  1. I guess Japan makes turn-based strategy as well, but I might as well flip a coin on whether it's some animu horror or a decent SRPG.
  2. That is the absolute definition of raping an established game setting. I think I lost few brain cells just watching that demo. Agreed. Incidentally, it's just occurred to me that we've had the 'staring over the top of a gun' interface paradigm for as long as I've been PC gaming. That is a looooong ****ing time. There must surely be other, better, paradigms. Dark Messiah mixed it up.
  3. At least there isn't any story/continuity to ruin and it's hardly the first bad X-COM game. With all the mobile platforms and whatnot out there, people should really be making more turn-based strategy games. It's not like they require precise controls or crazy graphics. I'm look at you, Eastern Europe.
  4. Counter Strike: GO trailer, gameplay revealed I guess we have the usual dichotomy of "they changed it for the casuals, now it sucks" vs "it's the exact same game, why should I buy it again". I for one, couldn't care less. Morg: Ever play Doom? It holds up amazingly well despite it's age.
  5. Get out of here Flashman, you old scoundrel!
  6. You can still be the stuck up "get off my lawn" generation, they are eternal.
  7. Well, apparently it's not that time yet.
  8. Stick a fork in it, it's done. Forbes: A Eulogy for Google Plus
  9. Heroes is more self-contained than the previous ones and the subject matter(war) has kind of been beaten to death, but it's still a decent book. Looking forward to Red Country.
  10. Read Gun, With Occasional Music by Jonathan Lethem, awesome stuff. Also read Replay by Ken Grimwood it was interesting, but I didn't really dig the end part. Still recommending Joe Abercrombie for anyone who wants modern fantasy.
  11. I take it you're Croatian? This seems like non-news compared to the tons of casting and plot restructuring news we've had in the last month or so...
  12. The corporate PR is just that, who cares what the exact wording is. Sure it would be nice if they just said "we don't support user mods" and leave it at that, but it's a corporate culture thing and not going to change any time soon.
  13. I don't think the internet is going to collapse anytime soon.
  14. Will there ever be a day when the internet won't be shocked and appalled at those evil companies hiding clever tricks in their EULAs and deviously spying on them? Welcome to the future, your internet stuff will be recorded one way or another. If you're lucky it'll be anonymous.
  15. As far as I remember, the only D2 mod got you banned from Bnet...
  16. See, you learned something new! I hope it works out.
  17. Good humor is hard to do and still doesn't translate particularly universally. Feel free to make one right after you finish my 1920s horror-themed RPG. kthxbai
  18. If it works but craps out under load, it sounds like an overheating problem. You could also try blowing out all the dust. From my experience chips either die or don't, can't vouch for all the other thingamabobs on the card, though.
  19. Get some $2 Arctic Silver thermal paste and reseat the heatsink. What is this, amateur hour?
  20. I think boo needs an intervention, this is getting out of hand. You could get Human Revolution for ~$30 a few days back.
  21. The dark magic is not having anything else to play that doesn't cost money. It's called having a backlog. EDIT: If you have too much free time, play the EVE 14 day trial, that's a guaranteed time sink.
  22. No, it was beautiful, had some interesting and more mature players that I imagine roam some of the more popular games. I played on an RP PVP server, which of course helped in regards to maturity. But while the community and the setting was extremely nice the gameplay was just sorta lacking, I completely lost interest in leveling because the grinding was so horrible. But I hate mmos exactly for that so call me jaded. Yup, AoC was a bright beacon of potential in the post-WoW world, but the developer/publisher dropped the ball on endgame content and post-release support basically killing AoC a few months in. I've just read it got 300000 new subs since going F2P. Maybe there is hope yet. Which should I drop into, WH Online or Age of Conan as both are free now? I'm probably the worst person to ask this and I had totally forgotten about WH Online. Looks like you got your answer though. EDIT: Wait, what dark magic is this? Aren't we contractually obligated to hate MMOs here, save for a few specific people?
  23. Oh, free to play makes tons of money for the publishers, which is why everyone was/is moving in that direction recently. I remember something about one paying player making up for 100(or was it a thousand?) non-paying ones. This obviously doesn't mean that they're all going to succeed, but the model has obviously shown success. Free to play eliminates an important problem for the MMO developers. It's much easier to populate you servers with free players to draw in the paying customers than it is to draw in paying customers from the start, especially for sub-AAA games.
