  1. Going by recent news Vatican City is probably the rape capital of Europe.
  2. Exclusive to GOG... how many zlotys have they thrown at ActiBlizz to exclude Steam? Disgusted and angry at this anti competitive behaviour. How could Bobby K betray us so?
  3. If they don't do anything it will be no deal Brexit just before Easter. That ought to start focusing some minds on being a touch more pragmatic. Kind of funny though, MPs hated May saying that the mess was their fault for being unrealistic so they took control of the process and got zero progress and 8 failed proposals rather than 1. Might as well get Queen Liz to decide, she can hardly do worse- actually, go the whole hog and give every member of the royal family a proposal to champion, then decide which wins in a last person standing tournament held on the Isle of Wight. Added bonus, we might get to see Phil the Greek dabbing.
  4. It's entirely possible it doesn't. She's personally disliked by many because she's in the position where she's trying to browbeat people into voting for a deal that doesn't really appeal to them at all, and since she's politically dead in the medium term anyway offering to resign becomes another negotiation option. It's also part of showing the hard core brexiters who want a no deal exit that she isn't personally going to benefit from them holding their noses to vote for her deal.
  5. Don't worry about it. I'm at the same stage and have the same in game information. meta game observation, not really a spoiler This is a potential spoiler of their identity, with reasoning, though I do not know it to be true: I like the cultist mechanic overall but I do have a criticism of its meta game implementation. Pretty sure I've worked out something else I really shouldn't have, and not from any historical knowledge this time.
  6. They're a bit more complicated/ nuanced than simple four word summary clause (obviously), but as a summary I've been accurate. They're both anti siphoning measures written into contracts. Note that Grim Dawn is significantly cheaper on steam than on Crate's website for me, for example, as they don't have regional pricing while steam does- and since valve pays gst it ought to be the reverse if all other things were equal. You can undercut during sales, and obviously regional pricings and currencies simply cannot match all the time. If you're selling stuff for a game on steam it has to be available for the steam version and must use the steam wallet and steamworks api; that's publicly verifiable last time I checked via their steamworks developers' website. If that weren't so then, for example, there would be zero drawback to CDPR offering Gwent on Steam since it's free to play and they could gate microtransactions through Galaxy or whatever. Of course, if you're a big publisher you can negotiate better terms. Even something as immutable as the 30% steam tax can get reduced if you're big enough- but the vast majority aren't big enough.
  7. I've seen people state there wouldn't be any mods without steam workshop, so why not no patch notes as well? Practically, most don't offer their own digital distribution due to steam's monopolist position and leveraging of that position. Can't undercut steam and be on steam, can't offer exclusive content on your own store and be on steam*, so what's the point unless you're a big player with guaranteed sales and a lot of clout like EA? You just end up with a lot of infrastructure costs and no competitive advantage plus run the risk of the PC gamer steam inghimasi pronouncing takfir on you for not worshiping PC Gaming gaben enough. You'll definitely be accused of going 'exclusive' too, even if your games are available all sorts of other places except for steam. *Those two policies were brought in to kill off forthcoming steam competitors like Paradox Connect rather than Origin, and for that they worked perfectly. Sure, Paradox, you could offer your own MP and store infrastructure, but don't think you'll be undercutting steam or you'll get kicked and all your fans who are really steam fans will pitch a fit and blame you for it. Or you could just use steam and not worry about anything! It's a nice company you've got there after all, be such a shame if anything happened to it.
  8. Fargo gazumped me by a whole hour and half. He should be a good addition for InXile. [Hmm, Interplay, InXile and Turtle Rock after leaving Troika, now back to InXile again. I really wasn't paying especial attention]
  9. It would be difficult to blame Trump if firing Comey was found to be perfectly legal and not obstruction of justice. Can't really blame an accused for a failed accusation, even if the accused is as intrinsically suspicious as Trump. Fundamentally, even an expensive investigation that resulted in complete exoneration could be value for money. That isn't able to be determined from a short executive summary though. An immigrant moving to Australia raises the average IQ of both Australia and the source country -- Piggy Muldoon, slightly paraphrased. Awful PM, but good with the zingers.
  10. Probably worth mentioning Jason Anderson as well, since he was Creative Director where Bloodlines excelled, and he was the third of the 'Troika'. Presumably he isn't involved since he hasn't been mentioned and last I heard he wasn't in the gaming business any more- though that was a while ago and I haven't been paying especial attention. IIRC Brian has said he didn't write all of Bloodlines, just most of it.
