  1. I always find it interesting when the typical response to some issue of inequality is something like "no need to stress or make a big deal about it, there must be a reason for it. SJW just need to stop making an issue about something that is not an issue" It makes me wonder if that response would be the same if you were the particular group that was the target of a particular instance of inequality in a game. And this is not necessarily directed at your comment Keyrock but more of a general observation to the standard response I hear from some people
  2. "Oh.. and we got married! (Not the dog, my fiancée)" Nice one GD on the marriage And good effort on finding Tommy a prospective companion
  3. Oh wait, you right. My bad that's not Bester ( I think)
  4. ... how did you come to that conclusion? Bester is really just being dismissive of any suggestion around inclusivity for the entire fanbase. Don't take it too seriously
  5. Makes sense, anyone who doesn't understand the D&D ruleset would be at an initial disadvantage playing games like BG1
  6. I have been researching this issue, it seems that David Brat ran his campaign primarily on an anti-immigration perspective? With the changing demographics in the USA and the increasing numbers of Latino voters I find this type of strategy anachronistic, surely this can't be a sustainable policy for Republicans going forward or am I missing something?
  7. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2014/06/12/assassins-creed-unity-characters/#more-212773 I am glad you raised this issue Bryy. I thinks its a disgrace. If you read the link I provided you'll see how Ubisoft has been caught out when they said "having female characters is too much work"" Please see my response to this above. Although we can't truely know everything because, hey, we're not on the dev teams for any of this. Okay I am not sure we are disagreeing with each other and yes because we don't actually work at Ubisoft we aren't privy to the real reason there aren't any female character options in the game. This shouldn't stop us speculating though and doing some research on the issue? Malc what if time pressures weren't the real issue but the fact that some people at Ubisoft are appealing to a certain demographic? Would that bother you, I know how seriously you take issues of gender equality. See the quote below from RPS "Case in point, former Ubisoft lead animator (including on Assassin’s Creed III) Jonathan Cooper chiming in to observe that “In my educated opinion, I would estimate this to be a day or two’s work. Not a replacement of 8000 animations.” Even more damning if rather less specific is “Man, if I had a dollar for every time someone at Ubisoft tried to bull**** me on animation tech“. Cooper, now at Naughty Dog, has said a few more fascinating obesrvations on the matter, and the general issue of male vs female animation, over here. I do wonder, with my cute little tinfoil hat on, if that’s got something to do with the abrupt change of tune coming out of Ubisoft overnight"
  8. I think the point is that as the number of players/playable characters increases, the omission becomes more noticeable and jarring. In single-protagonist titles it's all rather arbitrary, but with four-player co-op such as in the new AC game, variety becomes more appreciated. By the time you get to larger scale multiplayer games like Unreal Tourney it's an expected feature, and attempting anything else in an MMO would be a ludicrous concept. Females make up 48% of the user base. Ubisoft continuing to unapologetically chase the old demographic is incredibly insulting. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2014/06/12/assassins-creed-unity-characters/#more-212773 I am glad you raised this issue Bryy. 9. Don't forget using the services of hookers and driving people over in the streets, I typically play a hard core gangster type in GTA games with very little respect for law But I'm sure you don't factor in race, gender or religion into who you steal cars from, who you murder, who you drive over or what hookers you use so that you're still a bastion of (lawless) equality. 100 % correct
  10. Don't forget using the services of hookers and driving people over in the streets, I typically play a hard core gangster type in GTA games with very little respect for law
  11. Oh my hat !!!! I cannot tell you how excited I am that GTA V is finally coming to PC !!! This is the best PC news I have heard in ages
  12. Nice, Malc I imagine you will have Geralt spending loads of time in the brothel district ?
  13. I agree, a power vacuum was created when the West pulled out. And as I mentioned the violence is caused by the marginalization of the Sunni minority in the new Iraq, this is not a fault of the West but how the current Iraq government has managed inclusivity in the new government
  14. TW1 certainly made it known that silver was not always the way to go against monsters. Aside from the often pretty clear difference in effectiveness it was also listed in the book you could buy that described the monster which sword and stances were most effective. Dunno about TW2 though since I didn't manage to finish that one (which I need to fix before TW3 is released, so I still have time ) You naughty boy, I can't believe a hard core and committed RPG fan like you hasn't finished one of the great RPG like TW2....but as you said you do have time before the anticipated launch of TW3
  15. The rise of ISIS in Iraq and Syria is something I raised a while ago http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/64935-the-rise-of-isis/?hl=isis In summary parts of the Sunni community in Iraq have felt marginalized by the Shia dominated current Iraqi government. This has lead to them aligning with more fundamentalist Sunni groups like Al-Qaeda and now you have the creation of ISIS which is destabilizing Iraq and weakening the Syrian rebels in there campaign against Assad We should care as a politically tumultuous Middle East is not good for any country in the world because of the impact to oil production and obviously the humanitarian issues that come with civil wars Also there is the reality that if the West hadn't invaded Iraq we wouldn't have the likes of ISIS in existence at all so there is some level of responsibility that some Western countries need to recognise
  16. Hang on! Are we the kind of people that vie for games on the basis of whether they are in fashion or not? I have the definitive feeling that the answer is "no". "Hey! This game is in now." "Yay! It's so rad!" Yeah and considering this website is mostly frequented by people who are excited about the reality of an old school, isometric RPG based on games from 10-12 years ago I am surprised how anyone can have an issue with any modern game that has similarities with a game like Skyrim that was released 3 years ago
  17. I must be missing something but what is the issue again if DA:I reminds people of Skyrim?
  18. I think you're confusing romance and casual ploughing. Romance and casual ploughing can be terms that are interchangeable. I am supportive of both in RPG for different reasons but I do think they have some similarities
  19. Nice trailer and it only adds to the excitement of this games release. Keyrock its also good to see you asking questions around Romance, this is the level I want all fans of RPG to get to where we assume Romance will be part of the RPG journey. You can see in the example of the video where it would make perfect sense to Geralt and his own experiences, especially where he says " I'll be back later to check on things"
  20. So for me this trailer highlight everything I expect from an RPG. These include exciting combat, different monsters, varied combat strategies, interesting and aesthetically pleasing Romance options, gripping narrative and mysterious lands to explore. So this trailer is a definite winner
  21. Wow that is a very and harsh and unfair comment about your home country, didn't they get to the finals in the last world cup. They may not have won but doesn't the journey matter?
  22. For a country like my own, the Netherlands, leaving the E.U. would be like cutting off your own leg. We're a trading nation in the heart of Europe, it would be absolutely stupid. Yeah you are correct Jadedmeister, leaving the EU will spell economic doom for the Netherlands as all your important exports like clogs, Old Amsterdam Cheese and weed will be impacted.
  23. Nonek faced with all this empirical evidence I am hoping that you and others come to an inescapable conclusion " The great avalanche of Romance in RPG is upon us, let us embrace it with open arms "
  24. Yeah, at the moment this is my most anticipated game for the next 12 months, its ahead of both PoE and DA:I
