  1. To boost the signal for any of those US side who might be interested in this experiment... Readers supporting readers - Military book newsletter
  2. There is a point that for a chunk of the Leave group wasn't about isolationism. It was about not focusing on Europe so they could connect with the global market at large. There were a few arguments over how being in the EU prevented the UK from establishing trade connections and building other treaties with non-EU countries. So while yes, some of the Leave was about huddling behind the borders, it wouldn't be fair to say that they all were.

  4. And there's already a petition demanding a second referendum to be done with fresh rules that if the results are less than 60% or so there should be a continual re-do of referendum until there's a clear "winning majority"...
  5. Everyone has that "omg" going at the moment. I really think we need to take a pause and see where things are a week from now, a month from now, and a year down the line. Then you can safely say what the hell is going on. Until then, it'll likely be a case of extreme over-reactions leading to more over-reactions to course correct...
  6. The comment I've seen bouncing around at the moment runs along the line of: “the key fact that needs to be recognised is that the British public voted against every major political party leader and corporation and is anyone going to understand that?”

  9. Frankly, it comes down to a matter of trust. And the EU just hasn't had the appearance of transparency or trustworthiness to a lot of people in the UK. The Remain campaign never tried to answer those questions, and the Leave campaign tended to be equally schmucky.
  10. For the side line of things.. Just to interject a small moment of consideration... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9rjGTOA2NA&feature=youtu.be
  11. I just wish someone other than Farage would get on the cameras to claim the victory for the Leave campaign. He's an annoying schmuck.
  12. I think that was a big problem with the campaign. Neither side really presented useful information, both used a lot of scare tactics. The Remain camp pushed the negativity of leaving, but never actually said why it's a good reason to be in it beyond "bad things will happen" and the "if you vote leave you're racist and ignorant" - which doesn't exactly win you votes. Neither side really tried explaining to the population how the EU democratic process works or how it relates to us as common citizens. When it comes down to that, it seems to leave a lot of people with pretty much a "I don't feel I have control over any politicians, but if I vote leave, at least I'll only be stuck with the one group of annoying politicians not two."
  13. Looking at the maps of how things went, it is kind of interesting that the big push for "Remain" votes in England happened to be around London and the M1 area.. which is the big commute in and out of London.
  14. I will say this, my inner paranoia wants to run rampant when you go to the polling station and they only provide pencils to make your mark....
