  1. I've been watching the Torchlight streams today and yesterday and I'll likely be getting this. Looks like solid, addictive fun. Plus, it's cheap as hell, will have an editor and features new music from the Diablo composer. Hell yes. Didn't even know about the game until a few days ago, glad I found out about it.
  2. Started a replay of Fallout 1. This game always draws me right in when replaying it, probably my fav game ever. Tagged Science, Repair and Speech. Just fought the deathclaw in the Hub, and just barely made it. Poor Tycho got slaughtered but Ian, Dogmeat and me still live.
  3. If it was posted, then it deserved to be posted again. And again: http://www.maxim.com/girls/girls-of-maxim/...agons-agei.html

  5. Sleeeeep.... Sleeeeeep....!!!.... SLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!!!! That voiceactor is totally awesome though.
  6. 1.23 actually (plus a hotfix which removed SecuROM). As for the camera, I don't know of any mods for it. They did change about the camera options during the course of the patches. With a bit of tweaking I had no problem getting a camera option which worked well for me at least.
  7. I just finished playing a NWN2 mod called 'Live Forever'. It's a very story-heavy, very surreal adventure. Normally, I'm not much into overtly linear and story-heavy games, but this was quite different from anything I've played before. See, this is why I like mods. They can try things which a full-on game developer wouldn't dare try. Sure, sometimes they fall flat on their face, but sometimes you find a real gem. Not perfect but very enjoyable all in all. But yeah, be aware that it's basically a slightly interactive storybook with some (excellent) battles here and there. You can find it here if you're interested: http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=NWN2M...tail&id=389
  8. MotB is really awesome and in my top 5 all time RPGs. However, many of the people who worked on MotB also made a return for SoZ so it's not an entirerely different team. Obviously a different design focus though, which I personally liked. I think it would've been lame to try and follow MotB with something very much like it. But yep, you should now replay the campaign and make different choices. Sure the story is good, but what makes the game awesome is how your choices in the game can impact things.
  9. Asphyxia is a good module. Pretty inspired by Torment, I found the beginning to be really excellent. However, the author lost steam on the project (by his own admission) and I think it kinda shows the longer you get into the adventure. I'm also not a fan of the humor in this mod, but I know a lot of people who voted for it liked it a lot. Definetely worth playing I'd say. Live Forever is better but definetely not for everyone. It's very story/cutscene heavy and it feels more like reading a slightly interactive book. The writing is a bit hammy (better than the average mod writing though) but the story is pretty interesting and different. Some of the battles are very well designed and inventive. Area design is gorgeous and good attention to sound. Good fun just as long as you know what you're getting into (very linear, very story focused). I'm not finished with the mod yet though. Few more pictures. The author once won an area design contest that Obsidian held and you can definetely tell he's got a talent for it:
  10. Started playing a recently released NWN2 mod called 'Live Forever', by the same modder who did 'Asphyxia'. Very, very story-oriented so far but he makes that clear in the mod description, so I knew what I was getting into. Seems quite interesting so far though I've only played for a very short while.
  11. Cryostasis didn't look like the second coming ever, but it was a nice game. Main problem with it was terrible performance, but still. A good game. The Fall is a terrible game.
  12. I guess us Swedes are in a post-apocalyptic mood today.
  13. For those of you who haven't heard, Metro 2033 is a game being developed by some of the original developers on STALKER. There was a trailer/tech demo available sometime quite long ago now, and I always thought that looked pretty bad. But now they've released a new trailer and I must admit this kinda gave me chills: http://metro2033game.com/en No gameplay here, but they've got an excellent atmosphere going.
  14. No, it's a new game, new main character in an updated engine. I really didn't think it looked a whole lot better though and the gameplay was just... atrocious. Seriously terrible. Such a shame.
  15. Tried the Painkiller: Resurrection demo. Wow, I didn't think it would beat Overdose as the most terrible Painkiller game, but there ya go. Worst piece of crap I've played in a *really* long time, what a stinker. I guess I'll have to stick with the original Painkiller.
