Venetica is action RPGish as Two Worlds 2, and has better combat than Risen, Gothic 3 or Arcania.

Really big spiders are rarely dangerous. The Brazilian wandering spider (the one that likes to hide in banana crates) is the only huge spider that is extremely deadly to humans.

A scoped hunting rifle with better criticals is enough to drop them in one shot. You really only need the AM rifle to one-shot the legendary deathclaw.

I'm now using Cass, Boone, E-DE & Veronica. Veronica doesn't really get to kill much outdoors. I'll still pick up Lily for some more close-quarters support, and Arcade for his questline. I also installed the Richer Casinos mod, just because I love playing blackjack so much. The Strip casinos having a limit of 1,500,000 earnings, though, may be a bit excessive.

Mazzy Fentan is Hale's best voice performance by far.

I actually pickpocketed the activation code from Cpt Curtis right away, but had no option to confront him about it, nor could I report to Boyd or Hsu. I also tried sneaking up the stairs in the tower numerous times in order to overhear Curtis, but each time he went to [CAUTION] immediately even with 100 in Sneak. It's a pretty badly designed quest.

Do companions actually use stimpaks during combat if you put some in their inventory?

I wouldn't waste much time with any McCarran quests. Especially the monorail one, heh. Reload 20 times to make it to the monorail in time to defuse the bomb, only to see it *still* explode ten seconds after departing? Yeh sorry, Colonel, but I'm outta here.

This was the voice actress for Deus Ex 2? Interesting... she also voiced the protagonist in Bloodrayne.

How powerful is melee in the end? My mage's fireballs did 6000+ damage at the end of FoV, one-shotting pretty much everything, but the final boss still took me a while.

I'm replaying and frequently encountering a glitch where my character is frozen in an animation, making the controls stop responding completely... the only way to fix this is quicksaving and quickloading. Very annoying, I'm guessing this was introduced by the new patch (I also don't have the impression that Boone got nerfed). But I am also playing with the Multi Companion mod, so it shouldn't be that much of an issue. Later I'll add Arcade, Cass & Lily, so I can nicely get to all content I missed in my first playthrough without having to lift a finger in combat.

Mage in DA:O was the most fun for me, except that the origin contains probably the most annoying character in the game, and has the gall to make this character your best friend (then again, the female City Elf is forced to marry someone who looks like he stepped out of Deliverance).

I finished 6 of the 8 chapters of Gray Matter, and so far it is the best adventure game to come out in years. It starts a bit slow and the story seems cookie-cutter at first, but just as I thought I had everything figured out, after three chapters the story really starts to twist and turn and now I really don't have an idea anymore how it's going to end. Atmosphere & music are brilliant, and the voice-acting is very decent as well (especially the male protagonist). Puzzles aren't that easy for a modern adventure game either. Really nice work.

I don't understand why Tolkien was even dragged into this. It's D&D that started the image of the wimpy mage in robes that hurls down fire & lightning on enemies. The typical image of magic in fantasy is completely alien to Tolkien... since Arda was supposed to be Earth in a forgotten, mythical age. Gandalf is even weary of using his magic to light his staff in the book, because this might reveal himself to enemies. The only open use of his magic was in the fight with the Balrog. Well, gulp a superserum strong enough and you become like Thor or Silver Surfer. That's what happened with the Sentry, the most powerful Marvel superhero.

I mostly found myself reloading when one of my companions died, which didn't happen a lot. But some dungeons -like the one with the legendary cazador- use a scriped event that suddenly spawns several of them (including the legendary one) around you, even when you're sneaking. Had to reload a lot there to keep Cass alive. Dead Wind Cavern was a pain too... as someone posted earlier Veronica has no chance there. Deathclaws have a very long reach and their attacks knock you back. Without perks like paralyzing palm you're simply toast.
