  1. The US tried the carrot approach with Cuba with Obama in 2015 and it was predicted by several Republicans that giving the Castros recognition, and lessoning of some sanctions, without seeing concessions and Democratic changes would not make a difference to the oppressive regime It didnt make a difference so the Trump sanctions must stand until their are Democratic changes Biden should be supporting the protestors as they want to see changes and more rights within Cuba. He needs to ignore the socialist element in his party if he wants to be consistent now with the view " Democrats care about freedoms of Democracy and human rights " Its not an unreasonable expectation
  2. You make me laugh, I admire your laconic, truthful and appropriate comments Its an incredible RPG, it was one of the first RPG where I used both realistic and lore friendly adult and non-adult mods I remember in the beginning you can follow a certain path to get to NV town and it was a harrowing and difficult journey where I was chased at the end by a pack of Deathclaws....I let my follower die so I could escape Their are so many exciting quests and areas to explore outside the main quest and so many interesting factions to meet and interact with. And my Mods added some brilliant new creatures and mutants But I can understand why you wouldnt enjoy it if you suffer from any nausea, makes sense and I also would avoid it
  3. What again !!! Gfted1 I cannot belive how you have disappointed twice in 24 hours.....the first time was where you didnt confirm you can create some sort of DIY " spirit trapping " box....now this But its not your fault because Gorthfuscious started this ...this... RPG heresy when he openly admitted " I havent finished F:NV "., remember he did say that. But then he gave a valid reason which normally is very hard to do with this type of behavior. I went back to reread his reason just to be sure and its rock solid....he was moving between countries and I know he really has moved internationally more than most and it can very disruptive and hard to stick to your normal routine when you move. So he gets a pass But what are your reasons for not finishing this game and not getting very far and please go into as much detail as possible ?
  4. Thanks for sharing, Germany needs to explain this and not sell any arms to Kosovo because the question has to be " why does Kosovo require weapons " ?
  5. Was this done illegally or through the normal legitimate buying of weapons that countries are allowed to do? And is your concern with this that this could encourage violence with Serbia? If so I share that concern
  6. Touche, they are human. Thank you for correcting me Gorthfuscious
  7. Again that is not what the article explains, their is no credible evidence because the Congo is a vast, unmapped jungle that is only sparsely populated by remote tribes. Its not like the Loch Ness which has been mapped and is tiny compared to the Congo. Its like the Amazon Jungle where their were tribes discovered that had never interacted with humans before So you cant use an argument we would need to confirm hundreds of them to keep a population alive because we dont have resources to have confirmed this because man has not mapped the entire Congo accurately like the Loch Ness . Its the same as the Coelacanth, it exists and its real but we dont know the exact number because of how rare it it, that doesnt mean it doesnt exist
  8. No need for sarcasm when these things can exist based on science and the evolution of different forms of life in the world , read my link on the Congo
  9. Yes I agree about the specific example of Loch Ness, their arent the resources in the Loch to realistically sustain such a creature. Which is why I framed the point as " like Loch Ness " because this is not the only example of similar sightings throughout the world. For example in the DRC in Africa in the jungles of the Congo people have been talking about a dinosaur like creature sighted for hundreds of years by different people. And this remote area can easily sustain such a beast unlike Loch Ness. Read the link below that discusses this, its very interesting https://www.icr.org/article/search-congo-dinosaur/
  10. I agree that all examples of supernatural phenomena can often be explained and dismissed due to different forms of psychosis or other scientific explanations but this doesnt apply to all examples of this type of phenomena So for example lets take the sightings of Bigfoot and the Yeti. If you follow the science of paleontology and similar sciences you will see that man as we know evolved from a certain subset of a primate like creature ( we didnt technically evolve from monkeys we see nowadays but their are similarities ) Also their were other similar evolutionary tracks throughout the world from primates that died out but we survived to eventually become the humans we are today. Neanderthals for example didnt survive but lived amongst side our ancient ancestors https://www.scienceabc.com/humans/neanderthals-vs-homo-sapiens-different-species-or-subspecies.html But their were several subgroups of potential humans so the reality of Big Foot could be from one of these groups that survived but didnt evolve in the same way. They survive and live in remote areas like the Himalayas and remote places in the USA And why cant that apply to creatures like Loch Ness? We still discover prehistoric creatures that existed 60 million years ago like the Coelacanth that we thought was extinct ? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coelacanth So I tend to separate Ghost sightings and hauntings which lack any scientific evidence or proven historical existence from the possibility that Big Foot could be real
  11. What !!!! I thought it was mandatory for all Obsidian forum Moderators to have completed F:NV !!! You cant earn such a high paying salary as a Moderator and not have completed this game, quickly edit your post and delete my post because we dont want you to get fired...we like you
  12. You make me laugh " It was cringe worthy. People running around with shaky-cams trying to recreate the Blair Witch Project atmosphere " Yes I have gathered you are generally an agnostic, basically my entire SA family are agnostic. I am the only Christian\religious person but I believe in evolution as well. I know this sounds like a contraction but its not for me. For example I know the earth is older than 6000 years old and I believe that man originally came from Africa hundreds of thousands of years ago so I dont get into arguments around the facts with people around these topics. But I do believe in most of the New Testament and that Jesus died and was resurrected. I also believe our sins can be forgiven if we work towards real absolution and I definitely believe that we are more than a physical body and a soul or similar thing exists even though I cant prove it ...and I do believe we will get judged when we die and our choices in life will have consequence I know it sounds strange but I am comfortable with this Do you believe in things like the Loch Ness and sightings of Big Foot?
