  1. "Early summer." Good news. The gameplay footage in the video is reused though. On an unrelated note, anyone find it ironic that directly after we find out that they added an inventory comparison Yahtzee complains about the lack of one in his Borderlands review?
  2. Well you clearly didn't have to prepare. I did, took an a half-hour SAT course three times a week and got a 2250 (my second time at least). The courses brought my score up from a 2100 to a 2250 so I'd say they were worth it. Variation above 2100 or so is, as far as I can tell, more or less random. I have a friend who took it twice doing absolutely nothing different whose score went up from 2100 to a 2390. Besides, colleges don't care much. 99th percentile is 99th percentile.
  3. SATs = a joke all strategy, not to mention you can take them as many times as you want. they are a horrible measure of intellect IMO you shouldn't be worried unless you didn't prepare for them. the only excuse for not doing well is not putting in the effort to get a good score. Pffft, prepare? For the SAT? SAT's are a joke. I didn't do an ounce of studying and got a 2220 (1490 on the old scoring system, which is only the reading and math sections).
  4. Information extracted under torture is notoriously unreliable.
  5. I take this to mean the game is more or less done at the moment. Well, that's good to know.
  6. A mix of Gosplan and market forces. You're attempting to trivialize something that isn't trivial. There is no simple and effective way of determining the relative value of completely different types of work.
  7. Depends on the job. For coal mining, it's how much coal you mine. And how do you judge the value of four tons of coal mined versus three people cured of cancer or fifty cars made?
  8. LoF, I love your "get paid proportionally to your contribution to society" rhetoric, but there's a rather large problem with it. How do you quantify "contribution to society?"
  9. We're actually talking with a new PR agency that Sega has hired to work on AP matters pretty soon, and I'm due to record some more voiceover for a walkthrough video in the next couple of weeks, as well. Sorry for the lack of info lately, but hopefully things will start popping up relatively soon. While the game was delayed, I can assure everyone that it's very much coming out. At least you post on your forums. While the info has been rather sparse, what has been revealed recently has looked *very* promising.
  10. Overkill - Wrecking Crew We'll wreck your neck!
  11. Will we be able to have a simple laser sight for a pistol, or are we stuck with the pistol scopes?
  12. I remember reading that you can only take two types of weapons on a mission. I wish I could carry only a pistol, tbh. Would be more fitting for my character's image.
  13. Pistols are great if you want to be sneaky - they're relatively quiet, can equip silencers, and are pretty precise, letting you make headshots if you get up close to someone without being seen. SMGs, on the other hand, are great for taking down groups of enemies at close range, provided you don't mind everyone else in the area hearing you - they're loud, but powerful. So I guess it depends on your play-style. Can you be relatively stealthy with a pistol without using a silencer? I roleplay a lot when I play my RPGs, and the character I have in mind isn't one to use a silencer, but isn't one to go guns blazing either. Can I make a character that sneaks around, but also can start a firefight when **** hits the fan without being forced to shoot through the rest of the mission? In short, can you get a good balance between stealth and firepower when going through a mission, or is it pretty much one or the other?
  14. Holy ****, this game gets better with every interview.

    Books

Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe is easily my favorite book of all time.
  16. **** yeah, ARK reunited and is making a new album! If you haven't heard anything by ARK, you need to fix that. Now.
  17. The new translation is from a friend/old schoolmate of mine who now teaches at Boston Latin School. As far as I can tell, it's correct. Personally, I think "Nemo Hoc Sequitur" (No one follows here) sounds cooler, though.
  18. I see "nullus can insisto" is now "quo nemo sequi potest." I wonder how that happened!
  19. OverKill - Feel the Fire Best thrash metal album ever.
  20. Not necessarily true, though probably irrelevant, as I believe it was the former. I have to go find the source again, I read it a few weeks back.
  21. You're dodging the point. There's no reason for anyone to own a handgun. You're not allowed to use it for its intended purpose. Self-defense is bunk - all studies show you're more likely to be shot if you own a handgun.
  22. Handguns exist for the purpose of harming other people. That's what they are designed to do.
  23. Kind of obvious isn't it? Under the premise of course that the resources required to replicate are too scarce to support an entire generation. Only then can you get a selection, be it natural or not. That's not entirely correct though is it? (Which is actually detailed in the article). It's a common misunderstanding that evolution requires natural selection - it doesn't. If mutation is occurring, and even if there are no resource pressures, then if the mutant can survive and reproduce, it WILL (because, well, there's no pressure against it), forming sub-species. Genetic drift is a fairly well-known phenomenon.
