  1. WOOOT!!! Found my name. I paid somewhere between $100-$200; I helped fund Kickstarter but I'm really thinking I donated somewhere around $50 or so. However thru the Portal I donated an additional $135 cause that's what my order said. Anyways after the latest patch (and its a possibility my name was on there to begin with) I found my name. There are four sections of names Kickstarter Gold Level Backers (many) *Additional Kickstarter Gold Level Backers (not too many) Kickstarter Backers (omg a ton of em LOL) Additional Kickstarter Backers (decent amount) I landed on the final phase........the 'additional Kickstarter Backers' So don't forget..........4 Sections of Credits!! (now back to look at my Strat Guide lol) (not in there LOL; but however it occurred to me; my Backer Tier says "Special In Game Thanks", so duh it wont be published in a book hehe, ooops)
  2. LOL I couldn't see my name either Thankfully it was alphabetical but I checked both Gold Kickstarter and regular Kickstarter; almost saw my name but my last not included. Now I felt I thought I made the survey in time, did I?
  3. i saw this in the 1st build so i'm not sure why it does that. And if i remember correctly when you engage in combat the boar attacks you too
  4. I created a new game. Upon entering the game I checked Cleric/Wizard for their spells. All is good. I checked for Grimoire; that is good too. Got quest to find Thief; killed Thief; quest updated; went back to Medreth and got XP and Medreth left. Did all that within 10minutes; so far...no problems YAY. Now to go back and loot the dead Thief and get the quest inside the Inn
  5. So knowing what I did wrong in my 1st playthrough (needing to use main menu for loading games so my quests dont get broken); I decided to create a new character This time I created a monk (previous was Paladin) I got the first quest in finding the Female Thief inside the INN; now first time I told her to go East (Spare her) and went back to Medreth but quest didnt really update So I decided to kill the Thief and here are my outcomes: 1-Thief dies and 2 party members are apparently knocked unconscious. Suprisingly I was able to escape Top floor and even exit the Inn with 3/5 members. But seeing as the party members didnt come back to life I thought, well I'll visit the Temple for resurrection. Nope that didnt work. Said I must gather my party before entering. Meanwhile thinking lets go back inside the Inn and rest; nope..... I must gather my party before venturing forth 2-Outcome #2 I defeated the Thief and was ready to exit Top Floor but my main character was completely frozen up. I couldnt even exit Top Floor; tried double clicking him like mad and ordering him to move or even collect loot. Nothing....so on to outcome #3 3-Thief dies and now my rogue cannot move. Same as #2 (seriously??!!!!) 4-Outcome #4 Thief dies and shockingly, shockingly enough i have full control of my party; I went back to Medreth, completed the quest and Medreth went away but all 4 outcomes still came at a price and you'll see that in one second.......... My Wizard has no spells!! Yes thats right the BB Wizard has no spells. I mean sure; I can click the Wizard and see Level 1-4 but when I click each Level its supposed to open up his memorized spells and nothing was in it. Now here i thought okay no big deal I can just re load and see if theres a change/glitch. But heck even his inventory lacks the Book "Grimoire" So Playthrough #2 ruined! (total playtime round #2 maybe 30minutes) Now what I am wondering......can Pillars of Eternity Beta support Multiple Character Save slots? I created a Paladin and gave him a name. I created a Monk and gave him a name. Now each of those has its save slots. So I have 6 saves within PoE. Is there a bug that says if I dont overwrite all existing saves that any additional party members can be bugged? Well I will find out on Playthrough #3 when I create another new game...this time to double check inventory, spells before proceeding with any quests!
