  1. I think Maria already answered this, but, at least in the context it was mentioned, "fading" means that the buffs are visually not present outside of combat. Which is nice.
  2. So I'm the only person who was a lot more scared by Mothman Prophecies that, say, the Exorcist?
  3. Or pics copied from some... agency.
  4. No thanks, only douchebags post pictures on forums of the girls they go out with. Owait.
  5. I don't think I've seen a single of the "dozens of plot holes" that keep getting brought up that I couldn't easily refute. Of course, I haven't bothered to learn the codex by heart, so I can't comment on the internal consistency, and trying to argue with you guys would be about as fruitful as pissing into the wind, but I'll address the point of "boohoo, the space battles aren't as they should be according to the codex!!11" 1) Codex explanation is for how dreadnoughts, the biggest ships do battle. We've only seen two, destiny ascension and Sovereign. 2) The "battle" for citadel is, of course, different from the norm since it has Sovereign not even attempting to take out Destiny Ascension, but instead making a straight beeline for the Presidium tower (and ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL of its systems). 3) Normandy vs. Collector cruiser has no dreadnoughts and has a recon ship fight a medium sized cruiser on both occasions. First time by getting ambushed, the second time by ambushing it. Problem deconstructed and dismissed (like the Reapers). Which one should I do next?
  6. I'm not really having a chaotic melee of flailing emotions, in fact, I'm intentionally keeping this about low-key as I can - I don't need the drama, and I sure as hell don't need her to think I'm clingy. Not sure whatmy notion of "win" has to do here, tbh. Now you're like a Dr. Ruth reply copy/pasted over into a question that doesn't quite fit!
  7. I find it somewhat disturbing that all you guys who apparently hate the games so much still have in-universe knowledge that beats mine hands down.
  8. Well, got a message from the girl - apparently we'd had that comms failure, and she hadn't gotten my message. And is apparently not the kind of girl to go ringing after guys. Meh, now I need to decide whether to try again (and risk getting burned again), or just move on. For the record, this girl's what I would call a "10", so moving on will essentially mean settling for someone less stunning and not as much of an enchanting conversationalist. Double meh.
  9. Probably a lot more accurate than the flash gordon analysis. Somewhat less funny, though.
  10. I've always kind of liked the idea that instead of humans being a technologically backward and small civilization in the galactic scope, in ME their military (and, largely, tech) was on a par with the most powerful citadel races (and hence, the meteoric rise in galactic politics).
  11. Who said here that it's basically a reimagination of Flash Gordon? (Certainly ME1 was, the retroscifi was dialed back a bit with ME2) I'd say that if you want SERIOUS BUSINESS, it's definitely the wrong franchise (I'm using that to irritate you) to stick to.
  12. I opened up a bottle and started looking at deus ex HR release dates. I've known this girl (sort of) for over ten years (we started at the uni at the same time), so I'm having trouble wrapping my head around this. Classic really, all the women I know are either taken/evil/psycho and/or sisters of my friends. Last thing wouldn't be normally bad, but I think I'm too damaged right now to enter into relationships with potentially severe consequences (ie. no friends' relatives or workplace stuff). Having a pretty ****ty week, I was kind of hoping the new decade would reverse my luck. Not immediately, for sure.
  13. I have the accents in the scandi keyboard.
  14. Date no-showed. Now have to wonder whether we had a comms failure, or I managed to pick the second Grade A skank in a row.
  15. Sounds like a possible Inspector Hound type setup?
  16. Good one, but I'm already qualified to work as a lieutenant-> grade cop. This would be more a kind of "Inspector-General's office" type of thing, at least the closest corresponding thing in the American system.
  17. For some reason, nothing has quite scared me like Mothman Prophecies. It obviously managed to hit a lot of subconscious fears in me.
  18. Yeah, that's... irritating. It took me a while to figure out which one of my DLC items was causing that particular conflict. It's stuff like that which make me ecstatic when I see ready made DLC-plugin spots like ME2 had (instead of screaming conspiracy, like most did). Because it means that things have actually been PLANNED beforehand, not just thrown haphazardly together (which, IMO, appeared to be the defining character of DAO DLC).
  19. Wow, this really makes me exciting. I loved the score in Fountain and Black Swan! Me too. While I think Wall & Co did an astounding job with the original Mass Effect, I found the score for ME2 mostly average and forgettable at best. In fact, the best parts were probably the DLC missions, which were done by other people. So while I hope that some key cues are retained (main theme, Vigil's theme) to maintain continuity (and they are awesome, anyway), this is probably a really REALLY good thing. He also did the score for Doom. Now I feel the urge to check it out...
  20. Brush into then along behind the gum line. Would have saved me a lot of money if someone had made that very clear to me when I was a kid. Thanks, but it looks like it was more the stress (apparently a serious case of clamping the jaw). A lot better now, and I have a checkup coming soon, anyway. Applied for a new job. Looks interesting, and I could arrest people again.
  21. Here's to a tax system that works. We get to do ours in ~May, and the eventual money gets paid in December. I have no idea why, when places like Greece manage to do it closer to the US timetable. Sigh.
  22. That's a rather overly dignified definition in my opinion. But your basic point floats just fine. That's because I feel like my head is in a vise and formulating good opinions on international law is beyond me right now. Besides, I'd have to charge y'all.
  23. My teeth hurt. Like all of them. I think I've reached a whole new level of stress, or there's some seriously expensive dental work coming up soon.
  24. Well, it's closer to a war crime.
