  1. I tend to agree, goats and sheep cheeses are yummy. I enjoy Pecorino, I find all sheep\goat cheeses have a more pronounced taste. I don't think I have ever eaten unique PoPortuguese heeses, we have a strong Portuguese culinary ininfluence n SA but not around cheeses. So we eat loads of Espatada, Sardines, Prego Rolls and food like Livers and Giblets
  2. But Oz has got some very decent cheeses Many South Africans immigrated there in the 1990's( including my cousins) and you guys have a strong dairy industry and delicious cheeses available . Does New Zealand have better dairy than Oz? We see loads of NZ products in SA
  3. Maybe, but layoffs doesn't mean lack of financial reserves - just negative balance. Publishers can work with a model that exclusive rights to the IP will be in Obsidian's hands. They can work for a % from sales. Btw there are different publishers out there. Some are smaller, some are bigger. Another important point is that in the past Publishers have only gained the IP of Developers because the Dev's had no bargaining power. They had to use the Publishers and agree to there demands as they needed there investment. Obsidian with PE is not that dependant, they have generated a large amount of money that could fund the game on there own. But they could still utilize a Publisher, they would keep the IP and the Publisher could earn a portion of revenue on sales
  4. I hear what you are saying, I don't think there is right or wrong way to eat cheese. Most people people prefer the normal cheeses. As you mentioned I like the more exotic cheeses. So Gorgonzola's, Roqueforts, Old Amersdamn and any mature Cheddar are typically my favorites I love wine so I'll consider that. One thing I am excited about is being able to purchase the 4 year old Vermont Cheddar. I have only eaten 2 year Cheddar so the oldest Cheddar I can buy will be yummy
  5. I can always do with more cheese, always.
  6. http://kotaku.com/58...who-makes-armor http://madartlab.com...-and-lady-bits/ Are some of the easy to find sources. I sat in on a lecture of middle-ages armor at university and they discussed this at well with some more academic sources. That, and physics evidence. Also, I indeed think most of this worry is uneeded. Obsidian has a good track record, of both enthralling storytelling and quality game mechanics and graphics. That said, I've seen companies deviate and fall short of their potential - especially as of late. I still have hope and trust in them to make another immensely enjoyable game. Ouch Grimlorn, you didn't expect to actually find someone who does know what they are talking about. ..sorry buddy but it happens when you call someones bluff
  7. can you give examples? I personally find the whole Bhaal Child story extremly interesting and dont think it was poorly written I also don't get this, I thought the narrative in BG2 was superlative
  8. Hi All I am an unashamed Turophile http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/turophile I loooooooooove Cheese, when I travel overseas I ensure I buy Cheese that I can't get in South Africa. I am leaving for a week to Las Vegas for a technical symposium and I intend to buy some American cheeses. I have found a sweet cheese shop in Las Vegas. For those that know and like there cheeses please check the link below and see if there are any American cheeses that I need to try that I can't purchase at this shop http://valleycheeseandwine.com/cheese.html Thanks in advance
  9. There is one thing I would like to say about multiculturalism I consider myself a liberal, I am a white South African and due to growing up during Apartheid I am opposed to any forms of bigotry and discrimination. But it does seem in many respects to be one sided in certain countries. For example I travel to the Middle East for work a lot. When you work or travel in those countries you have to accept there rules unequivocally . There include points like there are no Christian churches( I am not religious but its the principle) you cannot drink alcohol in many places or seen to be rowdy. Even in the UAE where alcohol is allowed in certain bars if you get into a taxi and you are drunk you can be arrested you have to abide by there cultural rules ( women have to wear Burka's in many places for example ) You have no legal rights compared to a citizen of that country. For example if you are driving on a road and Saudi citizen jumps in front of your car, so its his fault, and you hit him with your car you will be held responsible and have to pay reparations Now we as Westerners accept these conditions as we are living and working in there countries. We don't complain. But when it comes to people coming to Western countries there are many demands that foreigners make when they chose to live outside there own countries. I have no issue with people keeping there own cultural identify but they need to learn to assimilate, for example learn to speak the local language and not to follow practices that are illegal in the country they are living in, like forced marriage. In summary my point is that multiculturalism seems to be one sided at times. Western countries must really accommodate everyone but other countries don't seem to care.
  10. I think you are misunderstanding his point. I believe he is saying that a modern, liberated women won't be very impressed with someone who doesn't care about womens rights. And I agree. This applies to almost all the women I know. Now I am not suggesting that people say they care about womens rights to get laid, as I pointed out I firmly believe that there is still discrimination against women and we should be opposed to it and be vocal about it just because its the right thing to do.