  6. Serious? And if my party dies; do I quit to Main Menu then load?
  7. ***SPOILERS AHEAD*** **I will highlight questions for easy reply** According to my steam client I have put in at least 5hrs of PoE Beta and I might be at my ends of the rope here. First off here are the areas I have found: Dryford Village Dryford Crossing>Cave>Dryford Ruins Stormwall Gorge>Lle a Rhemen So thats 6 places. Are there more? Aside from the Dryford Ruins I have cleared out all other areas. Upon entering the village I went nuts and accepted every quest imaginable. Like finding some bandit inside the Inn; and trying to locate the missing daughter; and "who ate my pigs"? Well I found the bandit inside the Inn; told her to slip away, went back and I got attacked. Quest didnt complete. I found the Ogre who supposedly is holding the missing daughter but he said he never saw her; asked about the pigs and eventually he just attacked me. Is anyone getting quests completed? Mine isnt. **edit (and yes after killing the ogre and basically wiping away the maps; I have revisited each NPC to see if their Dialogue will update; allowing me to further the quest tracker)** So I had lockpicks in my inventory but it wasnt working while in game but I came to the forums and apparently what I need to do is to read the combat log for the Lockpick Message. I may be shy on my skills or lacking of lockpicks. I ask about the lockpicks because after fighting some NPCs next to the Inn theres a locked door; I cannot enter. Then I descended into the Dryford Ruins and almost each door is locked and I cannot proceed whatsoever. Needless to say 3 characters were 100% stuck; I've even saved twice; loaded twice and nothing. I used a Fighter and the Wizard to clear out enemies checked all corpses and loot and nothing was about a key to the big doorway (or doors). So aside from wiping out Dryford Ruins; is there another sub basement or another location hidden within?? Inventory/Looting. Well I might need to read the forums again but I just dont understand looting corpses. I mean if I have my whole party selected and my main character has nothing but 1 GrappleHook in inventory and I go loot a corpse and choose the "take all" why wont he loot? What is it with each character and numbers on their portraits. At first Im thinking its number of slots available for looting 7 means 7 slots and 2 means 2 slots left. But yet if I select myself which has 7 slots; why cant I pick up the loot? I only came across 1 Camping Gear Crafting? HA; I think I'm still missing ingredients which I cant seem to find. I've bought from the Alchemist/Weapon Store but havent crafted a single item I think aside from hiring an adventurer to test out; and creating a new class to try out, I may just start from scratch (regarding title of thread here) ? At first I couldnt figure out why when I *supposedly die* and rest of party is full health do I get a "You must load a save/party died" error. But it finally occured to me.....way back in Baldurs Gate 2 if my Heroic Main Character dies, everyone basically dies LOL. Sometimes though its hard to tell if you're really dead or just knocked down
  8. and I dont know I might be wrong on this (about it being too long) but I utilized a stopwatch and came up with these results: Upon launching .exe game and hitting "Load Game" and selecting...27seconds If your party has died and you choose "Load" it takes 14seconds When transitioning from a Blacksmith store to the outside it takes..........10seconds My specs are: 6 Core Processor 8 Gigs System RAM 10mb download speed DSL
  9. Anyone know how fast the Beta key will be delivered? I just upgraded my Backer Value; lets say 5:55pm PST How fast will I receive my Beta key so I can start downloading? If I get it before anyone else comments I will re post the timeframe ***Edit** Thinking I was waiting for an email; apparently it was listed in my 'product tab' on the portal homepage...the one to buy/upgrade kickstarter pledges. While now I'm not 100% sure on the timeframe. I did log in at 6:20pm PST and was able to generate a key. So 25minutes at maximum
  10. wow that seemed very easy. Thank you VERY much. That solved my issue. Basically my mouse pointer needs to be in front of the character for he/she to attack front; if the cursor is behind then it will constantly attack from behind. I just played thru the Heroes' Crypt on my 2nd character and had no problems whatsoever with attacking correctly. You helped me a great deal
  11. off the top of my head; I know during dialog I have to position my mouse correctly so it aligns up with the speech I want my character to use. As far as combat/targetting. Well if I use my mouse and point at a barrel, the character still doesnt hit it. But I will try it some more tonight.
  12. No my test is not 100% effective. Even though I'm facing forward and I attack, and while my character automatically fires behind me (not in front) and by pressing the letter D; it does not make the character fire the correct way. So I'm still stumped. I'm not sure why my characters do this.
  13. So I dont know if my current issue is in relation to the recent PC patch and the infamous June 23rd or what but let me say my issue. Okay so I'm in the game. I see an enemy coming towards me; ok now hes in front of me, I hit the attack button but whats this? My character immediately attacks behind me; not in front of me. Needless to say this has to be the most frustrating thing of all. Dont get me wrong Ive now reached 50% of the game. Absolutely love this game. LOL in fact I love it so much that I am playing each character and bring the other characters equivelant to my main character so I'm putting in x4 times the hours. (for instance I'll play from Stormsong Cavern, where you get your party member all the way to the 1st Causeway entrance; then bring each other characters to that point) Point being; I'm having issues targetting things (barrels to break) or even enemies. So its like this; in order for me to actually attack the enemy is that he needs to be behind me for me to attack properly. Now I may have stumbled upon something the last 10minutes of gameplay last night but i havent fully 100% tested this yet. When I'm facing forward, IF by chance when I hit the attack button and my character attacks/swings behind me; if I press the letter D button my character will then attack properly in front of me. But hypothetically lets say that it doesnt fix the issue. What then? I heard that people were having some issues with the recent PC version patch of mixing keyboard letters A and D; lol and honestly I havent really noticed. But anyways here I am, wondering why my character/characters (since its happened to more than 1 character I'm playing) when facing forward does the character always always always attack behind me???? Thanks PS. I'm about to watch a movie here shortly so I'll be back in 2.5hrs (or less). Then I'll go play the game and check it out too. Just seeking first thoughts/fixes before I attempt to play PPS. I dont have any configuration changed. So everything is at defaults. I didnt reverse Y Axis, or X axis, or change any keyboard layouts (by the way, does this new patch allow you to modify the key bindings????)
