  1. The reason for obedience isn't respect per se. You obey them because you know/trust them to 'do it right', and that's incidentally, the reason you respect them.

  2. No more silly than being able to freeze time, aim three shots, and unleash them all at once. Or shoot your SMG's without reloading for a period of time. Or slow down time and cause your CQC to become superpowered.

All of these things I could do without. In fact, I would much prefer if they weren't a part of the game. Can't they come up with some sensible feats like improved aim, more combat moves, quieter steps while sneaking, etc?

Still, I guess if I don't want those supernatural feats, I don't have to use them, right?

    Fixed the last sentence.

There is at least one improved aim feat for assault rifles, faster target reticule lock-on, and HtH gets new moves, and I guess things like quieter steps are part of the passive skill upgrades.

  3. However, the writing has always been typically crap.

    :)

    Compared to?

When compared to most other game companies they are miles and miles and miles ahead.

I'm not sure about "most" companies, but their writing isn't all bad. Just a bigger percent of it than we'd like to.

  4. Dead Space can only be properly played with a gamepad.

Sorry, but that's bull****. Unless you have a really crappy mouse.

Yeah, people said stuff like that about the Sands of Time trilogy and Devil May Cry too, I never had any problems that a controller would've solved.

  5. It's always funny that underwear magically appears when one takes off a raider's skimpy outfit.

Bloody Mess = bring it on!

    Nudity = aw hecks no!

Funny how if the game had been made in Europe it would've been the other way around..

Not if I had a say in the matter.

  6. Immanent?

    Means self-explaining (among other things).

I confess I'm fascinated by this. Thinking about it more I wonder if it ties into my issues with status. Were these guys killing for the purpose of status? And if so, is that any different to killing for money, if the money simply goes into fast cars and expensive suits?

They were killing for revenge, not status. Killing the person you want to respect you is foolish (read: really retarded).

  7. Respect = A mix of varying degrees of politeness and awe (however slight, but always positive) maybe?

Then again, respect is just that: respect. Immanent, if I quote my teacher accurately.