  16. Yep, and the first patch is underway and set to be released at the end of the month. On the bright side, this game really doesn't seem to have the bigger bugs that plagued the previous games.
  17. They gave Oblivion the same score afaik. Seriously, good news about the game receiving a good review obviously, but...
  18. Nope, it's been released. I ended up getting my copy from ebay, and I also see a number of people ordering the game from here: http://www.hotcd.ru/ Though you'll need to get that site translated of course.
  19. It's been released in Russia, and if you're crazy like me you can import it and apply a sorta crappy fan translation. Normally I'd wait but I wanted to get my STALKER fix before Q1 2010.
  20. I like it! Maybe Cigar Smoking Attire?
  21. I haven't done crap today, on a saturday no less. And it feels good. One thing I'm pretty tired of is the notion that you always have to do something, especially on weekends. Sometimes, I like just taking it easy. I read some, played some computer games, ordered pizza, babbled a bit with some friends on the phone and sipped some whiskey while watching a magically beautiful sunset in my morning robe (is that what it's called in english?) from my little balcony. Lazy day, but good day.
  22. Yeah. It's not like CS at all where there were very clear "checkpoints" that factions could take over. At least not in the first map. In the first map, I've encountered the neutral STALKER faction as well as Bandits. What's interesting is that both of these factions are neutral to the player, at least in the start. I'm guessing that you can choose your allies based on who you do missions for and so on. In fact, in the first "hub", there are members of both the neutral and bandit faction in the same place. I decided to undertake a mission I got from one of the bandits and got the option to betray them for the neutral faction. But it's definetely not the type of war zone we saw in Clear Sky. And maybe even in the first game, I haven't really seen any outposts held by a particular faction yet. I know Duty and Freedom are also in the game, though I haven't encountered them yet. Out in the wild, the small groups of stalkers don't really battle for waypoints. It seems they "float around" a bit more in the area, and sometimes neutral stalkers and bandits get into conflicts. Again, when this happens, both parties are neutral to you until you decide if you want to fire upon on one of them. Perhaps if you kill enough squads of one faction, that entire faction will turn hostile on you, I'm not really sure. What it means in the first map though, is that main threat (outside of individual quest situations) is definetely from the mutants and not from other stalkers. I'm sure that will change as the game progresses though. Another thing is that, in the first map at least, there are a few places where a lot of anomalies have gathered together to basically form a landmark (marked on the map and all). In these places, you often find other stalkers searching for artifacts. I'm not sure how this works, but one cool thing was when I saw a stalker hunting for an artifact get caught by an anomaly and was severely wounded. I ended up giving him a medkit and he actually thanked me and gave me an artifact for the trouble. Was a nice touch, didn't really expect that.
  23. The Sun Mutant is a new enemy introduced in CoP. He cleverly disguises himself as the sun and proceeds to fire lasers at you.
  24. Yeah, I haven't noticed any clear pattern to when they happen at least. Guessing there's a set minimum timer between them (like one in-game day for example), and then a random percentage after that. It's pretty cool how STALKERs will scramble for shelter once it happens, and then once it's over you can walk around outside and see the dead bodies of the poor guys who didn't make it to a shelter.
  25. I'm not entirerely sure how the blowout system works, but I believe there are some "assigned" shelters as you put it. When a blowout is about to happen, you get a message and "quest" on the PDA to find shelter. If you look on your map, it will point out the nearest place you can take shelter in. I'm not really sure how numerous the shelters are or anything and the blowouts themselves are thankfully fairly rare. Plus, it's likely that you'll sleep through some of them as well (you can sleep in the first "base" at least). The weapon and armor modifications is still in use from Clear Sky. That's probably my favourite feature of CS along with the new anomaly system and I'm glad they kept it. I didn't make it too far into CS though so I don't really know what was added and what was not and I've really only seen the newbie stuff in CoP so far. One thing they added that I believe weren't in the previous games is a seperate slot for helmets. I hear CoP adds in some mutants that were cut from the original STALKER. These have already been introduced in various mods for the other games but this is the first time they appear in a "vanilla" STALKER game. I haven't seen them yet though.