  14. and I'm sure I wouldnt be buying a game either if it had to have a constant connection and I lived somewhere that the connection was horrible or that I couldnt afford it. Let alone I guess activate it. Then again you need an active connection just to activate your operating system so I guess in my case; lets say in 2 months time I have no money, and then my hard drive crashes, I have to install the OS but guess what; 30 days later I cannot use much of the computer because I cannot get it activated. At any rate, in cases like needing an internet connection I too would be upset. Lets look at this from a different perspective though........the good news is that at least companies arent issuing a DRM on a product you already own months down the road. Lets say for instance; A HA; Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion; Bethesda. Lets be thankful that they arent issuing out a DRM on that game even though we've had it for years..............lol does that make sense? Thankfully these people issue the DRM stats up front before you ever buy it and thankfully they dont ever change once you do own the game
  15. I cant speak for the entire world but I'll just speak for myself. I work hard for my money, or rather credit cards LOL. I've been working straight for nearly 16 years now. I work full time around 36hrs a week and probably only earning 12 dollars an hour. When a PC game comes out, I spend the 60 dollars, I install it. If its a good game, I'll probably just keep it on the hard drive and not worry about uninstalling it. I have a Desktop PC and a Laptop but I refuse to play a game on my laptop; besides I spent 2500 dollars on this desktop and only 700 for my laptop. If its a game that I dont really care for; Rogue Warrior; I'll beat it and un install it but I"ll make sure its pretty much gone from my computer. Yes I understand DRM is attached to your computer, meaning one would have to go thru the hard drive with a fine toothpick to get rid of it. Uninstalling the game via Add/Remove programs and also going into the registry I hear doesnt completely remove the DRM file for that specific game. But ok in the case like Alpha Protocol, it said what??? 5 installs? You buy it, you install it......what is the percentage rate of people that un install the game after they beat it? Maybe I'm different because I have a bigger hard drive that isnt concerned about free space?????? So what, you shelf the game for 6 months and re install it which would make #2 so I guess in the case of APs DRM that means that if people play the game and un install it right away their 60 dollar game lasts them 2yrs whereas other games that dont have DRM (ie Diablo 2) can last them 10 years and have 400 installations??? Is that why people hate DRM? Because DRM usually constraints the number of installs? What about if a person was to reformat the hard drive? I'll admit that I dont reformat my Hard Drive like some magazines say one should.........every 6 months or every year but if people do reformat the hard drive; that would get rid of the DRM file in which it opens it back up right? So wouldnt that seem like a fair choice; buy the game for 60 dollars; play it, un install it, shelf it for 6 months re install it. 2yrs go by you're install limit has been reached, reformat the hard drive from scratch re install the OS and now your PC game has 5 installations left right? At any rate, I guess I just dont see what the big deal is? Ubisoft games now require and active internet connection at all times to play, doesnt that apply to Steam games as well? I'm already using DSL so that doesnt bother me too much; but what does bother me is that when I do want to play and their servers are having hiccups thats whats irrating LOL Anyways just my 2cp PS. Its almost every game I'm interested in buying. I hear people complain that they wont buy the game cause of DRM. Again its not specfic to AP.
  16. My question/topic......Maximum inventory I just watched the latest trailer for Alpha Protocol "Toys" and I thought of a question: What is the Maximum amount of weapons you can carry during a mission and if you find new stuff, can you swap it out or are you stuck? For instance; say you can carry a Pistol and another weapon like SMG (at one given time). Say you can carry Flash Grenades and actual Grenades at one given time. If you go on your mission and you find some cool "shock trap"; are you able to carry it with you, or do you have to swap it out for something in your inventory or how does this work? Or perhaps you can respond saying this game is like either Splinter Cell (limited on inventory space) or is it like Mass Effect/Metal Gear Solid (where you have a cube that stores all new weapons/gear and you can sell it later to a broker) Thanks
  17. I know everyone says "dont trust gamestop.com's release date schedule" but you know what?? In this case I'm so glad I did. After hearing the news that Alpha Protocol was delayed til Summer I was wondering what the heck was going on; ever since November 2009 Gamestop.com reported Alpha Protocol to be released June 1st 2010, so for 3 months I was not expecting Alpha Protocol. Then todays news hit "summer 2010"; funny enough June is Summer so really there might be a chance Alpha Protocl can be released June 1st; and if so I had nothing to fear. I did hop these boards though to find the original press release from November and sure enough it did say 'delayed til spring 2010' and now of course it says 'summer' Ahh well; like I said I'm kinda glad Gamestop.com reported AP to be released June 1st so i'm not totally bummed. Spose worse case scenario is that it gets released by September (3 months past June)