  11. I like this theory, maybe it was some godlike creature that Old Nua summoned in order to assist with his experiments, and now is trapped in the dungeon in a petrified state. What if the dungeon is a living creature that continues to expand and has a sense of sentience but in an alien way. Imagine discovering that the dungeon is not what it seems at all
  12. Trust me if you thought the DA:O Mage tower has impressive you should be blown away by Obsidians implementation of a Megadungeon
  13. I agree, his defense is positioning him as a harmless and eccentric conspiracy nut. Yet he clearly was driven by more than that and had a vendetta against the USA. So I still feel he needs to face prison time. Which he won't now, at least not in the USA
  14. Ah, but he's an English Conspiracy Nut.. You never know how an American jury will react. Too many hollywood movies with Brits as the bad guys.. I have to admit, I've known a few folks from the States who are quite schizophrenic in how they view England... One moment they're treating it all as "charming, traditional, that lovely queen" and the next its all "Rahr! Independance! Freedom! Evil England!" It can be quite bizarre You make me laugh, good points
  15. This discussion is so stupid yet you feel the need to both comment and,may I say,add some good insight? Weird that one hey
  16. People (especially younger people) tend to be very extreme in their opinions. It's either this or that, hardly ever is there any middle ground. I played and enjoyed a whole pletora of RPGs and enjoyed a lot of them (including all the Mass Effects, as crappy as the ending to the trilogy were). Were they better than my beloved BG2? Nope. It doesn't mean, however, that they are complete garbage. I agree 100%. The only point I have to make is that on these forums it tends to be older people, like me, who seem to be vociferously anti-Bioware and lambaste people that say " I like Bioware games" So what is worse? A younger person that makes strange comments as he doesn't know better. Or an older person who makes the same comments but should know better? (I think the latter )
  17. I know this point has been made in other posts but I agree with the Op. The greatest RPG I have ever played is BG2. Granted I never played Planescape and I am sure it is excellent I also want to make another point ,what I find strange on these forums is that to admit you like Bioware makes you some kind of RPG pariah for some. I enjoyed DA1&2 and the ME series. Were they as good as the original Bioware games, no not for me. But they were still entertaining and I am very confidant that Bioware will continue to make enjoyable games. We all know that the days of them making games like PE are over. But does that mean we have to have so much vitriol directed at Bioware all the time? Like it all not they have hundreds of thousands of fans that are reasonable and intelligent who just want to play good RPG. Who are we to write them all off?
  18. Okay, we misunderstood each other. I consider any discrimination against women on any level in any country as something unacceptable But I understand you were only referring to the salary issue which you are questioning if it is discrimination anyway
  19. Naturally I can only speak for myself, but I like to hope that most of the people that want to see romance make it into the game, want BG/2, PS:T etc. style romances, and not the BSN kind that has made some people have an aversion to the very idea of romance in a modern RPG. Edit: Personally I don't hate on people who like BSN romances, to each their own and all, I just think obsidian could do better with this game. PS:T romances =/= BG2 romances. In the former the romances were subtle, delicate and tied with the story. They were more hinted at than full-scale sex affairs. BG2, on the other hand, had the precursor of modern ego-stroking romances. Cheesy, obnoxious and poorly written, not to mention completely separated from the plot. They also made the romanceable characters' dialogues (aside from the romances themselves) non-existant. I never said that they were the same, the intention to Monte Carlo was that if romances get in at all, they should be more along the lines of the RPG's of old, rather then more modern games You missed the point. Romances in BG2 were much more similar to those of ME or DA than to Torment's. I see, well we must have very different memories of BG2, as I don't remember it being any where near as terrible as some of the recent romances. I have to be honest I also enjoyed the Romances\Sex in BG2. I courted Viconia, she was smoking hot I have never played Planescape so I can't objectively comment on there implementation of Romances
  20. I respect and enjoy your opinion on many topics, so yes this does help explain your perspective for me in a way that makes sense and isn't just seem as invective.
  21. Does it make principal difference that you made this comment? Somewhat yes because they were different companies ran by different people (in this case Black Isle was owned by Interplay). You are nitpicking and being pedantic Jarpie, you know what he meant
  22. Is it necessary to abuse people every time that you don't like their opinion? I also get annoyed by these negative characterizations of people by some when people suggest they want Romance\Sex. Its like anyone who wants Romance\Sex is a " Biowarian, Sexual Deviant who doesn't understand what an RPG is" ( And for the record there is nothing wrong with liking Bioware) @ Monte Carlo You clearly are an intelligent and astute person. I am surprised you are so comfortable with blanket comments about people who want Romance\Sex. I would think this would be intellectually below you. You should consider what you say about people who just happen to have a difference of opinion about what constitutes an RPG?
  23. That is true actually, I don't think Obsidian has discussed whether you can be a dragon race. I doubt it as it does seem to add a level of unnecessary complexity but who can say at this early stage of the game?
  24. Blodhemn you need to credit with me more insight and intelligence. I am a South African, who lives in South Africa but I work for a global American company. I travel overseas to work in African, the Middle East and Europe fairly regularly. Trust me when I say that discrimination against women is both alive and well in many African and Middle East countries. This is not something I have embellished, and I can verify its real as I have seen it. Now there are some cultural reasons why we see this in certain countries, it doesn't make it right but it does explain why changes to women rights can take time in some places. But we should unequivocally condemn any form of bigotry against women in Western countries, there is no justification or reason for it. Any bigotry needs to be condemned but this discussion is about the abuse of women so I am focusing on that.
  25. Nice post, accurately sums up why I also think megadungeon= awesome
