  1. Nah. It was a bit dumbed down (compared with Irrationals previous work), but still felt refreshing. I personally love shooters that feature emergent gameplay, intelligently written characters and non-corridor gameplay.
  2. I also saw the first 10 min of the Alien and Predator campaign. I was completely underwhelmed.
  3. No, it uses SecuROM as a disc check. In addition, you have to be online during the installation (15 activation limits), you need GfWL to save the game, but can do this by creating an offline profile. When your up to 15 installs you might just as well drop the activation thing, but whatever. That's a Microsoft thing. And you know when MS wants 15 activation limits, then they have a damn good reason for that. Hurr.
  4. Multiplayer was handled by a different studio (Digital Extremes). The Singleplayer was done by 2K Marine, with support from Arkane studios (=double win).
  5. No, it uses SecuROM as a disc check. In addition, you have to be online during the installation (15 activation limits), you need GfWL to save the game, but can do this by creating an offline profile.
  6. Some guys from 2K Boston (Irrational) moved to the team, lead by the awesome Jordan Thomas (Cradle level in Thief 3). That's good enough for me.
  7. I'm gonna buy this day 1, despite all that DRM clutter. But yeah, first reviews state that it's writing and gameplay are better than BS1, plus it has a Jordan Thomas bonus.
  8. Can't Bioware just stop making romances/sex/love bs at all and maybe start working on some kind of, ya know, intelligent plot? Oh yeah, I forgot. They only want to make big and easily digested blockbusters anymore....
  9. 99% sure it will use Steamworks. Just like Empire TW did. Alpha Protocol will use it therefor too.
  10. Damn, the only Firaxis game I ever played was Civilization Revolution, kinda a dumbed down Civ4 I heard. Oh well. Either way, have to try this Alpha Centauri people are speaking of. Does it run on Win7? Is it true Sid Meier is working on a X-Com game?
  11. Maybe I don't want to idendify myself with some character, maybe I just wanna be myself? Anyway, for an RPG not an option I admit. That's why it would be interesting to see Bioware making a non-RPG game for a change. Just for the lulz.
  12. And why would you need that all the time? I don't see any benefit there looking all time on your arse or seeing enemies from around the corner. It kills tension. FP > 3rdP
  13. Bioware should finally stop making that Gears-of-cover bull**** and start making FPS/RPG hybrids. Squad based like SWAT 4, intensive like FEAR, plus some dialogs thrown in (for the Bioware fans, of course). You can even call it an RPG.
  14. We were talking about tactics, not difficulty. The problem with ME was that every battle scene was designed like a film set with some AIs plunged into it, that didn't allow any dynamic behavior, or unpredictability. That's what I miss so much in modern action games. Just increasing the damage/health values of an AI is not what I consider challenging. At best, it's just frustrating.
  15. Tactics won't really matter. They didn't matter in ME1 either. Because Action-orientated games these days are made so easy that fideling around with all your options seems to be just artificially prolonging your fight. What works 95% of all time is just aim and hold down your LB until enemy is dead. Sadly, but true. Edit: The last really good action game I remember that required you to think and use every tool available was SWAT 4. Too bad we don't see these kind of games these days anymore.
  16. More like Boringlands, amirite?
  17. One niche game that I'm a bit interested in is Culpa Innata 2. Too but the devs have gone completely silent.
  18. It's also too easy playing as an Alien. I remember back then in 1999 I died like a fly, but now....
  19. I don't even want to imagine the (inevitable) sex scene with Subject Zero.
  20. I finished Batman Arkham Asylum today. Good game. Now playing some AvP1.
  21. Meh...this is just marketing. Remember Dragon Age had dumb and juvenile marketing too, but it turned out to be a decent game. No worries there.
  22. It's what all the cool kidz want these days.
  23. I don't like that recent movement of Bioware to use actors/celebrities for their ingame characters. It cheapens the experience, and feels kinda forced from EA.
  24. The new AvP Classic 2000 runs flawlessly on Windows 7. It also supports Widescreen. I abolutely love the atmosphere and soundtrack of the Alien campaign.
  25. "This is a video game? That's crazy!". Geez, this gets dumber and dumber....
