  1. The Revolution is the X-factor, I think. They're just going a whole different direction than everyone else that they really aren't part of this discussion, hehe.
  2. He must be one of those commienazis I've heard so much about <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  3. Geez...I'm glad I don't plan on overclocking anything
  4. Right. Japan is just like America.
  5. About how many fans would be good for my setup? I've already got a case (listed). The only fan in my "cart" is the one that comes with the CPU.
  6. What' would be a good fan setup then?
  7. Ok...I'm going a different route, sort of, and getting a slightly less expensive video card combo: AMD Athlon 64 3500+ / 512KB Cache / 2000MHz FSB / Socket 939 / Venice Core / Processor with Fan Asus A8N 32-SLI-Deluxe NVIDIA Socket 939 ATX Motherboard / Audio / PCI Express / SLI / WiFi / Dual Gigabit LAN / S/PDIF / USB 2.0 / Serial ATA / Dual RAID Dual Channel 2048MB PC3200 DDR 400MHz Memory (2 x 1024MB) Two (2) eVGA GeForce 6800 GS 256MB PCI Express SLI Video Cards and an Ultra X-Finity 500 Watt SLI-Ready Power Supply Seagate / 250GB / 7200 / 8MB / ATA-100 / EIDE / OEM / Hard Drive Creative Labs SoundBlaster Live 24-Bit PCI Sound Card (Retail Box) NEC 16x8x16x DVD+RW / 16x6x16x DVD-RW / 8x DVD+R DL / 6x DVD-R DL / 48x32x48x CD-RW / Black / Dual Layer / OEM DVD Burner with Software Lite-On / 52x32x52x CD-RW / Black / CD Burner * Ultra UV Wizard Black ATX Mid-Tower Case with UV Reactive Clear Side, Front USB and Firewire Ports Ultra Commander 7-Channel Fan Controller Plus 3 Titanium Finish 80mm Fans * * = should I actually get these items? A little cheaper, but still plenty upgradable at $1530 (before rebates, etc).
  8. Someone is about to make a booboo " <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's why you guys are here. Time to keep shopping. Edit: AMD Athlon 64 3500+ / 512KB Cache / 2000MHz FSB / Socket 939 / Venice Core / Processor with Fan I lose about .2 GHz, but it has a faster bus speed. This also pushes the prie to just over $1600
  9. Definately. Don't want to hide the kids from real life, do we? "
  10. And the only thing hold me up now is the availability of the ASUS motherboard. So far quickest I can get is about a month!
  11. I got screwed. Damn you Dell!!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, tell me about it. A similar system (as much as I could get) cost about 1000 dollars more.
  12. OS, case, and PS are accounted for . It has just the one (other) PCIe slot.
  13. Ok, here is another one I came up with: AMD Athlon 64 3700+ / 1MB Cache / 1600MHz FSB / ClawHammer Core / Socket 754 / Processor Asus A8N 32-SLI-Deluxe NVIDIA Socket 939 ATX Motherboard / Audio / PCI Express / SLI / WiFi / Dual Gigabit LAN / S/PDIF / USB 2.0 / Serial ATA / Dual RAID Dual Channel 2048MB PC3200 DDR 400MHz Memory (2 x 1024MB) GeForce 7800 GT 256MB PCI Express SLI Video Card with an Ultra X-Finity 600 Watt Power Supply and FREE Call Of Duty 2 PC Game Creative Labs SoundBlaster Live 24-Bit PCI Sound Card Lite-On / 52x32x52x CD-RW / Black / CD Burner NEC 16x8x16x DVD+RW / 16x6x16x DVD-RW / 8x DVD+R DL / 6x DVD-R DL / 48x32x48x CD-RW / Black / Dual Layer / OEM DVD Burner with Software $1440
  14. Ok, can someone tell me what the "fastest" AMD processor there is in terms of Ghz? Highest I see is about 2.4 or thereabouts, but with Intel you see upwards of 3.8 and such. What is the difference?
  15. Sweet, thanks. I'm going to need this.
  16. I get that, but what I don't get is, I've given myself a (what I thought to be rather modest) price range of around 1500. Other than the AMD chip (I'm searching around for something similar atm), what else is there to change? What's wrong with simply having more memory?
  17. A lawyer to get all the rebates. Also, forego one of the sticks of RAM unless you plan on doing 3D rendering or other heavy graphics work. 1GB is enough for any but the most overkill of gaming rigs....then again that seems to be what you're going for. Fool. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I've never had a problem getting rebates before... And getting this stuff now means I won't have to later, doesn't it?
  18. But the motherboard I have there doesn't support AMD, at least not according to the specs. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> New motherboard! New motherboard! New motherboard! New motherboard! That 64bit tech will be nice when the new windows hits in 06 (it will support the chip, hence other things prolly will start to as well) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't know. That seems to be a pretty good deal for a mothorboard with two brand new video cards and a new video game included.
  19. But the motherboard I have there doesn't support AMD, at least not according to the specs.
  20. Ok, here's what I have so far, and the price is going to be cheaper after rebates: ABIT NI8 SLI NVIDIA Socket 775 ATX Motherboard with Two (2) PNY 7800 GT 256MB PCIe Video Cards (512 total), Ultra 600 Watt Power Supply & Call Of Duty 2 PC Game Intel Pentium 4 630 3.0Ghz / 2MB Cache / 800 FSB / Socket 775 / HyperThreading / Processor with Fan Ultra UV Wizard Black ATX Mid-Tower Case with UV Reactive Clear Side, Front USB and Firewire Ports Seagate / 250GB / 7200 / 8MB / ATA-100 / EIDE / OEM / Hard Drive NEC ND3550A / 16x8x16x DVD+RW / 16x6x16x DVD-RW / 8x DVD+R DL / 6x DVD-R DL / 48x32x48x CD-RW / Black / Dual Layer / OEM DVD Burner with Software Lite-On / 52x32x52x CD-RW / Black / CD Burner Ultra Commander 7-Channel Fan Controller Plus 3 Titanium Finish 80mm Fans Mushkin 2048MB PC5400 DDR2 667MHz Memory (2 x 1024MB) Creative Labs SoundBlaster Live 24-Bit PCI Sound Card (Retail Box) so far, this costs $1640 before rebates. What else am I going to need?
  21. Define ok
  22. CNet has videos that guide you through some of the important points, though there's really no substitute for having someone around who knows what they're doing. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hmm...buy all the parts and have someone else do it locally?
  23. Hmm...how about this for a motherboard? http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...MBM-NI8SLI-7800 or this one: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...p?EdpNo=1696401
  24. That's all well and good and everything, but what would I do with it after I bought it? I've never put together a computer before. I probably could put one together, as long as I had all the resources necessary (cables, screws, etc.)...and had some sort of guide or tutorial, hehe.
  25. Hmm...it appears it has a K8N Neo4-F motherboard...only 1 PCI Express X16.
