  1. I have just started a new playthrough and it's actually outrageous that this has not been fixed after so any patches. Outrageous.
  2. as a person who works every single day with lots of Brits, I can say that nothing is more boring than a pretend fantasy person speaking like they're in a high shool production of Macbeth. maybe consider that what is boring to you, will actually be refreshing for a whole bunch of people. and also tell me this - what makes you an authority on how kith from Eora should speak? do you have a degree in Eora linguistics and phonetics? have you created this world and can speak with confidence about how an Island Aumaua raised in the Ixamitl Plains or whatever would sound? what exactly does "appropriate" mean in this concept?
  3. There are easier ways to do it - https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/99140-a-man-of-chimes-quest-how-do-i-save-giacolo/?p=2019569 Dang it if only I didn't hate dragging Xoti around. Giacolo would gladly sacrifice himself to spare you the pain of taking Xoti out on a mission. you have nothing to be sorry about. Nah my PC and Aloth managed to CC the whole room long enough for Pallegina, Eder and Takehu to clean up. Oh, nice job. Giacolo died in my game, but I feel like Pallegina appreciated that we tried at least. I really like having talks with her in this game. She kinda steals the shows, when it comes to companions.

  5. by that logic I should've spent the last couple of years raging about Pallegina's faux-Italian accent. and then she has a faux-Italian accent but she's black in pseudo-medieval times and she's in a fantasy video game and she has feathers... I cannot suspend my disbelief that far, the accent has GOT TO GO. people get hung up on the silliest things sometimes. ---edit--- cannot spell.
  6. the fact that they speak English on an alien fantasy planet is fine. but god forbid they don't speak all fancy.
  7. The story, maybe, is decent. The storytelling and the script are abhorrent. And I wouldn't say "funny". The second game has moments of wit, though.
  8. I'd just sacrifice him and get a cool effigy. As it is Maia's gonna have to be it. I'd call you a fiery whore of a player for sacrificing Maia, but that might be against forum policy. So I will not call you that. If I sacrifice anyone from the party, it's Xoti. I like the rest too much.
  9. Nor should she care. I get her. ---EDIT--- It's just that Pallegina has been othered by everyone in her life, her entire life. She owes no explanations. If she went around murdering innocents, I'd still be able to find sympathy for her - because it'd be the cruel world who'd turn her to that. But still she's trying to be a force for order and betterment of others. I dig Pallegina.
  10. That's the thing, really - you know her. To an average Eoran, she comes off as completely insane. Case in point: Tekehu's reaction to her meltdown during the whole figurine thing. It's reasonable to agree with Pallegina's views, yes. Still, despite her full knowledge of the status quo, she consistently chooses horrible and tone-deaf ways of communicating them to people. To be perfectly honest, I can relate. I come off as an insane person a lot. Representation matters.
  11. As someone who liked Hiravias, I'll just go and cry in the corner over there :D Here's hoping for some sort of cameo in future dlc's. I like him, too! I also love love love Sagani. They're just not really sequel material, if you know what I mean.
  12. Devs didn't choose returning companions for their iconic status but by who had the most sense to be in Deadfire. Eder because of Eothas, Aloth because of his unfinished business with the Leaden Key, Pallegina because of VRC. and the fact that those three are the most liked and most iconic characters from POE1 did not hurt. if people loved Hiravias as much as they love Eder, he'd suddenly have a reason to show up in the Deadfire, believe you me.
  13. Ahh, Rekke just told me that I should take him home and he would show me what fun is. *thinks about what-ifs* *scurries off to write fanfic*
  14. I can forgive Pallegina for her attitude toward the gods. Mostly because my Watcher knows her, but also I know her and I know her story and her pain and I get her. Maia is a soldier with a sense of patriotic duty - I can dig that, even if I profoundly disagree with her actions, I do see the reason behind them. Maia is sane and she is right (from her point of view, even if mine is different). Xoti is... I have no freaking idea what she is, other than extra horny.
  15. Maia and Pallegina...sane? Bouahahahahahahaha Granted, I set a fairly low bar by comparing them to Xoti, but at least there's SOME semblance of logic behind Maia and Pallegina's actions.
  16. everyone in the Deadfire is kind of a piece of crap. Aeldys is at least against slavery.
  17. Personally, one of my biggest gripes with humanity is people who thought that either of the games had a good story. They both had bad stories. The second game is at least fun, witty, and knows when to shut the hel up, though.
  18. I found Xoti to be very endearing at the beginning. And I will admit that what soured me on her was the fact that she seemed to think she was in a love triangle with the Watcher and Eder when neither was actually interested in her. Which was probably the bugs. Doesn't change the fact that I gave her the boot as soon as Maia and Pallegina became available, because hello, sane ladies who kick ass.
  19. I didn't mean anything by anything as well, no worries. Xoti so far infuriates me. I guess it'll be different once I RP a different personality on my next playthrough. And once a patch, hopefully, fixes the relationship progression.
  20. idk, at least I like Pallegina, she's a gorgeous, feathery badass who has long ago ran out of ****s to give. Xoti's... also on the ship, I guess...
  21. I've just had the scene where Xoti loses her crap on Pallegina for saying she'd not super fond of the gods. I hadn't liked Xoti before that. I think she's gonna have some fun wandering around the Port Maje marketplace during all my subsequent playthroughs because girl be crazy.
  22. Please tell me that he isn't. Can you imagine how horrible he would be fully voiced...?