  11. Would be even more funny/ ironic if both those MPs causing trouble for Mr Progressive were women and one was a native canadian too. 'Correct the Record' is probably still better known, but it's officially defunct. Shareblue (same one gfted linked to, same guy involved at the top) uses vote manipulation in places like reddit extensively to give anti Trump news the megaphone treatment. They were most obvious when Hillary had her fainting moment on the campaign trail, as all their boosted content disappeared for a day since they had no prepared talking points. I think everyone who isn't ideologically committed to one side would like to see the evidence. I'm not expecting literal exoneration personally, but something more similar to the justification for not prosecuting Hillary for her server faux pas; but I always doubted Trump himself was directly involved anyway.
  12. Rape and forced marriage too- but it's all very obfuscated and cartoonish. VtMB would be a lot more immediate in its depictions since it's 1st/3rd person rather than an abstraction.
  13. I'd imagine a lot of people convinced of Trump's guilt will be hoping that the AG being a Trump pick has lead to some... charitable interpretations for him in the summary. And it will be interesting to see the reaction of the Sharebluers who have been insisting Mueller would be dragging Trump from the White House in chains at the end of his investigation.
  14. The leverage they have is that they can threaten to take the IP elsewhere for sequels. In this case that has already happened though, since MS bought Obsidian in the interim the IP has already gone elsewhere. If PD handling sequels was written into the contract even that leverage would not be there. Walking out of the contract would also be an option, but not a practical one. Except in a very few cases the publisher has effectively total freedom in determining how the game is published because they are providing the funding and ultimately taking most of the risk. A situation like PoE/ Deadfire would likely be one of those different situations as there were obligations to honour KS/ Fig pledges like being on GOG/ Steam and the bulk of the funding was provided by crowdfunding and Obsidian itself- but minus IP ownership TOW seems to be a classic work for hire situation. Phoenix Point shows that even crowdfunding obligations can be... delayed, with enough inducement.
  15. I'm afraid Malkavians are problematic in their depiction of mental illness. (OTOH, that would massively increase the chances of fan favourite characters like the stop sign and tv anchor returning.)
  16. you really don't know anything 'bout logic, do you? your appeal to authority is better than Gromnir's? HA! is not how logic works. You know what else uses an appeal to authority? Pro vaccine arguments! Only medical experts say it's necessary! Anti vaxxers say it isn't based on their child not getting measles. Who could be right, the experts or an anecdote? The people who are actual experts need to have their expertise discredited by evidence, and an anecdotal 6500 miles away experience is not good evidence. (1) it was certainly directed to promote or incite imminent lawless action, it specifically included targets to hit in follow up attacks. (2) the only argument is the likelihood of it happening. And again, I think the censorship is stupid.
  17. Well, it's on Epic anyways. Sure, but presumably the thought process is that if there are 10x the preorders on steam compared to EGS it will encourage publishers to stay on steam. (of course most of the complaints aren't really about EGS exclusivity etc but about it not being on steam. Anyone who really cared about exclusivity or monitoring would be using GOG in preference for a game available there. Having said that, during a sale Bloodlines 2 Highest Price Edition is #1 seller, and it has two entries in the top 4 so GOG sales can't be bad)
  18. Your examples are two anecdotes, one out of context and one personal from 6500 miles away. My examples are the people who live here and have expertise, and include people who would love to ban s/a wholesale if it were possible. Your local example is from someone who regularly controls rabbits and is the equivalent of saying that because someone is who is vaccinated hasn't caught measles vaccines aren't necessary. Ignorance and hubris are your friends, not logic. As for the relevant applicability of the manifesto in the US, what's the US position on manifestos produced by foreigners who murdered 50 people in a terrorist act on their soil? Because that's the equivalent metric, not general free speech. [the manifesto also would definitively fulfill the first part of that test anyway, the only question would be about the 2nd. It was certainly the view of the NZ Police and government that it would incite immediate copy cat acts and potentially revenge acts too, albeit the Police and government aren't exactly unbiased. My personal view is that for 99.95% of the population it would inspire derision rather than action, but then I don't need to worry about that .05% while the government and police do]
  19. Because they would not be making the decision. All PD games are EGS 'exclusives' (iirc the rest are proper exclusives too, with no WinStore, so TOW is already a special case). If you blame Obs management you also have to blame Desilets and the rest of the PD game makers effected equally, and the fact that PD have gone EGS on all titles says it's their decision- or that all the devs involve don't like steam, in which case you'd have to ask what steam is doing wrong as well. In order for the wishes of Obs execs to be relevant they have to be, well, relevant and able to influence PD/ 2k's decision making, in order for Obs management to think it's a good idea Obs also has to benefit from a decision which leaves the largest marketplace. The way that EGS and publishing works the benefit will be PD's. Obs management are not going to throw their game under the bus by screaming publicly at their publisher though. Yes, Avellone is totally legit and beliavable source when it comes to Obsidian and the partners. Oh, wait. He isn't. Avellone uses every opportunity to strike at Feargus & co. Doesn't have to be true, if someone believes him he has achieved what he was looking for. This is also the perfect situation for Chris- who, lest we forget, was singing the praises of PD when he was trying to get them to give TOW the chop. Whatever happens he can and will blame management. If management fights back against decisions they don't like it's Feargus yelling and ruining another publisher relationship while patting himself on the back!, if they say nothing it's typical low energy Feargus, bet he didn't even tell anyone [which is likely prohibited by contract, but hey] about it, SAD!