  13. This is a very interesting and long overdue development IMO the effective clamp down on these types of criminal cyber-espionage groups would have to have come from Russia. The CIA is effective but it has limited resources within the borders of countries like Russia and China to implement this type of change Putin is well aware of how this looks for Russia and has prudently acted against them because this became an irrefutable justification for additional sanctions and consequence from the USA if these groups had continued to act with impunity within the borders of Russia You see their is a difference between state sponsored cyber-espionage and groups like REvil so hopefully this continues and if so well done to Russia for acting
  14. I can understand your annoyance at the lack of accuracy and respect for this terrible tragedy that happened in NZ and directly impacted the people of NZ. We experience similar things in SA, we had this terrible shooting incident at a mine called Marikana and some people also misrepresent this event and push conspiracy theories around this so I can really empathize But to be honest the Hollywood dramatization of this event is to be expected because a few things do need to be tweaked so it appeals to an overseas audience And in this case I am sure this is part of the overall campaign of the left to bans guns or at least reduce the availability of guns with all the mass shootings in the US. So if you consider the final vote in NZ and the outcome that is at least accurate and sends a message to parts of the USA that basically says " look here is a country that had 1 mass shooting and they acted quickly to implement gun restrictions " So I think the intention of the movie is well meaning but its audience is not intended for NZ but rather the USA and other countries I dont think its going to change much in the US around this debate but I will definitely watch this movie but I will at least be aware its not 100% accurate so thanks for the link
  15. It sounds like people on this forum dont believe in the possibility of ghosts, hauntings or spirits trapped in this earth? Gorthfuscious have you ever watched shows like Ghost Hunters and Holzer Files? Personally I have never encountered or experienced anything supernatural so I cant say its true or not true but these shows are dedicated to constant filming of supernatural developments so can anyone say with conviction its not true and dismiss it ? https://www.officialghosthunters.com/ https://www.travelchannel.com/shows/holzer-files
  16. You 100% right, I didnt realize you had played this game before. I will definitely be considering the other games in this series after this The writing is captivating and funny and the game world unique with lots of lore that I know nothing about so its always interesting to read about ports I find One of the single most rewarding features in the game for me is when I sail into the deep, deep, dark sea and I can see no lands and then suddenly I discover a new land ....its exciting, I feel like a real explorer and this is even more rewarding when I am low on some sort of resource
  17. I refuse to accept a man of your prodigious DIY skills would be scared of a simple spirit....you one of those people who could make some sort of " spirit trapping " box and take on that apparition
  18. Well instead of burning the house down, what about your loan and money you may have invested, you can also arrange a cleansing ceremony or similar practice that allows restless spirits to move on. Because end of the day most hauntings are about that, a spirit that doesnt know its dead or died in a traumatic way and needs help to move on. Once the spirit is gone the house will be fine to live in http://www.spiritualcoach.com/spiritual-house-cleansing/ https://news.remax.com/is-your-house-haunted-a-medium-shares-how-to-rid-a-home-of-ghosts
  19. Do you get white, fruit privlidege? Surly you do
  20. That is an interesting point ....I wonder ? I know in Florida they passed some state law where Trump cant be arrested or something similar for charges he was facing in NY
  21. Well their isnt really an incorrect way to use rubber bullets, they get used instead of normal bullets as they considered non-lethal and 97 % of the time they dont kill people but are suppose to hurt and knock them down. But sometimes like the link I posted a rubber bullet can kill you https://www.rt.com/news/413622-rubber-bullet-fatalities-ucberkeley/
  22. Okay you are misunderstanding several things about the points I have made and even though I feel I am repeating myself again I will do it in the interests of clarity. And I think this is an important debate and I appreciate your feedback I have no issues with peaceful protests, I have issues with violent protests. Do you support protests where protestors kill security guards, police and loot shops and burn malls ? Can you answer this question so I understand your view This is not about race so please try to understand this, if white people or Mexicans or Mongolians were protesting I would have the same view. I dont support violent protests....peaceful protests are fine and allowed in most of our Constitutional Democracies. Rubber bullets and water cannons shouldnt ever be used on peaceful protests...why would they need to be used when the protesters are not destroying things or attacking people ? I realise you dont work in the financial sector or have studied economics so some of what