https://briefly.co.za/south-africa/117550-cape-town-honours-tutus-memory-ramaphosas-tribute-late-archbishop/#:~:text=CAPE TOWN - The City of Cape Town, the date of Tutu's funeral in Cape Town. Cape Town is paying a fitting tribute to Desmond Tutu till the 1st January, purple lights will be shone on Table Mountain and the City Hall and various churches will be sounding their bells during the day. Its a pity I will miss it as Im only back on the 4th

I get you Barti, their is NOTHING worse than people destroying threads. But as you said at least we got rid of most of them We must strive to get to a point where only like minded people like you and I are left, echo chambers are the best I tell you I miss many of the people who have left who dont always share my views like Oby and volo but many of them are on Codex so I get to interact them again like volo...and he hasnt changed. He is still very funny Oh that reminds me, I dont know if anyone remembers Rostere from Denmark, he says hi to everyone

Thanks for the feedback, very interesting listening to your lived experiences. I dont want to hijack this thread with political and social exchanges so as usual we will catch-up later on these topics -

Good point raised about Boney M because its not like I have ever asked " who likes Boney M" so how would I know -
@Gfted1 Have you ever thought about what an incredible invention the " internet" is and was? And I say the " internet" because I am simplifying all the various protocols, services and applications that exist nowadays that give us so much entertainment and allow us to game, work and communicate with family and friends in so many different ways But the foundation of the " Internet " and the reason it works in this incredible way is the underlying communication protocol TCP/IP which was invented in the USA during the Cold War in 1973 as a way that data could still flow if a city in the USA was nuked by the " stinking Communist subversives " because TCP\IP allows data to be rerouted if a certain link is down. So in other words before TCP\IP if data was going to get from point A to B it required a consistent link and the other protocols like NetBeui and IPX\SPX (created by Novell ) use to be mainstream but TCP\IP was the superior protocol and won the battle of how all data would eventually get from A to B. Im simplifying things a lot but here is a technical link if you want further details https://scos.training/history-of-tcp-ip/ But it was the UK who created World Wide Web and an English computer scientist called Tim Berners-Lee who invented that and their would be no Obsidian forum without the World Wide Web and the contribution that him and others made to the " Internet " we know and love today, including online and network gaming. But nothing changes the significance of the creation of TCP\IP by Americans which is the foundation of the Internet. And thats another reason I like you guys in the US, you clever and industrious and you have made the world a better place and that is irrefutable https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Berners-Lee And when it comes to the culture of ignoring someone by using a software mechanic it just seems unnecessary because if you dont like what someone is posting you should " ignore " them by not ever responding to them, you dont need to announce because by never responding to them its the same thing ( and I know from personal experience it really is the same thing ) It reminds me of MMO where some gamers get angry with the the game and the development studio and vent and rage and say things like " I am leaving and hate this MMO " and people respond with "can I have your stuff " And in closing, this terrible pandemic has changed the world forever and irrevocably. I absolutely believe we will recover and get back to the days of going to braais\barbeques, malls, music concerts, restaurants and other social events without wearing masks and in fear. But it has taken people from us who most of us know and love and that will never change for our generation So the concept of " ignoring " someone on a forum seems so .....trivial and meaningless if you think of the real problems we all grapple with in this pandemic. But thats just my opinion

Great story, I also know Boney M. We listen to them every Christmas and they part of our Christmas song collection along with the likes of John Denver You the first person I have ever met on any forum who knows Boney M. Its amazing how we can have things in common with people that you chat to on a forum like this that are not just about gaming and politics So how so you feel about living in the USA now, any regrets overall? Im glad you achieved that part of your life goals -

Yes do tell and the more details the better and congratulations -
I honestly didnt know most of that, I dont know much about the specifics of rifles and guns. Very informative, thanks for sharing. Where did you learn most of your gun knowledge, was it in the USMC or because you are a responsible gun owner and have an interest? And did you know about guns before you joined the USMC?

@Zoraptor and others Please use spoilers if you going to talk about WoT and other series, especially if you discussing the specifics of the narrative -
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Outsider_(2018_film) This is a MUST watch for those who enjoy movies about Japan and specifically the Yakuza Its set after WW2 and all about a ex US marine who becomes part of a Yakuza family, I have no idea why it received such bad reviews because its brilliant

You raise some good and interesting points but STALKER is more of a FPS\RPG hybrid and I always use M\KB for these types of games. Controller is best for some games like Far Cry and Assassins Creed but not FPS games so I dont think Controller support should be a necessity ? -

Its funny you mention ABBA because I also love their music despite many younger, and older, people considering their music to be " meh" My parents got divorced when I was one and my mom raised us but we saw my dad maybe every 4-5 weeks because he was working overseas loads but we did go overseas once a year for 15 days on holiday with him and my stepmom when I was about 10 onwards. Anyway my dad is a huge ABBA fan and when he use to come pick us he always use to play ABBA in his car so I literally grew up in the late 1970s and 1980s listening to their music So I love all ABBA songs especially Dancing Queen , Chiquitita and when I Kissed The Teacher I dont think you ever forget the music you use to listen that your parents enjoy. Here is song list that all ABBA fans will know https://www.last.fm/music/ABBA/+tracks -

I forgot about STALKER 2, thats definitely on my list of anticipated games for 2022 and another " day 1 purchase " for sure -
Sad news indeed, Desmond Tutu was an iconic South African and was one of those people who played a role in ensuring SA got to its first Democratic election in 1994 without a civil war or collapsed economy. Very consistent through the years RIP Desmond Tutu

https://www.gog.com/game/knights_of_the_chalice_2 Someone mentioned this game on Codex yet I had never heard of it but it looks excellent, based on D&D 3.5 ruleset with lots of mechanics that look great. But I am sometimes fooled by hype and exaggerated gaming marketing so what do people think....anyone know anything about the development studio or this game ? EDIT: I watched the video on the GOG link and now I am not sure it does look excellent

@Sarex Indira has been quiet but he is one of the numerous people, since I became active in 2010, who use to post relatively frequently on these forums but has now vanished. But thats generally the nature Internet forums and members, its strange to me that people who post for years on a forum leave without saying goodbye or explaining they moving on. Its not a big deal if people move on I just like to know why. But at least Im still here so its not all bad news ( and dont worry Sarex if I do leave Obsidian I will make a proper farewell post saying goodbye ) But what a great thread to raise " what are we looking forward to " and 2022 is going to be a big year for gaming. My list includes BG3 full release Cyb 2077 at a level to be played without too many issues or things left out Dying Light 2 Elex 2, cant wait for this one Dragon Age 4, not sure if it will make 2022 Elden Ring Oh yes 2022 bodes well for gaming
