  1. Well, the good thing about using their own platform is that they can deploy patches at will.
  2. I don't see the point. Torment is a finished story (as he himself notes), the universe can't be licensed - so what is a new game going to have in common with Torment anyway, besides trying to push the nostalgia buttons? If he can tell a story that's as good as Torment, he doesn't need the Torment IP to do it - if he can't, getting the IP won't help him, it will just invite comparisons. I hate all this hollywood style necrophilia. Make good new IP or GTFO. While I still consider the BGEEs to be a good thing, I fully agree with you here.
  3. Uh, no, as I demonstrated before, they went in between the two. And wait, weren't you just complaining about how they upped the speed of the game? So now you would've rather have the entire game sped up instead of just the walkspeeds? That's not inconsistent at all. Reading comprehension, mate. I am quite aware of the end result. How it was reached was what I'm interested in. The walk speed was used as a humorous example to ridicule all the people who claim that the game has been somehow adhd'd for da Kidz. Any other jokes you want me to explain, since I'm here?
  4. Yea sure, search the net for an easy solution, after all you bought the "Enhanced Edition". They left it out on purpose (Portraits Folder), so people can buy their crappy portraits. BS, the import button is just as conspicuous as ever - if it were some sort of sinister plot, it wouldn't be there.
  5. :D That was kind of the point. So I guess they upped the walk speed to bg2 levels (as they said), but scaled back the fps (which they didn't say), nullifying part of the change.
  6. I'm having a slight kickstarter hangover, gonna take a lot for me to back anything digital until one of the products I've backed actually releases... I suspect I might not be alone.
  7. That's nonsense, of course. Walk speeds are the same as pre-BG2, (i.e. BG1). It's actually painfully slow. I would've wished for BG2 walk speeds, except that all the other non-(demi)humans should also get a speed increase in order to make it fair, (which they didn't in BG2). Thank God for Boots of Speed. Seems faster to me. Must be old age catching up. You sure it doesn't just seem that way to you because you're seeing more of the level?
  8. I was under the impression that Denerim wasn't even supposed to be that big, they're just a fairly minor kingdom. The opposite for Orzammar.
  9. Hi Nep Are you saying since Wednesday you have only slept 5 hours !!! It sounds like a good party, what have you been doing if I may ask Nah, 2, 4, 5, 5, 3 hours, so a total of 19 since wednesday. Hardly the stuff of legends, but enough for a pretty cool raccoon look. First, office xmas party (on the day I heard the grade thing), since then, polishing my reply to the faculty, either awake or in my sleep. Sent it today, so hopefully will get some sleep tonight. Have thu (independence day) and fri off, so otherwise ok.
  10. I was about to call total bull**** on this, but it's true - they did up the pacing. The walk speed is now the same as in BG2, ie. faster than in BG1. Apart from that, it's still bull****, though. As for bugs: This was released last week, look at the amount of fixes that are still necessary for vanilla bg (ok, it's probably a lot less than bg2, but...). I'm still cutting these guys a lot of slack, because based on the couple of hours I got in over the weekend, they did a pretty good thing. Not perfect, but nobody touching a game as pedestalised as BG would ever manage perfect, anyway.
  11. Haven't slept over five hours since wednesday (and some quite a bit shorter than that), so have some sort of tic on my left eyebrow. Also realised that there's workplaces where you are the low man on the totem pole, and then there's places where you're the last guy in the human centipede. This is one of the latter. Anyway, sent the memo to the faculty, and hopefully that part of my life will be over tomorrow evening, for better or for worse.
  12. Turns out that different things work for crpgs and tabletop ones. Who'da thunk it. Wasn't planning on playing more bgee until the mac version releases (so wouldn't need to boot into windows), but can't stop myself. So that magic's definitely still there.
  13. Playing some BGEE. The only thing bothering me so far is that they've replaced the spellcasting sounds with the (worse) bg2 ones. Have to find out if the relevant tutu patch still functions. Apart from that, it's been smooth sailing (there was a hotfix last night which seems to have fixed a lot of the more common issues) and good old Gorion now puts up a decent fight before buying it.
  14. Those cries were warranted. They should have never abandoned TB combat. Especially for a damn D&D game. Best thing they ever did.
  15. Assume it's ups/fedex and good packaging.
  16. I think you're right on the money. It was revolutionary at the time (I still remember the cries of horror of moving from Pure gold box style turn-based combat into rtwp... :D), but in many ways it was superseded by its successors...
  17. Thanks for pointing that out, backed it. Can't really justify anything higher than the Wizard level, this time.
  18. I wonder if they were trying to tie the visual direction of the cinematics together with BG2? I mean, those do look a lot more like the BG2/TOB intro movies. The anonymous bhaalspawn in intro looks odd, but my initial impression is that I'm ok with the new videos. If you want to play the unchanged original, nobody's stopping you. Well, apart from the guys who ported it to mac... *sigh*
  19. These are some wise words, while I've never pirated Bioware games, you should keep this in mind during the development process of Dragon Age 3 Alanchu. No, he's definitely gunning for Alan, there.

  21. Highest waves in recorded history on the gulf of Finland... so obviously, someone has a stroke on a cruise ship and the coast guard chopper has to evacuate: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QU9aXQ-hdR8 Doesn't look all that dramatic. It's kind of like Finnish chase videos. Cops are cool like smoke off dry ice. Makes for ****ty tv.
