  1. If you fight her near narrow path where you start, you can back away enough where she can not melee you. If you don't want to cheese like that, her attack that gives you wounds is dodgeable, run away from melee range once she does action indicated by explosion icon (you might need to enable combat tooltips for that, I don't know, I have it enabled always). For cipher I used Spider Silk Robe for immunity against paralyze, Saint Omaku's Mercy bow with decisive shots enchant and hot razor skewers food to get 17 penetration. Animancer's energy blade can be good option for melee as it does raw damage.
  2. Fair. I just loaded my pre end game save file and had enough mats for 16 potions (without doing any dlcs). I used 8, but that was with a lot of experimentation, in theory you can do without injuries if you pay enough attention or just use summons to tank.
  3. It doesn't prevent injuries, just clears them, worked for me on unmoded steam version, but adra potions are better, you don't get -5 deflection penalty.
  4. Sure, if you setup confounding factors that favor your particular class - in that particular situation your class will be number 1.
  5. I don't think those +deflection buffs stack and they are fairly short. Rogue - mage would be better as melee dps because of his passives and more resources. You can't get blackbow in multiclass. Debatable on your team composition and what you need.
  6. Some classes aren't the best on their own or in majority of the game, but they are best in party or on hardest bosses. Those include: 1) single class chanter - simply because most hardest bosses in the game are beasts and their anti-beast chant is worth a char slot and summons are broken good in long fights 2) seer (ranger-cipher) - highest accuracy in game that pays off in hardest fights in the game on potd and all the benefits of cipher
  7. Unless you are roleplaying, your character can swap to melee weapons for a fight. It might not be ideal and damage might be lower than usual, but I don't think being best at every situation is a reasonable expectation.
  8. Well all dps is context depended. As an extreme example if there was a fight where there only 1 high hp, high defences mob come one after an another for an hour without break, every class would **** on mage, however most fights are packs of relatively weak (especially end game) mobs with breaks in between them, so being able to just front load all your resources in aoe dps fest will pad your numbers really nicely. If fight would be very long sustained aoe - maybe ciphers would or barbs would win out, if fights where single low deflection mob - classes like rogues or monks would win out, if 1 mob extremely high defences - probably ranger would. It's all context depended.
  9. It seems you are doing really well without any cheese. The only thing I would change - use ydwin for ancestral memory to renew your resources, good luck
  10. Best wizards spells are high tier, you can only get there by being single class and additional power level helps too.
  11. High upfront burst aoe damage with missile salvos, freezing rakes etc. Most "tests" I've seen comes down to who has highest burst aoe at level 20, which is somewhat fair, because somewhere around level 15 most packs dies in 20 seconds or so. However I don't think it paints whole picture, other factors really influence your game experience and generally your dps don't exist in vacuum and is depended on how other team mates synergize, if you are enabled by someone tanking, buffing, healing or not etc. And for me it's kind of irrelevant, because well if murder pack in 20 secs or in 30 seconds it's kind of already meh, process of getting there is more interesting to me.
  12. My favorite is spellblade - you have great dps and mobility of rogue coupled with buffs, debuffs and flexibility of a mage. Spirit lance and minor blights hit in aoe making your guile abilities aoe too. Strong from level 1 to end game. Reminds me a bit of fighter/mage multi in baldur's gate 2, though nowhere near as broken.
  13. Landing your cipher spells more reliably. Look - in fights where you can consistently hit targets - mindstalker will win, in fights with high deflection - seer will. Don't agonize about it - if you are not enjoying it - reroll. Try out multiple builds. Mindstalker is great.
  14. I think seer is hands down best boss killer in the game. You have really high accuracy compared to everyone else +10 from hunters mark, +5 passive from distance, +10 from same target as animal companion, +10 when boss is bloodied. You can consistently land recall agony which is +30% damage from everyone. You get +20 from borrowed instinct. As ghost heart your companion is amazing at tanking early on - completely expendable hp bag. Early on spamming mind blades is great and ectopsychic echo just melts every enemy in the way. In toughest fights seer shines most brightly.
  15. I killed her with Pallegina as paladin tank, Konstanten as chanter, Tekehu as druid and Serafen as cipher. Didn't use summons, actually tanked the boss. Watcher took a nap So her consume attack is dodgeable and indicated by "explosion" icon. She will start using it at hurt or below. Couple tricks I learned the hard way - you have to wait till she starts actually casting it before moving out, if you start runing early she will follow you, I got cornered, but if you time it right she won't move an inch. You can come back in as soon as the animation of first jump plays, she will do second one and the icon will stay, but she won't do any damage. Usually she will do and attack or screech - recovery time - another attack or screech or consume. The dodgy part is that she sometimes play out her recovery time and won't do anything for couple seconds and afterwards her new action will be instant - giving you little time to react. You can still dodge her consume, but at least I needed to slow my combat time. I ended up binding combat speed up and down so I could go max speed when she is just going trough her normal rotation and slow down when I needed to dodge. I scripted druid to heal, seraphen to attack and feed ancestor's memory, konstanten just auto attacked and provided heal and acc vs beasts buffs. So the only thing I needed to do is watch her actions and dodge consume. Oh and resistance to dexterity afflictions is not enough, without immunity you will still get paralysed. And if you try to use auto pause when enemy cast spell - pause will come too late, your tank will already be mauled by a spider. How do I upload an image?
  16. I haven't tried that particular bow, but nothing against them in principle. The red hand has +20 accuracy modal, which is amazing against tough baddies though.
  17. I don't know for sure, I never build rogues as purely ranged, it's more like - at the start of the fight I do the usual - scripted quick buffs (spirit shield, infuse vital essence, delirious alacrity etc.) chill fog, combusting wounds while tanks get most agro, magic weapon - go murder. If there are too many of them for rogue to be safely out - throw some spells etc. If they are pushovers, I don't bother with chill fog, combusting wounds. I guess the only difference I would just not use magic lance, but something like the red hand, as long as you can proc his sneak attack, you are guchi Oh and phantoms that get your weapon are great too.
  18. Pure wizard is great if you want to keep him as caster only. If you haven't tried it, definitely have fun with high level mage spells (lvl 9 missile salvo is hilarious). My personal favorite is wizard - rogue. You have incredible single target damage of rogue, buffs and magic weapons from wizard - option to go in melee or debuff/do magic damage. Absolutely lovely, but requires some knowledge of the game, I wouldn't recommend for first playtrough (though I guess respecs are cheap). I haven't tried fighter wizard.
  19. Rogues are probably best second class for any melee single target dps. They have extremely high passive damage with an easy to fullfil requirements, mobility is good, and upgraded finishing blow is so much fun. Fighter would give you more survivability, but his passives comes in a bit later, though I have seen lots of good cheese with cleave stance.
  20. If attack is avoidable, all you need to do is watch for animation start and move out till it ends. Sounds really simple and possible to do with story characters only without any potions.
  21. I might be mistaken, but I think wounds is some kind of chance on crit, so more stacks of spiders you kill - higher the chance. Maximizing deflection and minimizing spider kills is really important. I can be wrong, but I think I only saw wounds when she crited.
