  1. @Pidesco Good news, the SONA speech had some worthy ideas. Amongst other things government is going to continue to decriminalize cannabis and ensure it becomes more business focused , I have always said this should have been done years ago
  2. We had corporal punishment up to grade 12 and you got canned up to 6 for various things like fighting, being disruptive and rudeness to teachers I never got more than 3 and it was all related to being noisy in class and similar things. But we had a sense of fear and respect for the rules of the school. And its a good fear because it teaches you consequence for your actions
  3. You right, whataboutism is never really helpful But in SA these political commentators say we are worst country on numerous levels like we are the most unequal society in the world and thats demonstrably untrue and ignores things like free housing, services and social grants that our government provides and tries to provide and all these social services are almost non-existant in most African countries So when you criticize your government you shouldn't base that comparison on inaccurate information about the state of other governments. Just base your negative views on the proven facts and or failed policies within your own country
  4. Tonight its our State of the Nation Address by our president It will much of the same, well meaning promises and goals and our media and political commentators blaming the president for all our woes when in fact not many citizens take personal responsibility for our numerous societal shortfalls and not supporting government when they want to fix things like critical retrenchments in the public sector and SOE (state owned entities ) which have become one big hole requiring yearly bailouts amounting to billions of rands And then some political commentators talk about how terrible the SA government is and how bad our economy is....they clearly havent seen the quality of life in many other African countries or the ME
  5. Especially since in many schools corporal punishment has been outlawed, back in my day you had discipline and kids respected teachers @Hurlshot You teachers should protest and demand corporal punishment is allowed, that will address many problems
  6. Good tips can be better than salary\wages, I never knew you were a male dancer? It must be an interesting job where you interact with lots of unique personalities
  7. About 25 years ago my dad and stepmom went on a second honeymoon to Greece and after a delayed trip they got to Paros, hired a car and were looking for somewhere to eat lunch while sightseeing They saw a large house with a patio outside and tables setup and several cars in the parking area. They got out the car walked to the patio area and sat down, they also noticed another group of people sitting at another table and a man, the hotel\restaurant manager, saying to the other people " I have arranged transport " But the service seemed really bad and it took over 5 minutes before the manager came to their table and said " how can I help you "...the conversation went like this Parents : Can we get some coffee Manager :Sure, what coffee do you want? I have Turkish, American, Greek etc. Parents: Anything, we just want coffee He brought out coffee with this delicious homemade cakes and since it was clearly quiet he started chatting to them about where they from and what they doing in Greece. It turned out this managers dad knew SA because his dad was stuck in SA during WW2 and they ended up having a 40 minute friendly chat about life and travels But at the end of the chat the conversation went like this Manager: Oh, by the way this is not a restaurant. This is my private home Parents : What !!! But who were those other people sitting at that other table Manager : Those were friends who had been staying with us My parents nearly died of embarrassment for assuming this was a restaurant but they all had a great laugh about it and they left on very good terms with the home owner How is that for "white, male privlidege "
  8. Melkie did I ever tell you about my dads second honeymoon to Paros Island and what happened ?
  9. That has got to be one of the strangest reasons to not game anymore " Im too old ".....its a hobby, you never too old Its like saying " Im too old to read a book ". You may not have time anymore or your interests may change but you never too old to game
  10. Melkie!!! Im shocked, I though you were opposed to the right-wing....now you playing Sex with Hitler games....Im so shocked your have almost negated my garrulous nature ( whats it like by the way...its for a thesis Im doing about...adult games )
  11. McConnell is one of the good guys in the GOP and I imagine he will get censored and criticized by the Trump supporters But Pence also finally found some integrity when he publicly stated " he had no ability to overturn the 2020 election " on Friday and several prominent members of the GOP agree with him https://www.cbsnews.com/news/hr-mcmaster-pence-trump-2020-election-face-the-nation/ It bodes well for the likely victory of the Republicans in the midterms because hopefully the GOP will have moved meaningfully beyond Trumpism
  12. It really annoys me when people use the Apartheid card when something has nothing to do with Apartheid
  13. Yes he means they not Neo-Nazis right wing
  14. The truckers are right wing?
  15. Jordan Peterson has made several convincing videos about how the liberal media is incorrectly labeling all the protestors as right-wing and ignoring the original issues raised by the truckers I agree with some of what he says but what doesnt change is the protesters are asking for something that Trudeau cannot agree to because its decided by the states so the entire original protest to "end mandatory vaccination requirements between states" cannot be achieved through this protest. That makes the disruption to peoples lives and shutting down highways as illegitimate and the Canadian security forces need to intervene
  16. Anyone breaking the law and involved in criminality should be arrested, it doesnt matter if its BLM protestors or Canadian truckers
  17. Their are still legitimate and reasonable protestors within the Canadian truckers but as normally happens with these protests because their is no definitive and agreed on leadership and anyone can join parts of the protests degenerate into chaos and illegal actions Yes Gorthfuscious the rule of law and order must be maintained and you need to deploy security forces effectively especially when certain demands are beyond Trudeaus influence because its on the provincial level. And also you shouldnt be able to " force " your government to change any pandemic restriction because that should be done based on the level of virus risk But the biggest problem is I dont think Canada has the security forces, experience or the training to effectively end this type of large scale protest? @Malcador Whats your opinion on deploying security forces to end the protests? Do they have the experience to do this without unnecessary bloodshed and damage to property? Oh I also didnt know you had a real Canadian Neo-Nazi movement, first time I have heard of it?
  18. Let us know how it is and how enjoyable and integrated it is with the 5e ruleset
  19. I sincerely hope that story isnt true. If it is true I hope that teacher is fired for abuse of their position. There may even be criminal charges? Its like the ultimate worse example of CRT if it was allowed to be taught Im sure @Hurlshot will comment?
  20. i have also created long posts and then they can vanish....its very annoying and I often dont recreate them, I sometimes just copy long posts in stages to Notepad or Word as a backup Thanks for sharing, I understand what you saying
  21. I never wear my mask outside ever and only wear it when I walk into malls and shops but we have this weird policy where you dont have to wear a mask inside a mall inside a restaurant ....but you have to wear it walking around the mall
  22. I finished NWN EE after 80 hours, as I mentioned earlier it was a great and nostalgic trip back to D&D and the Forgotten Realms The lore, narrative and D&D ruleset and the myriad of spells and combat strategies makes this game for me It gets a well deserved 65\100 on the " BruceVC gaming rating " system and I am considering playing the expansions next
  23. I went with some family and friends to this awesome boutique hotel called Alphen We ate inside the Library Dining Room, it was really well done and nicely aired for the virus
  24. Yes but Lewis and Clark are considered iconic in the history of the US, they not angelic but significant. Their is a whole tourism aspect where people follow the original Lewis and Clark trail in the USA. I have seen this several times on cooking shows like Bizarre Food America, so we wouldn't want to malign them unnecessarily https://www.travelchannel.com/shows/bizarre-foods/episodes/lewis-and-clark-trail
  25. A greasy breakfast is always my favorite