you saying is more about me not explaining properly or you misunderstanding what I am saying. So I need to cover some of your points which are valid concerns When you have a province in any country that contributes 60 % of GDP and within that province their is looting and burning of businesses then it creates a huge negative impact to the overall GDP of the country so yes its relevant to overall economic transformation and how any country can address goals like reducing inequality and job creation. So this has nothing to do with protecting the rich, this is about the overall ability of any country to have a sustainable economy ...and most important uplifting the poor. The rich will survive this, its the less wealthy that will suffer when businesses close down as people have now lost their jobs ....thousands of South Africans, mostly but not all black people, no longer will have a job. That is the reality and only outcome from this looting and violence The point about the mines and unions is not primarily about the wages people are asking for. Its the protracted nature of the protests, the violence and the demands. Lets take the Marikana strike that went on for 3 months before the shooting tragedy. During that time their was no work...as in no mining going on. With sectors like mining because of the reality of how you extract commodities and how you need monthly quotas extracted and sold that means Lonmin cannot make its target end of the year so basically they fail to be profitable which means investors sell shares and the entire company suffers. That means the company starts running at a loss and to rectify that for the next financial year you have to make structural changes to the overall company ....which basically means retrenchments. Thats how all listed companies work and how all investment works because no investor is going to invest in any company where their investment loses money. Why would you ? So a protest for 2 weeks with reasonable demands you can absorb but no company can survive or be profitable if for 3 months their is no work and no revenue stream And if you dont agree with the principle of profitability then you cant ask or expect salary increases or bonuses because how is the company suppose to pay for these things if its running at a loss You seem to justify violence and looting with the French Revolution example, its not a very accurate comparison to any country in the year 2021. That was about an absolute Monarchy with a clear class divide of real nobles and peasantry and the poor had no rights and no way to change their economic status, people were born into positions of wealth and they didnt have to work to keep that privlidege . That is not how any Constitutional Democracy exists nowadays because even people born in poverty can get an education, get a job and change their economic status...but you need a job at least and a sustainable economy. And finally I have a white collar job, why would I want to work in a mine? I wouldnt survive 2 days with the physical burden that job entails. That has nothing to do with me supporting peaceful protests and being opposed to violent protests
  23. No thats not it at all and I thought I had been clear on this in my explanations of the ongoing violence in SA I have no idea what you mean by the HK protests, my view on that is and was critical of what is ongoing in HK because the system of Democracy has been destroyed by the CCP. And I will never support the erosion of Democracy In SA we support protests, its in our Constitution. But I dont support violent protests, looting and the torching of malls which is ongoing. Its incredibly simple to understand and the current violence is primarily about the destruction of black businesses so this has nothing to do with ....black wages, its criminality So I dont know how you come to the spurious conclusion I support police states, maybe you can clarify how you came to that view ? I support the rule of order being enforced in any Constitutional Democracy in the world. I am unclear why anyone who lives in a country who has a similar system of government would disagree ?
  24. 15 hours into Sunless Sea and loving it even more I had this exciting journey where I ended up sailing far into the unknown lands of the southern seas but I didnt have enough fuel and food, or money, for the return voyage. So I ended up resorting to cannibalism and sacrificing some of my crew to the various gods of the sea hoping for divine assistance ...and it worked, I received fuel and was able to just get back to London with lots of things to sell Absolutely entertaining experience
  25. Another nightmare outcome of this violence is citizens in suburbs in the targeted provinces have formed their own militias to protect their homes and businesses My sister was telling me that in an area called Hillcrest where one of my brothers live is that on the streets their are large groups of armed people determined to protect their homes and families This is one of the absolutely justified reasons for citizens to own firearms because similar to the debate in the USA citizens have a right to protect themselves. The difference in SA is the " enemy " is not concern with Federal government overreach but rather what happens when your security forces cant protect its citizens from brazen violent mobs intent on mass looting of business and peoples livelihoods And the looting and destruction of shops is worse in all our black townships
