  1. Both the design of the PS3 and the new controllers are prototypes, which may very well be changed before launch. Sony did not lose the rights to the design of the dualshock, but I think they did lose a copyright infringement case, and had to pay millions of dollars to whoever invented the vibrating function. I really hope they come up with some sort of adapters for the old PS2 controllers, because I, too, think they're the best I've ever tried.
  2. Vibroblades? So that's what they call diIdos nowadays.. Edit: Ok, so I had to bypass the foul language filter.. But my joke wouldn't have worked otherwise! And I don't think any children were harmed in the creation of this thread anyhow..
  3. I think the logical way of seeing abortion is the way we do it (according to law) in Sweden. Abortion is legal here until the child is old enough to survive outside his/her mother's womb. Until then, I guess the fetus is not considered as another living, human being. Either that, or because it's not safe for the mother to have an abortion any later than that. Or both. The legal time limit of abortion in Sweden is week 22. After that, you have to give birth to the child. I think they've managed to save children who were born prematurely in week 23, but that 'record' is probably being challenged every day.
  4. Also, 'romances' can add to the difficulty in a game. In Wasteland, if you had a little.. uh.. romance with the wrong people, you'd end up with a VD..
  5. Where do we draw the line? Uh, we don't have to draw any lines. The law is quite clear on where the line is. Homosexuality is not a crime, pedophilia (is that a word?) is. And I absolutely hate when people mention homosexuality in almost the same sentence as pedophilia, as if they were somehow connected.
  6. Did anyone see the Gameboy Micro? For the first time I feel I might actually buy a Nintendo product.. (I'm ignoring the old black-and-white Gameboy I bought a thousand years ago) If it's made of aluminum, I'll buy it.
  7. They haven't showed Gothic 3 either yet. But there are a few days left so I'm sure we'll see them both. Or at least see Gothic 3 and hear something about Neverwinter Nights 2
  8. Why bring the size of your 'manhood' into the discussion..? Role-Player is degrading you enough already by purely using logic and reason.
  9. Yeah, the graphics look ok, but they didn't show anything worthwhile. I mean, I am interested in seeing characters talk, the quest system 'in action', more control over combat and a LOT more interesting world. The movie was more of a "look at the graphics we can do!" thingie than anything else.
  10. It is buggy beyond belief. You can't even change the appearance of your own character, even though there are controls for it in the game, and textures for it on the harddrive after installation. But it is definitely not a "no-brainer". I've been playing it for a while now and although it's buggy (and it lacks a LOT of content) and you have to fight constantly, there are plenty of really brain-trasing puzzles around. You know, of that old school "pull the right levers in the right sequence" type. I love that! Also, there are some jumping puzzles (like in Ultima , some pixel hunting (!) and a lot of boss fighting. The story is well told, the main quest is loooong, the voice overs are surprisingly well done and the world is large and easy to get lost in, especially since the developers forgot to put an automap function in the game. You do get a printed map and a compass though I'm having mixed feelings about this game. It was clearly rushed out the door WAY too early and rationally I should really trash this game.. but I'm having a lot of fun with it, depsite all its flaws, and it has some kind of charm that keeps me coming back for more. That's not a common reaction from me, no matter which game I play (for example, I still haven't finished GTA: San Andreas, even though I think it's one of the best games I've ever played).
  11. The Revolution will be backwards compatible.. all the way back to the 8-bit Nintendo! That is awesome More and more details are slipping out about the machine. It will contain 512 MB internal Flashmemory, two USB 2.0 ports and built-in Wi-Fi access. Also, a new Zelda is being worked on specifically for the new machine. They also showed more movies from the Gamecube Zelda that's supposed to be released this winter.. It sure looks awesome. http://www.zelda.com/universe/game/legendzelda/trailer.jsp Check out the boomerang!
  12. The link doesn't work..?
  13. Hasty? Only an idiot would draw that conclusion yet. I would be far more worried about Fallout 3's future if Bethesda hadn't realized they did something wrong with Morrowind/Daggerfall. But in interview after interview they've admitted that their games haven't been all they could have been and they've put their finger on the most apparent and game-killing flaws (dead world, dictionary NPC's and so on). If they can see what they've done wrong before, then there's a big possibility they're willing to try and change that with Oblivion and Fallout 3. As long as you recognize the problem, you have a chance to redeem yourself, and that's what I think Bethesda might be able to do. Time will tell.
