  1. Not necessarily -- i got away with just Master Speed. Add Master Power Attack and a double-bladed saber, four rounds later, she's done. Repeat when she appears with the floating lightsabers. Although I did get hit once for 25 damage. To be honest, I couldn't believe how much damage my saber was capable of by end-game. I don't really go for the power builds, but my 15 Sentinal/12 WeaponMaster was easily dealing 65-75 damage per hit with Master Power Attack -- 4 hits/round with Master Speed and most fights ended before they even got going.
  2. As they most likely funded the development effort, that seems to be a reasonable conclusion. I hope Obsidian is satisfied with the compensation they've received/are receiving as a result of this project -- since, I'm sure, the monetary rewards were thoroughly detailed (and agreed to) in the contract... The best we can do, as fans/customers, for Obsidian is purchase their games and provide constructive feedback on these forums. To the best of my knowledge, there was no external beta testing. Had there been, perhaps some of these concerns would've been addressed. We can also provide feedback to LA if we feel their management of the project is a bit sketchy (whether they listen, or not, is debatable).
  3. As was mentioned earlier in this thread, I've supported Obsidian with my $50. I'm only about 16 or 17 hours into the game and still on the first planet after Telos, but I am enjoying the story a great deal. It has alot of depth and the NPC's are interesting. I find myself looking forward to the next event. That being said, there is an unfinished quality to the game. Cutscenes don't always seem to fire off correctly, enemy AI is pretty dismal, pathfinding is questionable and the planets are pretty empty. Don't even get me started on the random loot generator. Obsidian signed a contract with LA to produce a game that met certain criteria, for a given cost and would be completed in a specific time frame. I doubt they were forced to sign this contract and suspect they had some input into the details. If they didn't feel they were given a sufficient period of time to complete the game, they needed to either negotiate for more time or pursue other projects before signing anything. I understand that there are always unforseen issues that popup during development, but who in business doesn't deal with these things? It is the joint responsibility of the developer and publisher to ensure the product is as bug-free as possible and is ready for release. I don't see the benefit of placing blame on one party or the other for the game's shortcomings -- both share this burden. Both agreed to the contract. For that matter, both should be congratulated for the game's successes. I only hope that Obsidian and LA have learned some things from this project and that future games will improve upon the good points of KotORII while avoiding some of the pitfalls.
  4. Working...only 2 minor issues that were fixed with a game restart. Asus A7N8X Deluxe (v2.0) nForce2 with 5.10 UDP AMD Athlon XP3200+ 1 GB Corsair PC3200 DDR (Dual-Channel) WindowsXP Home sp2 XFX GeForce 6600GT (with 71.20 drivers) Creative Audigy 2ZS (latest drivers) WD 120GB 7200rpm IDE
  5. You can see combat rolls. I believe it's in the Journal screen -- there's a button at the bottom of the screen for "Message Log". Filter it for combat rolls.
  6. Try here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/game/920601.html Beware Spoilers!
  7. I've never really liked totally random loot generators for games like this (the NWN OC is another example of a questionable loot generator). Some specific items can be randomly generated, but the majority of items are best placed so that they make sense under the circumstances. When I find a Combat Suit on a dead cannock (sp?) on Telos (and nothing on the hordes of well-equipped mercenaries), it doesn't look good.
  8. These are walkthroughs for the Xbox version, but should have information on the Prestige Classes. Beware Spoilers! http://www.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/game/920601.html
  9. Thanks. Unfortunately, tried that -- failure. Toggled from "run maximised" back to "normal" and it started up fine ... once. I'll do some more playing around tonight. I have the 6600GT AGP model also, but using the 71.20 (beta) drivers. Maybe its the beta that's causing the problem? KotORI starts up just fine, though.
  10. I don't know if this problem is strictly related to ATI as I have a nVidia GeForce 6600GT and get the same issue -- When I start the game, intro movies and game run in windowed mode. If I Alt-Tab and select maximixe, I can then run in fullscreen. I'll probably do some more digging when I get home from work.
  11. I'm not sure if this is the same thing, but I've gotten inadvertently shifted into mouse-look mode a couple of times. I believe, that in mouse-look, you can pan the camera around with the mouse but the WASD keys do not allow movement. I'm still on Peragus and have had the problem occur in the Mining Tunnnels and the Fuel Depot. Typically, my character was in a tight space (around droid corpses, in a doorway or at the workbench) when I saw the issue. After toggling the CAPS LOCK key and/or right mouse button a few times (read: beat the keyboard/mouse in frustration whilst muttering various profanities gleaned from 4 years of naval service), my character unstuck and I was able to move normally again. EDIT (a little more info): I am using the default keymap.
