  1. I find Kirby to be reasonable and not prone to hyperbole most of the time He has a long history of being a spokesman for numerous US military institutions and he use to often appear on CNN during Trumps presidency as a guest to give his opinion on military developments and explain things to viewers
  2. What do you mean by weigh inspection, is this weight of the cargo? Do they do that so you dont unnecessarily damage the roads and what happens if you over the weight, whats the difference between level 2&3 inspection?
  3. So basically you setting a precedent to say " take a loan and dont worry about paying it back " What do you mean by " rich Americans who had loans forgiven"? Do you have a link to support this or can you clarify?
  4. I been following some interviews on CNN about this student debt forgiveness and some of the guests raised relevant criticism towards this that I think need to be considered. I agree with some of them You are now rewarding people for not doing the right thing and not paying back there loans so what about the millions of Americans who made necessary sacrifices and did pay back there loans? What message you sending This loan forgiveness is just a political attempt to pander to the Democratic base, Biden needs to do this because of current bad polling numbers. Its no different to Trump tax cuts except the Trump tax cuts did benefit the US economy This can make inflation worse, I dont agree with this. Here is an article that summarizes this concern https://www.vox.com/2022/8/25/23320825/student-loan-debt-forgiveness-inflation
  5. Wormie....Im disappointed in this post, remember the code? We always finish Bioware games unless we in jail and you dont have a gaming PC The code has been around since time immemorial, its okay to deviate from the code every 10 years or so but you dont want to make a habit about it
  6. I have been following this very concerning development and Im glad it seems to have been resolved. My opinion of the Russian military strategy almost cant get lower but I didnt think even Putin would allow this nuclear plant to melt down by cutting off power and then relying only on generators Hopefully the Ruskies dont continue playing games like this because a nuclear meltdown would hurt them as well
  7. Nice, plus there is the additional advantage of when your daughter comes to visit she can do any plumbing DIY that is required You dont have to do all the work anymore
  8. Is your daughter going to do plumbing full time, where is she studying ? I assume at a technical\artisan college? How long is the studying in the US, in SA it looks like its 2-3 years and 4 years in the field https://www.pcdcollege.co.za/plumbing-courses/
  9. Thats a good point, I dont know. I will do some research and get back to you because quality of life and happiness is important
  10. Gorthfuscious !! Stop using extreme examples and comparisons But you need those other degrees and they do have there benefits but you dont want a preponderance of young people studying things like political science as opposed to engineering or finance Look at what students in the Asian countries study to see what I mean, thats why countries like SK, China and Japan are so globally competitive
  11. The best way for parents to understand what is the most worthwhile degree or certification for there kids to study is just to look at the local job market online and see what jobs and skills companies are looking for. It will differ from country to country but there will be common skills that are in demand and its unlikely this will be degrees like some of the creative arts, political science, history or philosophy Artisan skills like carpentry, electricians, plumbers and mechanics are always useful and in demand and then STEM subjects, finance, law, medicine etc. We shouldnt be debating something as important as this when you can do research in your local job market to understand the reality of a good job and a job that offers financial growth
  12. Hopefully true, its good to have large, global and established corporations resourcing gaming. Look at Microsoft and there prudent acquisitions We will still have indie developers and smaller companies but Amazon is a solid company and there cloud networking works well
  13. The degrees changed when I was at University but I didnt mean subjects like engineering, finance, law, medicine, computer science Here is link but any degree like public relations, diplomacy, political science, philosophy etc. All degrees mean a person has studied for at least 3 years and that must be recognized but there are very few jobs in SA in these fields and there are too many people who study them https://www.bachelorsportal.com/search/bachelor/social-sciences/south-africa/page-2 And @alanschu cant be more wrong, in SA you are suppose to go to University to get a degree and get a job. Thats how we suppose to transform and sustain our economy and address inequality. He is well meaning as usual but his view is coming from the privlidege of a first world country where I assume its not a big deal if you dont work Subjects like history and politics dont help much
  14. I cant say for the Oz experience but in SA we have people who have creative\arts degrees like social science and there are no jobs for those skills. So getting any degree doesnt help if there are no available jobs in that field in a particular country We need more artisans like plumbers or diesel mechanics and not people with marketing or political science which are basically useless Yes that would be better
  15. So what happens in Finland if university students are failing a particular course in year 1? Dont you have students who fail and dropout and then what happens to the education loan from the state, is that written off?
  16. I watched the first episode of House of Dragons and it was excellent, I am looking forward to the rest of the series
  17. They need to do the same thing in SA, its the only way to ensure the system isnt abused So in the US I assume the loans would be provided for year 1 and if a student is failing they have to leave at the end of year 1? If so do they need to pay pack the year 1 loan?
  18. https://www.euractiv.com/section/global-europe/news/putin-signs-decree-to-increase-size-of-russian-armed-forces-by-137000/ More Russian soldiers for the meat grinder
  19. University education? It shouldnt be free if students abuse it and arent committed to complete there degree because most countries will have limited spaces at universities and you dont want someone wasting state resources if they lack the real interest and discipline
  20. Education loans should only be structured with low interest rates if students pass first time or pass at all If the US education loan system is anything like SA its a disaster, we have some students at university for 4-6 years failing constantly and refusing to leave taking full advantage of the student loan system and preventing deserving students ,who will study, from participating
  21. Its terrible how you Serbs are always getting betrayed, just like Kosovo and Bosnia
  22. No it wasnt a joke, I mentioned before WW1 is one of events in history I have studied and collect books on. One of my SA great grandfathers died during the Somme offensive and 2 of my UK great grandfathers died, one in battle and one from disease The famous battles like Verdun and The Somme took place over months and there were several clashes that each one consisted of where sometimes different sides had success and then were overrun later. And sometimes individual battles took 1-3 days like Delville Wood, part of the Somme offensive, where thousands of South Africans died https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Verdun https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Somme So the various campaigns on the Western Front of WW1 were not just about people charging across no-mans land and getting annihilated by machine guns. That was just the result in some battles in the beginning of some campaigns Land battles in WW1 will be much more strategic and interesting than naval battles IMO ...much more interesting WW1 is still for me the most significant and momentous war of all time
  23. Yes Serbia played a significant role in the beginning of WW1 but not in main trench warfare battles which the game will be based on
  24. No way Gorthfuscious. Battles like Verdun, the Somme offensives and Ypres will make for much more exciting battles than the WW1 naval ones
  25. I had to update something about Krugman, some of my family members mentioned he is ostensibly one of the worst economists to follow because he has been wrong about lots of predictions It doesnt mean he is always wrong but its worth considering https://www.bizpacreview.com/2020/11/17/is-paul-krugman-the-worlds-wrongest-economist-997142/
