  1. Yeah, unlike the Diablo games, your character is just converted to non-hardcore. Takes away most of the fun...but so does insta-dying because of lag.
  2. This has been the case since goldbox RPGs. Aoyagi doesn't know the history CRPGs and injects modern politics where they are not needed. I grew up with D&D and CRPGs, and so while I can understand Aoyagi's point (because you generally assume that humans and other human-like races will presumably match the physical tendencies/limitations of humans in real life for the most part), it is also kind of just a given for me that both men and women are relative equals - at least the warrior/adventurer-types - in these sorts of games. It's interesting to envision how trying to get closer to the tendencies of reality would play out in terms of stats: women might get a decent penalty to STR (maybe something like -3 or -4 in D&D?) and a smaller one to CON (maybe -1 or -2?), but would get...hmm, women are supposed to mature faster than men, so maybe give them an extra starting feat (or the equivalent) or something like that? Or you can just continue to do the easier and more generally inoffensive thing and make it not change stats at all, like they do now. ...OR you could provide some kind of option like that that either sex could take: take some sort of stat penalty in order to get an extra feat or special ability, thereby providing a sort of option to emulate it (IF you want) while giving more character customization. That seems like the best choice to me (although perhaps it's a little too much for initial character creation), but what do I know? It's good to keep in mind that these are supposed to be FANTASY games (...and I don't mean in terms of genre): whether you're a man or a woman, whether you want to play *as* a man or a woman, it's supposed to be your character as you envision it. Is it really that big of a deal to provide the option for unrealistic character builds when everything about this is ridiculous and unrealistic to begin with?
  3. I remember getting to around level 40 in hardcore when I played, and instantly dying when there was 1-2 second lagspike just as I happened to run into a very fast champion (or whatever they call them in PoE) at that exact moment. That's when I realized that permadeath in MP is not for me.
  4. Its score has risen. It's been like, what, 24 hours, so it's not exactly a surprise it's been fluctuating given the short time frame...in fact, realistically, with the exception of knowing that it apparently(?) is suffering from crashing problems/bugs, I'm not sure what worth such early Steam reviews have anyways. Most of the top reviews (including the positives) are after like 2 hours of playing...isn't it supposed to be a long game? Feel like people are reviewing it just for the sake of being able to affect its score so early on...
  5. We are all Nazis on this blessed day.
  6. For Keyrock:
  7. I had surgery on my wrist and it'll be healing, near unusable, for the next few weeks. It's very annoying to do everything, including typing, one-handed. I also have to keep my hand elevated at all times (to help it drain, apparently) so I've been alternating between looking like a schoolchild with their hand constantly raised and a neo-Nazi. My entire hand (from the fingers to the knuckles to my palm and then wrist) are also quite painful, which I hope will fix itself eventually, otherwise this entire operation will have been completely pointless. (e): Also, technically, they did give me some vicodin for it, but I don't like using narcotics if I don't have to and have just been toughing it out with just a little ibuprofen once or twice a day instead. Mixed results with that so far, but I probably won't bother using it.
  8. I mean, in terms of the presidency, there's not much that can be done until we move on from first past the post. Even if a major third party did rise, it would just cannibalize the others and likely lead to Congress selecting the winner. For non-presidential elections, sure, third party candidates can work. For the presidency, we're in need of election reform before it becomes realistic, though. And quite frankly, hardly anyone seems to care about this issue, so things aren't likely to change anytime soon.
  9. Uh...plus the other ~3 months that you're missing, yes.
  10. Take Your Eyes Off the Ball by Pat Kirwan. ...Football offseason is too long.
  11. Wow, that image (and text) is horribly made. What were they thinking?
  12. Uh, well, whoever was worried about Scaramucci being too much of a "smooth operator"/talker (James?), I, uh, don't think you'll have to worry about that. That guy is a total nutcase with seemingly no filter.
  13. The waiver wire only applies to their first four years, too. After that, if they're cut, then they are a "street" free agent (or if their contract just expires, they're an "unrestricted" free agent - the two are different for the purposes of a few things, including compensatory picks). The NFL gets pretty good control on these guys' youth...
  14. Hey, don't do the crime if you can't do the time. ...On a side-note, the waiver system is weird. I understand the need for a draft - an attempt at parity - but I feel like after your original team gives up its rights on you, you should have the freedom to go where you want...
  15. He was claimed by the Jets.
  16. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2017/07/26/the-military-spends-five-times-as-much-on-viagra-as-it-would-on-transgender-troops-medical-care/ Man, that's just silly.
  17. https://twitter.com/PFT_Live/status/890192337695068160 Lucky Whitehead sat across from Coach Garrett and said "Coach you gotta believe me, I did not do this." Coach said, "I do not believe you." ouch
  18. From what I've heard from other Cowboys fans, he was kind of a fringe player with a nasty streak of fumblitis, and was likely to be cut anyways. I don't understand why teams don't ever have more strongly worded press releases, like, "We've heard about (controversy) with (player), and if it turns out to be true, they will be cut from the team. For the time being, we're waiting to hear more by allowing the justice system to do its job." Instead, it's always crap like this, or nonsense like, "We've heard about it, and we're monitoring the situation." That doesn't tell anyone anything about what you plan to do or your values as an organization.
  19. Trump's new director of communications, Scaramucci, is an...interesting fellow, to say the least.
  20. Was the term "net neutrality" coined by a bunch of scumbag politicians, though?
  21. Psh, not really a scam - more exploiting, if anything. Here I was thinking this was going to be Amazon fixing their rental/textbook encryptions or something, which have been broken for some time...but uh, I guess it's the opposite: Amazon continuing to do nothing.
  22. Your steamcommunity custom url. Like mine: http://steamcommunity.com/id/tale You can actually change it when editing your profile. Some jerk has had "Bartimaeus" for as long as I've been on Steam (...which is almost as long as you). I occasionally check to see if he's changed it, but no luck so far. (e): Uh, why isn't "bastard" censored? I mean, I guess it has non-cussing uses, but so do others...
  23. I would assume it's one of the customized ones, one that somebody clearly wants...although I'd be hesitant to make that trade without a (trusted) third party handling the money. Unless Tale meant they'd literally (physically) mail the money, which then I'd say you'd have to receive the money first...and maybe make sure that it's not counterfeit,
  24. Thanks for sharing the story. ...On an almost totally unrelated tangent, I wonder when exactly Seuss came up with that quote. I hope it was before 1967.
