Hahahah, good one.No really, that's a ton of laughs.. I think SC was one of those games that turned out much better then anyone imagined. And I doubt they could repeat the sucess of the game, so it's probably better if they stayed away from a sequel.

You don't say ? " I agree completely. The only pair I noticed that fell short was Carson and perhaps Trip. A shame that most of the PC dialogue seems written by 13 year olds (The PC dialogue, the NPC dialogue seems generally well written and performed by the voice actors) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, you can't go wrong with John Di Maggio, the guy who did Bender in Futurama. I noticed that Jeanette was done by the same voice actor who did Viconia among others in BG2. Plus, there's a bunch of the same actors who did a lot of work for other games (from BG games to the SW games), some of them quite unremarkable. I guess it takes more then voice actors to make a good voice set for the game.

The only thing I care to comment on KotOR 2 right now is its game mechanics, whichis widely known and the way it is currently set up sucks. It keeps the n00bie uber-munchkin player in mind and ignores the veteren gamers. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Have you played the game yet to say that? And if this is true, let's be honest, KOTOR 1 wasnt exactly different. You had a great amount of l33t loot and overpowered force powers. You leveled up fairly quickly and the game wasnt challenging enough. So it comes down to the plot, NPCs and the overall feel of the game, to find out if the game outdid its predecessor. I guess I'll find out when it's released for the PC.

From what I've noticed is, that people tend to view older games with such reverence it blinds them to its mistakes. In this case, KotoR 1. The game was fun and it brought a new breath life into the RPG genre, since there was almost nothing worth playing up until then. It was however not perfect, and it had more then it's share of bad things. However, people thought KotoR 2 would be so much more I suppose, and even with new additions it brought people seemed to expect a lot more. After all, how can a game compete with an idea of a game people played before. The reviews themselves can be tricky. Bloodlines received mediocre scores, but personally, I found it to be one of the best RPGs around. HL2 received incredible scores, and yet I considered it to be one huge boring monorail shooter, so game reviews arent exactly fact, and are very subjective. Try the game yourself and see how you like it.

Vampire bloodlines. One of the most entertaining games I've played. The least pleasant surprise was deus ex 2. That game was horrible.. which was a shame after its excellent predecessor.

It's a life, albeit a .. shall we say, limited one. Some may consider it boring, but some may like it.

Yes. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sorry, but Volourn is correct. Great amounts of text alone doesnt make a game the greatest achievement.

I consider this "who has a life" debates, if one could call them that, to be more then outdated. While in the past, everyone who had a computer was consider a lifeless geek, things changed, indeed it would be hard to find a household without a computer - at least in the western world. Personally, I go out almost every other friday, get drunk and party, and during weekdays I chill out with friends and such in caf

Define life.

I consider BG to be a much more memorable series, so I'd go for BG.

PS:T is a good game, however the combat does get tedious, as do some incredibly long dialogues that don't really add much to the game. And I do agree that PS:T is looked through rose-coloured glasses far too much (as are all older games from FO to BG). Maybe it's the lack of quality RPGs that cause such subjectivity. Certanly, by reading through this board quite a few people don't consider a game where your PC is already defined, to be a RPG. I remember many bad slurs thrown Witchers way because you start off with a developer created PC - and yet PS:T does the same thing. Objective indeed. Then there's the bad combat, which a lot of people consider to be the bane of newer games - and yet PS:T has the worst combat system of any IE game...

Heh, besides the graphical glitches and occasional slowdowns, I encountered less bugs then in NWN1. I know the hate Troika bandwagon is quite popular nowadays (and mostly well deserved), but still, the game is quite playable, more so then a lot of the supposedly great games everyone loves.

I'd be one. I havent had this much with a game in quite a while.