  18. sad sad sad; 2009 was horrible, too many game delays In 2008 I added it up......I bought 10 PC game titles; big ones and not something small like "The Price is Right" In 2009 I added it up.....I bought 5 PC game titles (big ones as well) Wouldve been more. But alas I had to wait for 1-Bioshock 2 2-Mass Effect 2 3-Splnter Cell Conviction 4-Singularity 5-Alpha Protocol 6-Assassins Creed 2 (PC) But anywho. I think I've also given up as far as what gets released when. I think I'll just wait til 1 day before its supposed to come out, check the date, then the next day see if its available. Dragon Age Origins & The Sabatouer are supposed to be released November/December but I'm not holding my breath But to stay on topic here, yeah I just read that AP is coming out next year, Q1 2010. Very sad, was sincerely hoping AP was my next huge game to play, guess not I'm still keeping my reserve at Gamestop
  19. My real name is Larry Tolman I was playing EverQuest (1) and saw a NPC named "Larkin Tolman" Now while his first name wasnt the same as mine, it was kinda cool seeing a NPC having the same last name as me. And I dont think "Tolman" is that popular of a last name; I dont know. But for those that read this, check your telephone book, do you see any Tolmans in there? Reply here and let me know
  20. I dont think we are complaining that AP got delayed (maybe) a mere 20 days its just that 2009 has been *extremely* tough on us for major game delays; it has been mentioned in another thread but: Heavy Rain (3 months +) Bioshock 2 (3 months ?) Dragon Age Origins (by 2 weeks I think) Batman: Arkham Asylum (2 months, then for PC 3 weeks later-Originally slated June 25th for all platforms) Splinter Cell: Conviction (5 months delay) Alpha Protocol (probably) (by 20 days) Still Life 2 (2 weeks) Singularity (4 months) And those are just the games I'm interested in LOL
  21. Well I too want this game in October but I guess I also hope that this game is well done. Just remember that everything you do in this game affects the overall outcome of other events. I am not a game designer so I dont know if its really easy to implement a program but for them to give various offerings from outcome from every NPC in the game (well major ones) probably seems like a lot. I recently saw their "Safe House" video and saw how awesome it was, very intricate work. I know I probably should post it under the right thread but to be able to walk to the mirror and customize your personal appearance and one should probably consider changing appearance after each mission that way you dont have a wanted level. Anyways back on track here. August comes Batman: Arkham Asylum, if you are into that October comes Dragon Age: Origins (spiritual successor to Baldurs Gate) AND hopefully November 2009 comes Assassins Creed 2 But I completely agree with the OP on this. Splinter Cell Conviction was pushed back, Heavy Rain & Bioshock 2 Sabatoeur is due out in December; I hope and I thing Singularity has been pushed back as well.
  22. I dont know if has been mentioned or not but search results for "friendly fire" brought out a lot of threads that has like 3-6 pages each and may take a while; internet explorer 8 kinda helps but not really So as the title says, is there a way to toggle or will there be Friendly Fire? One of the gameplay videos/interviews we (the player) can side with a NPC to become their friend in return we can help them take out enemies but my question; can we hit/kill the NPC we are friends with (teaming up) and or will there be a friendly fire toggle so we dont take out the guys we are teaming up with. Thanks and sorry if it has been mentioned before.
  23. I dont suppose you can say? I'm guessing with a 99% certainty you cannot but heres my question: How long do you have to make a choice when you're in dialogue mode? From the video it looks like less than 10seconds An employee at gamestop commented this: say for instance that your characters wants to be agressive all the time so therefore its color coded like "always red" and each time a dialogue instance appears you always select the red color almost without even reading what choice youre making. So I guess a few questions arise: 1-How long is the dialogue option 2-Is there a default dialogue option and will it be the same color each time 3-Is the dialogue options color coded to the preference of your character in which you dont have to take the time to read what it says? Thanks Though again perhaps none of these questions can be answered right now, bah!
  24. You know its funny, I've actually been keeping up on the videos, news and such since it was first announced (Alpha Protocol) but what the funny part is, is that I'm just now registering for the forums. So I saw the video, very cool. I was curious about asking a question if it gets answered, great if not thats fine. In the video it says that you can choose to go this way or this way but by going this way you may have a little less faction towards the other side (hopefully that made sense) It almost seems in a sense, that it resembles "Splinter Cell: Double Agent", one side is telling you to perform this action whereas your original contact (Lambert-who has been your contact since Splinter Cell 1) is telling you to do this particular action instead. And at the end of the level it shows your so called faction between the two. Anyways, is that what Alpha Protocol is like? That you can actually play the game to where by the end you might be 45% faction here and 55% faction here and of course the replayability is probably good cause then you can be 90% and 10% then reverse. Thanks PS i'm looking forward to upcoming walkthroughs "safehouse"; definitely wondering what all you can do there hehe.