  14. I originally come from Kiruna. That's a tad bit further north than Skellefte
  15. Based on pure computational power, I'd say the PS3 clearly beats the Xbox 360. But I'm sure we'll find out what the real deal is when the developers start messing around with these two machines and we'll find out if it's possible to take advantage of the technology or not. I read somewhere that the reason why there hasn't been almost any multi-core processors until now is because they're very difficult to write code for. If the specs are correct, then the PS3 has a faster processor than the Xbox 360, PS3 has faster internal memory, faster graphics card (with MUCH more dedicated video RAM), much bigger DVD capacity (PS3 blu-ray is supposed to be able to store 54 Gb on a single disc, as opposed to 9 Gb for a dual-layer ordinary DVD) and it will support Bluetooth (yey!), USB and a removable HD. It seems the PS3 beats the Xbox 360 on almost all accounts.. on paper.
  16. Well, well. Nothing new under the sun for Sony either, it seems. The CELL processor sure sounds nice, but we'll leave it up to the developers to find out if it's even possible to program games for 8-9 cores at once. There's one really good thing about the PS3 though: it uses Bluetooth for its controllers! Got to love that. That means they'll probably use a lot less battery power than the Xbox equivalents. I didn't like the design of the boomerang controller, but I read that those pictures are of the prototypes and not the finished product, so maybe they'll change. Now we wait for Nintendo's reply. I love this next-generation console war!
  17. They scare me, and I don't know why.
  18. I think the best thing Sony could do is to announce GTA4 (5?) as the first release title for the PS3.. That would make me pre-order one..
  19. Why? The only thing we've seen so far are very short glimpses of games that, in my opinion, didn't look that impressive, plus a bunch of impressive technical specs. There's nothing revolutionary about the new Xbox. It's all been done before. There's a PowerPC processor (with a bunch of cores) an ATI graphics card, a small harddrive, wireless controllers, a quite ugly design (again) and nothing else. Why get excited about a console that offers nothing new, just the same old stuff with a little extra power behind it? I am hoping Nintendo and Sony has something extra to offer this time around. I think Nintendo might actually win this round, IF they indeed do have something up their sleeve. At least the Nintendo president said something along the lines, "Today's consoles already have great graphics. To bring the gaming industry forward, the new consoles need more than just better graphics". I think he hit the nail right on the head. One more thing: Why did Microsoft rush the Xbox 360? They offer nothing inventive, give their opponents a whole year to beat them in every aspect and the only thing they can hope for is that the developers have time to churn out lots and lots of quality game titles between the release of their Xbox 360 and the release of the other consoles. If that doesn't happen, then I believe both Nintendo and the PS3 will surpass the new Xbox. Microsoft didn't exactly blow the competition out of the water with the Xbox 360, but we'll see if they have something clever planned for the future.
  20. You mean like in Morrowind, where (after you've completed the main quest) you can just keep going and going and going, forever and ever, for all eternity, in the great party and wondrous world that is.. uh.. the Morrowind world? Sounds great.
  21. Her hair is green on my monitor, wtf are all you talking about?
  22. How's that useful? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If it stops them from spamming pathetic pick-up lines, it's damn useful.
  23. Useful info: Reading page after page of posts where a bunch of nerds desperately try to hit on the few girls frequenting these forums is boring. Useless info: One of the npc's in Wasteland is called Faran Brygo, which in turn is an anagram of Bryan Fargo - the creator of Wasteland.
  24. Haha, yeah, I had this weird thing happen to me while I was writing my first post in this thread. When I was about to write down the ones I knew, I realized I had forgotten the number after the SYS. But somehow my fingers instinctively felt like writing 64738 after typing SYS, even after all these years! Disturbing is only the beginning..
  25. http://dreamcatcherinteractive.com/forums/...44&page=1&pp=40 I've been following the development of the game Dungeon Lords (by Heuristic Park, published by Dreamcatcher) closely, and apparently the game was released in a terrible state (I will find out tomorrow, when I get my copy). This has, of course, stirred a lot of debate over at the Dreamcatcher forums, and the discussion has actually been very informative and rewarding so far. I just wanted the developers of Obsidian to see this thread, and who knows, maybe 'someone' could create some incognito account there and add (read: vent) to the discussion..? Anyhow, just a tip and a suggestion. Link again: http://dreamcatcherinteractive.com/forums/...44&page=1&pp=40
