I'm sure the game is out before the Atari marketing can even catch up releasing new footage. Lawl.

Never got the chance to play or even see a RTS on a console, with a gamepad! I can imagine it's not gonna be a hardcore RTS a'la AoE, more like a cinematic, chunky action-RTS where you can select a bunch of Halonauts with the "Y" button.... Oh damn, I better shut up now, I really have no clue how a RTS could work on a console. :D
-
Me too, but the demo was sufficient enough to figure that out. "Go go go Marines!!!! Let's kick arse!!!!" I mean come on, I don't want to be treated like a twelf year old....

I think Halo sucks, the world feels generic and the Humans vs. Covenants struggle is lame. Although knowing that a top quality RTS-developer works on it, I'll try to give it a chance. It's not the first time after all that a AAA-dev can evolve a crappy franchise into a great one actually. Let's hope Ensemble enriches Halo with it's own ideas instead of just milking out the obvious lameness that Halo currently suffers.

X06 Story Telling panel featuring Peter Jackson...
Morgoth replied to Morgoth's topic in Computer and Console
*sigh* From the Bio boards: Quote: Posted 09/29/06 16:10:50 (GMT) by Cat Lance More than likely they used the NWN engine for storyboarding because it allowed movement and pacing in a way a drawing on a peice of paper cannot. Now, everything clear? -
X06 Story Telling panel featuring Peter Jackson...
Morgoth replied to Morgoth's topic in Computer and Console
No, they'll just make NWN with updated graphics. Uh-huh. -
Click here you dork. No here! It's a 40 min long video where Dr. Greg (Mr. President of BioWare Corp.), Peter Molyneux (Dungeon Keeper, Black & White) and movie director Peter Jackson (Heavenly Creatures, LoTR, Big Ape Kong) discuss about story telling generally and on teh Xbox 360. Very interesting what Greg mentioned about Dragon Age is that they prototyped the story in NWN first, played, refined and improved etc. and then brought it to the DA engine. Even more interestingly, Jackson got a bit boring of making movies, because it's always the same structure and experience. He don't see the X360 necessarily as a gaming device, more like a "piece of technology", a choice for entertainment where he can bring his own ideas (and narrative) to it. So, no movies for the X360, but no games either. That's what the Japanese already do all the time, like bringing a musical or Karaoke to their Playstation.... well that's just one example, but still I like that approach. Even though publishers may totally disagree, I say more power to people who don't think so constrained in genres and A to B solutions! Discuss. Maturely, of course. "

Just to round up my Bioshock fanboyism, I thought I should post the link to the official Homepage. Not much there yet, some nice background music, synopsis and screens. http://www.bioshockgame.com/

Forget it, I think I just need a Xbox 360 VGA HD AV Cable.
-
Did anyone here ever tried to plug a Xbox 360 onto a CRT? For people who don't have the money or space for a HDTV, is it recommandable to play X360 games on a PC monitor? Any issues with distortions, bad signals or low Hertz rate? Is it also possible to plug my 5.1 Headphones onto such VGA box? Or does the X360 ship with all necessary cables/hardware?
-
ME looks better and better every time. If the X360 portfolio continues being so strong generally, it really gets me more and more thinking about getting a X360. Too bad I'd also need a decent HDTV, but that's too much money for poor uncle Morgoth.

Sounds cool, I hope they also get the bizzare art direction right. PS ain't PS with NWN2 graphics assets.

Here's a downloadable version of Bioshocks X06 presentation. I haven't watched it yet (don't even know whether that's pre-rendered or ingame), but fanboys and fangirls are raving around like being on drugs. So get it now! Download Edit: Oh, that's what Ken had to say:

This ain't news, Bioshock was always scheduled for X360 and PC only. Although I wouldn't wonder if there's a PS3 release sometime after launch. It's the usual story: Publisher signs exclusive deal with MS, MS can brag around with the magical word "exclusive".

The only Splicers I've seen are angry woman, zombies and clowns. That's not really creepy... I mean I meet such people every day.

Harvey Smith On Gaming With A Social Change
Morgoth replied to Morgoth's topic in Computer and Console
Harvey screwed up DXIW completely, but I think Spector wouldn't have done it better in his position. With a crippled engine like that, you can't make a good game. Nonetheless, I trust Harvey on the creative side (Lead Designer of DX), but wouldn't entrust him another Producer/Management job. -
I think I know what you mean. Remember the initial announcement in 2004? With the cool Insect-human-abomination artwork and the abandoned Nazi-Lab setting? I thought that was way more interesting. Yeah sure, evil Nazis who made crazy experiments sounds a little overused, but it wasn't a WW2 shooter, but set sometime in the near future where you would discover an old Nazi-Lab and encounter creatures more inspired of "The Fly". I'm not unhappy with the new underwater-setting either, but the BigDaddies or Splicers aren't closely as scary as humans turning into Insects.

Remember guys that's the first playable build Irrational showed at the E3. This week at X06, Irrational will show a new gameplay video that shows actual gameplay... although I've no clue whether that video will be released for public. Edit: Oh, my one thousandth post! Lovely embedded in a Bioshock thread! That's the way how it should be, yes!!!

The best turn-based combat (and actually the only game where I really enjoyed TB) was Gorky 17 (aka Odium). Fallout's combat system was just okey dokey. But now it's 2006. Please stay away from TB combat, devs!

Throwing away games is uneconomically, Frau Raven! Sell them over Ebay, or be a kind person and just give the doggies something to play.

Grobnar has an affinity for kobold bards? Now who could he mean by that??? Damn. And I thought I'd have got rid of that unfunny joker.

Harvey Smith On Gaming With A Social Change
Morgoth replied to Morgoth's topic in Computer and Console
Well I didn't get the impression he's boastfully in that interview, as opposed to some other devs. Playing "Mr. Important" or not (you wouldn't do that when doing an interview?), he made some interesting points. Sadly, those points barely got into his games... as opposed to devs who don't make points but awesome games. Strange world.