  20. ISIS is defeated, and for real this time. Still a few holdouts around Baghuz- and technically, they do hold one small defunct gas field in the Syrian desert which nobody can be bothered driving a few hundred kms to take it off them- but in terms of held population centres it's all over. I understand logic fine, and that's what I applied. You're just repeatedly ignorant of the situation, and as usual back up your lack of basic expertise with a series of citations that don't say what you think they do due to that ignorance. You need s/a rifles for pest control because you can shoot 46 rabbits in 2 hours with them, in daylight, in one field and can shoot dozens of feral goats/ thar/ deer/ pigs with them from helicopters- and that's what users, our PM, Police Minister, Police Commissioner and experts all say; and they trump your anecdotal expertise in the field since that field was in Dakota 6500 miles away. And no, logically speaking, that need is not disproved by any one farmer not having to shoot that many because said farmer uses continuous control (which includes... s/a rifles) and is also... one farmer. What you're doing is the equivalent of using someone who has been immunised to prove vaccines aren't needed, what I'm doing is pointing out is that the place with no immunisation in the very same article has measles. As for the state of your logic: "population 60 or 6 million makes no difference". LOL. Please, feel free to apply as a consultant on pest control here. I have a feeling the laugh would be appreciated at the moment. Is incitement to murder minorities legal in the US then? Seems unlikely, but then I'm 5000 miles away so I'm not going to venture a definitive opinion. Personally I'd make it compulsory reading since I tend to think showing idiots to be idiots via their writing is a great idea.
  21. What, a California lawyer lecturing a rural New Zealander on the situation in rural New Zealand based on experience in the fricking Dakotas 6500 miles away? That's a bit beyond getting ridiculous. You know the reason why there are fewer rabbits in the surrounding areas? You can shoot them. You can't shoot them in town since, as he intimated, you'd get a quick and not so friendly visit from the local bobby and a bunch of large, bodyarmoured blokes with MP5s and no sense of humour. So, in areas where you can't shoot them he could get ~500 a week, from a ~4ha area (and that's being very generous for Moeraki). The average NZ farm is ~200 ha. No shooting like in town and you'd be able to shoot... 25,000 rabbits per week. Fortunately, if you're controlling constantly you don't need to shoot those numbers, as... they can't breed if they're dead. Your logic is antivaxer "vaccines aren't necessary because no one gets measles" level. Sure, no one gets measles, when they're vaccinated.
  22. This is New Zealand, our usual news cycle is 'cat rescued from tree' level. But in any case, from the article you're citing: Why do you even bother posting articles when you never bother to read them. FYI, Moeraki is miniscule- population of, 60.
  23. Well, if you insist... There you go. Historic report, but the only thing which has changed is Calicivirus being released (illegally) and rabbits are immune to the strain here now. And of course all the footage is daytime, with rabbits mostly being nocturnal.
  24. Doesn't feel like Trek describes it pretty well. It's like someone described what makes good Trek to the producers- quite possibly via Power Point presentation- and they didn't bother actually watching any. IMO it's even worse than that: I'm not irremediably wedded to it being 'good Trek' personally, and enjoyed the 1st season in part because it was a bit divergent from standard Trek tropes (as was DS9 for that matter), but this season isn't even close to good television in absolute terms. It feels like someone described good TV to the producers via Power Point as well. The basic elements of what made something like TNG or DS9 successful are there, but only as cosmetics and the feel is of a checklist being run through with the focus being on action scenes with zero tension and the almost comically over the top melodrama. The positives of the season are Pike, and the bridge crew being a bit more fleshed out. I guess Spock turned out better than I feared as well. Sadly, that's about it.
  25. The term they should have used was 'Military Style Semi Automatics' as that's the correct* term under our legislation. So far as I'm aware we use the standard definition of Assault Rifle ('centrefire mid calibre rifle length gun capable of select fire'). *As of 3pm Thursday at least, before that they were standard A cat weapons and not specifically categorised except when paired with high capacity magazines.
