't know, I'll probably end up watching all episodes but it's an okay TV show at most. The action parts are well done, I guess.

Played Borderlands. Just slyed the biggest creature yet. It wasn't it that caused me problems but the flying ***es that annoyed the hell out of me. I did die once, but after that I just deployed my turret, went to the other side of the creatuer and burned it to death with fire ammo.
