Just another example of Obama running his mouth without giving it much thought beforehand.
-
No, we've been trying the not last resort for 30 years now. Obama won't nuke Iran. It'd be politically dangerous both at home and abroad. I didn't say anything about nuking Iran. That's the thing about appeasement. The price of taking a stand always seems too high, but the price of appeasement always turns out far, far higher. Oh, Thanks, Russia. http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/from-russia-w...defense-system/

I don't get it.

Wait what? "Balls" you say? You mean Truman in the middle of a debriefing in the war room, pulled down his pants and smacked his balls and salami on the table? "Look at the size my balls! They're huuuuuge! They're big as a clocktower bell! You know what these balls say? They say that we need to nuke the japs ASAP! Any further questions? Otherwise you can discuss this matter with my balls in person!" How did you know? That's exactly what happened! Yes it is, and it takes balls to go to that last resort. Otherwise you're Chamberlain, not Churchill.

There's no way Obama has the balls to bomb Iran, so your Islamic nuke is secure, don't worry.

Tsk, tsk, GD, we're all citizens of the world now. Get with the program, or you'll make the Chairman cry.

What an excellent argument you make. http://www.armchairgeneral.com/the-day-hitler-blinked.htm

Churchill would most likely be removed and Britain would reach an accomodation with Germany if they lost the entire expeditionary force.

If you want proof, study history. Germans should've won WW2, Dunkirk should've never happened, Confederates should've won at Gettysburg and the Civil War. Is history random or does it follow a pattern, is your life random or is there a pattern? You'll never get absolute proof, that's the point.

Preventing arms smuggling is not a blockade. It's the one thing the international community can realistically do to insure decreased levels of violence in the future. -

World opinion is irrelevant, Israel has to defend itself and not rely on anyone else, because they know what happens if they don't. -

No, there were too many to shock you, because you're sitting somewhere safe and secure. -

That is totally ridiculous. Israelis were willing to go to just about any length to stop the suicide attacks. -

KOTOR was content free? KOTOR had more content than any game I've played. -

No, my feelings got hurt by Bioware charging me $60 for a content free game. -

Jade was a last gen game. I bet ME cost quite a bit more than Jade. And really AAA game costs can vary widely, GTA4 supposedly cost over 100 mil, and Shenmue was supposed to be 80 mil way back when. -

I think what the Israelis want is a multi-national force on the border that can't be bribed like the Egyptian border guards. -

You have a team of over 100 working for over 3 years, you're looking at tens of millions. And only a small percentage of game sales go to the developer, so 2 million is a rough guess for a AAA game. Edit: OK, I'll take your word for 2.5 million, but I noticed the price was cut pretty quickly after release, so a lot of those probably weren't even at full price. -

Where did you get those numbers? And no, 2 million is about break even, depending on how much the game cost to make. Edit: Pandemic made Full Spectrum Warrior, which was very good. Destroy all Humans and Mercenaries are supposed to be good too, but I haven't played them. -

I don't think ME did near as well as expected. They probably broke even, but that's about it. Compare their numbers to Assassin's Creed, which came out at the same time, AC probably did at least twice the business. Also Bio didn't get married, they got bought. They don't exist as a legal entity. -

Love that part. Bioware doesn't exist any more except as a division of EA. And the MMO is in trouble, because no one has taken on WoW and lived, which means Bio wasn't worth $800 million. That doesn't mean success isn't possible, but it's not terribly likely either. Pandemic of course made some really good games, but they've slipped badly lately, so their rumoured demise is probably deserved. As far as Bio, unless they get back to form with DAO, I won't even care. -
Mass Effect 2 to appear in GDC

Except I didn't tell her to shut up, or that I hate her, or that she's the worst soldier in the world. My reprimand was quite reasonable under the circumstances, and I'd be a poor leader if I said nothing. Yet the developer decides to punish me for playing the game the way I see fit by taking away what little content is left in the game. If they want your choices to matter, ideally they should provide alternate content instead of just deleting it. Anyway, I didn't even start out complaining about this, I just remarked that she clammed up and thus I didn't see whatever depth her character had, you then proceeded to make a mountain out of a molehill, trying to prove the crappy game is a masterpiece. Anyway, because of your rudeness and hostility I will no longer respond to anything you say. -

It wasn't good enough to carry the game by itself, that's what I'm saying. KOTOR combat was even weaker, but it was still fun, and it worked well in the context of the rest of the game. But I wouldn't play either game just for the combat. -

I chewed her out for unprofessional conduct (gossip about her superior officer). Heh, sounds like she's also a plausible character. You show her that unprofessional behaviour is not tolerated and what do you know...she keeps her mouth shut and does her job. Don't blame bad writing for the character actually acting in a believable way. Don't tell her to act professional and reprimand her when she isn't, and maybe she'll behave differently. I didn't say anything about bad writing. I say whatever I think my character would say, otherwise you're just metagaming instead of roleplaying. A better design would be to end the possibility of romance, but still have her talk about other things so she's a more interesting character. As for combat, it was kind of weak, compared to something like Half-Life 2 or even Halo 3. But the cover, the Biotics, having a squad to command, being able to upgrade weapons and abilities made it more entertaining than an average grind shooter, so for an RPG the combat was pretty good. Unfortunately there wasn't much other RPG content.
