  1. I'm all for free speech, and if it helps someone to vent, I guess it's OK. I'd just note though that constructive criticism is a lot more interesting for others to read than blind hatred of a game no one's played yet.
  2. If you don't like exploitation, then don't exploit it. You can build your character any way you like, I don't see why you'd be concerned that it might be the same as someone else's.
  3. Everyone knows the internet is powered entirely by preconceptions and seething hatred.
  4. That was the guided missile in DX:IW. It was awesome! That's kind of what I meant by introducing more tactics, at least that's one way of attempting that. Don't know how well it would work with a single character or a small party though.
  5. Just use a blank space instead, we'll figure it out.
  6. D&D type combat is OK at first because the challenge is figuring out how everything works. Once you figure that out, it becomes boring because you're just repeating the same things over and over. They can make the rules more convoluted and that presents a challenge for a while, but eventually you figure it out again. It seems to me the solutions are either to introduce more tactical considerations into rules based combat and force you to keep changing your tactics (hard to do) or go to more actiony combat.
  7. So it's confirmed? AP is the first ever GRPG? Oh, wait, that's almost the same as a JRPG!
  8. Oh, well, you're dreaming then. That means they have to provide you an upgrade path for that skill, everything has to be tested and balanced using that skill, players will get confused how you're supposed to play the game and complain it plays like crap, etc. I don't even know how you'd resolve battles when there're a lot of enemies. My prediction is it's not happening.
  9. Certainly they could add high auto-aim just like Mass Effect, for people who don't want to aim for whatever reason.
  10. May be it's because the first time I played it, I missed the entire second part of Onderon because of a bug, and almost missed the first part as well, so I had no idea why Tobin was there or what he was talking about.
  11. As I recall he says some things which assume you sided with Vaklu, but my recollection could be wrong.
  12. They also show up to help you on Telos, and you run into Vaklu's lieutenant on the Ravager, which makes no sense if you sided with the queen. I expect AP will be similar although hopefully a bit more involved and sophisticated.
  13. I don't see how a 20 hr game is going to be more ambitious than DX. Most likely dialog will be a lot more extensive, but for everything else I'm not holding my breath. Having different factions shoot at you or not shoot at you isn't all that ambitious IMO, although certainly a good thing. Edit: It's just like on Onderon, you either fight the Royalists or Vaklu troopers, except sometimes they mislabeled Vaklu troopers as Royalists. I didn't think it was that big a deal, didn't change the game much.
  14. Depends what you're used to, certainly. Anything you become proficient enough in will feel like second nature. Btw, you can't just plug in the 360 controller into the PC as was said, since most PC games don't support it. I have software which lets you do that, but it has its own set of issues, chief among them that the aiming support in the game is for a mouse, not controller, so you can't aim very well.
  15. A good shooter requires complex movement. Using the analog stick it feels like I myself am moving instead of typing on a keyboard. Aiming response for controllers is programmed differently than for mice, so that's not an issue either as I've said.
  16. Don't suppose it'll help with my camera lag?
  17. Real gun is harder to aim than a mouse. Thus a real gun is inferior to the mouse. I have no problems aiming with the controller, and I enjoy using it more. The fact that pointing with the mouse is easier is irrelevant.
  18. Holding a wireless keyboard and mouse on your lap while irradiating your nuts is not my idea of a good time. Also I disagree K/B is better for shooters, to me the controller gives a more realistic feeling of aiming and I can aim just fine, not to mention analog movement control and no WASD, yuch. The only one I agree with is strategy games, I do play those on the PC.
  19. Big screen TV, reclining couch, gamepad designed for games, knowing that every game should run properly.
  20. Right, so the character was too over the top to fit into the story, it turned the game into a comedy and undermined it. The performance itself was fine though, usual John Cleese cheese.
  21. ME characters are badly written and boring, why would it be the king of anything?
  22. Yes, apparently that's what Obsidian has been saying. I guess it's supposed to play more like an action game than an expansive RPG.
  23. http://www.gamecyte.com/2008/07/24/e3-2008.../2378#more-2378 (through Gamebanshee) Looks like a pretty intelligent preview, and goes into some details I haven't seen before. And the guy never even mentions textures, what's wrong with him?