Do You Prefer Male Or Female Revan
Percival replied to Bastilla_Skywalker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
It's a PG game. What really happened was some tongue was exchanged with Bastila slowly going lower and lower on Revan until (CENSORED). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Which in itself is quite entertaining. Oh NOES A KISS!!1 [minute later] Limbs flying off, blood squirting, laser blasts drilling holes into people... Oh well.. Moving on to the topic at hand, I always selected the female Revan, mostly because I found the female portraits much more attractive then the bland, boring looking male ones. Of course I find Carth to be very annoying, so besides me telling him to go [censored] himself, I cleared away from any romance subplots in KOTOR. -
I take it you never had contact with the battle.net crowd to claim something like that? You might want to reconsider the "good" fortunes of the american players - take a look at their forums to see just how wonderful the native english speaking players vocabulary is.

From what I've heard Krynn is a low level world, so maybe they could fit it into the first one. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Now who told you that lie?

Future games you are seriously looking forward to.
Percival replied to Lilac Benjamine's topic in Computer and Console
Fallout 3 is no rumor. It's being developed by Bethesda softworks, but probabally won't be released for a long, long time. In the meanwhile, check out The Fall if your looking for a similar experience. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This The fall game actually looks like Jagged alliance meets Fallout. I guess it's the screenshots, that make me rather sceptical about it. Something looks so terribly wrong about this game and makes me think it'll fail horribly. Or it may not... -
When used correctly, profanity adds to the game, see Vampire Bloodlines. Now, when you have profanity in a game where such things dont belong (see most fantasy games), it does indeed detract from the game.

Why's Forgotten Realms more popular than Greyhawk?
Percival replied to romeo_longsword's topic in Computer and Console
NWN OC would make everything look dull. Of course basing a setting on a computer game is a bad idea, since the devs place too much focus on munchkinism (l33t loot, leveling every minute, placing big bad liches and demons at every turn...). Blaming FR on poor RP by the players isnt such a good idea. As for Planescape, the setting is fun, but I find it to be much better as a accessory to the rest of the settings, and not as a stand alone setting. Once again, you confuse a computer game with the setting itself. Of course if you played PS:T, you would have found out that there's alot more l33t loot and overpowered godlike chars in that game then in a FR game. Of course with such a poor combat system that PS:T had, and much less focus on it, people did not notice that. And if you consider PS lacks overzealous paladins, think again. Mercykillers ring any bells? Of course they're not paladins per se, but they make up in their zeal. Strangely, people like to trash FR because of strange notions of bias. Every other D&D setting can be described in the same negative way, if you put it through your own rose coloured glasses. DL = overpowered munchkin fest where everyone has +3 magical items, with a godlike mage, even more popular and munchkinish then Drizzt GH = too much details (really, has anyone checked out Greyhawk Gazetter, too much information, I caaaant be creative) Eberron = poor attemt of bringing sci fi into high fantasy (really, warforged is the silliest idea ever) Dark sun = silliest "post apocalyptic" implementation - halflings destroying everything, then shapeshift into humans and elves... -
Hahaha, FF a RP... good one....oh, you're serious Regarding rpgs, BG2 is probably my favourite "old" RPG and Vampire Bloodlines the best "new" RPG.

Why's Forgotten Realms more popular than Greyhawk?
Percival replied to romeo_longsword's topic in Computer and Console
Ah, it took nearly 5 pages for people to start trashing a setting without any reasonable arguments. Well, congrats, I thought it would only take 1 or 2 pages of replies. -
And if you actually played War3 online these past few years, you wouldnt say things like that

Ha, I guess you never heard of that little cheesy item called scroll of protection from magic. No more spell casting from the demon siblings. Moving on, I found the first part of IWD2 to be quite brilliant, in fact, IWD2 starting quests - up untill, and including the horde fotress were probably the best parts of any FR game. Things did go downhill after that part of the game, but the game wasnt that bad overall.

I pity the people who'll spend a year or two of their time and over 500$ for WoW. Blizzard will, in all its wisdom, ruin the game with their arrogance. Taking a look at Warcraft 3 and Diablo 2, I have no faith in their decision making and balancing. All the better if they dont screw it up, now that they have the added money incentive, but I wouldnt hold my breath.

I actually liked lionheart...'s character generation and the first dungeon thingie where you woke up. After the initial escape things went really really really downhill. Oh well, you can try to sell the game on ebay, who knows, someone may mercy buy it from you.
