  1. The United States is actually one of three countries that compete at the Olympics that provides zero - zero - funding for training its Olympians. It does give a small monetary reward for winning golds at $15k, I think it was, but it's a relative pittance, particularly compared to some other countries that give upwards of hundreds of thousands of dollars (and smaller reward for winning silvers and bronzes). The U.S. Olympians certainly have other advantages that some poorer countries don't have...but they could easily obtain those same advantages simply by sending their athletes to the U.S. or other Western countries to train (...and some of them do do this). So yeah...
  2. https://streamable.com/0s9a actually, phelps loses to lochte, apparently
  3. and that's 22 for phelps maybe he should come back for the 2020 olympics
  4. The day I noticed Ocarina of Time had an E rating is when I realized parental ratings are complete baloney. As a wiser man than me put it, "Is this game rated E for horrific imagery and gore?".
  5. Um...because a lunatic is just that: a lunatic. Trump, however, is running for president...any lunatic actually deliberately making threats is obviously worse in regards to their personal character than in Trump's off-the-cuff remark (not that he really seems to make any other type of remark...), but until they're running for president, who cares? The only people that should be concerned are the police and the Secret Service (unless they're deliberately ignoring said lunatic for political reasons, in which case it then becomes our concern).
  6. but what if I want you to use rodent avatars instead
  7. I don't denying it, I am just pointing out that you are by that giving up a part of your independence. In EU is desire to supply resources from cheapest source, but by that we are giving part of our independence to hands of few who control such sources. Far fetched comparsion but still relevant i think You never actually established how it's "giving up your independence" in the first place, though. As far as I'm concerned, the ability to have self-driving vehicles will increase independence, not decrease - people who do not enjoy actively driving will now be able to avoid doing so the vast majority of the time while still being able to use their own vehicle that they can direct at their whim, as opposed to having to currently use public transportation that they do not control...public transportation that is woefully lacking throughout most of the U.S. Laws will still require that the person sitting in the driver's seat have a valid driver's license and be able to start driving at any moment, and self-driving vehicles have a manual override...so what exactly are you seeing as a "loss of independence" here?
  8. A great many people do not have the options that you have to realistically give up having to drive their own vehicle. Furthermore, as Hurlshot's posts were evidence enough of, there is obviously going to be some overlap between the people who cannot realistically stop driving their own vehicle and people who do not like to drive (or at least do not like to drive in some circumstances). Consequently, you can see how there might be a desire for self-driving vehicles. I'm not aware of the American car industry's attempts at destroying public transportation. I mean that literally: I am ignorant of the subject. Do you have any links so I can see how that came to be? Public transportation over such a ridiculously large landmass was always going to be a struggle...so I'm curious as to how it was deliberately made worse.
  9. And where do you live, exactly? Unless you live in the middle of a legit city, buses are very often either not a realistic and/or timely method of transportation for way too many people. Given that Hurlshot mentioned driving on a freeway, I would guess he does not live in the middle of a real city, otherwise he would not need to drive on a freeway to begin with. I also personally despise being in a bus, so the point is rather irrelevant to begin with.
  10. aand that's #21 for phelps
  11. and that's 20 golds for phelps

  13. How do you figure? Everywhere I'm reading, it's a true crack, not a bypass.
  14. It wasn't a crack - it was a bypass*, a bypass that is no longer functioning. However, Denuvo, the protection scheme that protects Doom and some other games that have been "unpiratable" over the past 6 months or so, was apparently just fully cracked. *A bypass is different from a crack, in that, essentially, it simply fools the DRM into thinking everything is as it should be...whereas a crack removes or disables the DRM in its entirety. Bypasses are not considered to be real cracks, and often have issues - refer to the Titan Quest piracy debacle, where some of the DRM protections were bypassed, but some were (unknowingly to the pirates) not, leading to a game that appeared to have performance issues and was super buggy, which then lead to it getting bad early reviews and press from pirates...but in reality, it was just part of the DRM scheme trying to do its job.
  15. From everything I've read, it's the Chargers. Literally every other #3 pick since the implementation of the rookie wage scale has gotten what he's asking for (and sometimes more, and players drafted below #3 have gotten what he's asking for - and what he's asking for is either changing when he gets the money, or the offset language, which is perfectly standard for high 1st round picks). He's literally only asking for what all the other players in his position (and many below!) have gotten - I'm sorry, but that's all on the Chargers. Pay him what he wants or lose your #3 overall pick. In regards to a trade, I believe their ability to trade his signing rights ends either today or tomorrow (e: yep, ends on the 9th). After that, they only have the ability to sign him...and since he can afford to sit out (since his family is in decent financial straits), he seems pretty content to sit out this season so he can re-enter the draft next season. He'd still be drafted highly, particularly seeing as other teams know why a deal didn't get done to begin with. (e): For the record, Bosa is now the longest holding-out player since the new CBA/rookie wage scale was implemented.
  16. The Bosa holdout is just ridiculous. Why does San Diego have to play hardball with rookie contract language that is totally standard for the 3rd pick of the draft? ...
  17. Hmm, that doesn't seem right...
  18. I also don't much care for the comparison between somebody who's not a president and somebody who is/was...the fact that you're already making the comparison BEFORE she's president is not a great sign of things to come... ...Of course, the other choice is still Trump...
  19. Uh, never mind. Apparently, they burned the field or something, so it's been canceled.

  21. FOOTBALL IS BACK, BABY. Uh, sort of.
  22. How can you still be this upset about a post that wasn't even about you, and for patently obvious reasons*? Show me where the bad man touched you. *Namely, while you were the only one that had currently posted in that thread at the time that Hurlshot's post could be even sorta applied to (...and in reality, it couldn't, because you never mentioned blaming religion/Islam, so this should've been your first clue that his post wasn't replying to or specifically about you), the thread was one of many similar threads with similar subjects (i.e. violent attacks) over the past couple of months where what Hurlshot said perfectly applied as well, where there had been multiple people specifically blaming religion/Islam for violent attacks (when there was opportunity to do so, anyways).
  23. Given that they mentioned specifically "General Discussion", a name of one of the sections for the PoE subforums, I think they were talking just about those PoE subforums.
  24. The guide I'm reading on reddit for "how to obtain high end gear quickly and efficiently" is for a previous patch (it's specifically labeled "pre-1.1", so I assume it's no longer working). The subreddit for the game is not quite dead, but...yeah, I got nothing, especially seeing as how, again, I haven't actually ever played it. Sorry!
  25. As I understand, there's not much more to it than the Dark Zone and the later game content in general sucking, and that's why it's basically dead (relatively speaking) on PC, and why it flipped from initially having good user reviews to having poor ones. I have not personally played the game, but that is my understanding of why it wasn't much liked beyond its initial release.
