  1. But... those posts aren't even opposed to each other in any meaningful way... What do you not agree with anyway? Do you disagree that the two sites contain the text he cites and that Fileplanet doesn't have a UGO logo? Do you disagree that game sites have access to sources most people don't?
  2. Maybe you're having trouble connecting to FTP in general? I know I am. I need to turn off internet connection sharing and windows firewall every time I need something from an FTP server, `cos filesharing applications using strange, exotic ports are fine, but FTP? Why would anyone want that? Damn you, SP2!
  3. What did the part about the gray stuff mean? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think it refers to the way how MMORPGs (well, the one I played at least), show the stats of enemies many levels below your character in gray, to indicate that this monster is not a challenge and no longer worth your time.
  4. KotOR2 is like one of those really exciting books that you just can't put down... except that the final 7 chapters never made it to print and instead some guy scribbled down a basic summary of what happens on the last pages, mentioning a few of his favorite scenes and completely forgetting about other, more important ones.
  5. Dammit, I almost finished reading this with a straight face.
  6. Nobody cares that you no longer have the game installed. It means nothing. Especially since you'll put it straight back on when the patch comes. Everybody knows that the game is buggy and people are frustrated. Even if they managed to avoid every single article about this on major gaming sites, just the existing posts on this forum are enough to enlighten people. Furthermore, why would anyone who has not yet bought the game be in the tech help forum anyway? And if it makes you feel any better, people still attempt to dissuade others from buying things, both because of valid concerns and (more importantly) petty personal grievances. Though if you want to keep up with the times, you'll have to exaggerate and lie so that nobody might dismiss your problems as tolerable or irrelevant.
  7. Not to sound overly hostile, but nobody cares. Seriously. It's not relevant information to anyone, nor a paticularly good way of protesting. I mean, I'm not starting my second play-through until the patch is out and I didn't have any big problems. I'll probably take it down, so I can apply the patch on a clean install. So what? Next thing you know, the people who can't even get it to run will be declaring that they are keeping it in the box until the patch is out. You need a bigger hard drive.
  8. No difference really. PC has better resolutions and somewhat different controls. And it's getting patches. Or at least one patch. In exchange for that, you get a bucketload of potential hardware problems. I wouldn't buy it again unless a patch/mod/whatever to add back cut stuff was actually available. Maybe not even then.
  9. While I don't feel it as a personal injury that the game is in the state it is content-wise, I really do hope they take the time to restore some of the almost-complete stuff. I think the time needed is insignificant compared to a full project. Probably. It would also probably have an entirely different mood and writing style, which is what I like most about this game.
  10. Lucasarts owns Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords. They were the ones who sold it to you. Who should provide official tech support and where isn't up for discussion. Lucasarts does, on their own site, and whatever assistance we get here (apart from the patches, which LA commissions the Obsidian team to do) is a bonus effort on their part. You cannot sue them for not doing Lucasarts' part of their contract for them well enough. You cannot sue them for suspending their forums (not all communications, mind you), because you are in no way entitled to them. The forums will be taken down and then either brought back or not. I hope they will be because I enjoy hearing from Obsidian in more personal ways than grandiose press releases. Not because otherwise I wouldn't get tech support.
  11. Yes, it is. I mean, if there is incorrect data recorded in your save, what exactly do you propose they do about it? Overwrite all saves uniformly with the same values that may or may not have anything to do with your game? Reset the area you are currently in? How many other things could that break? I also don't see where that post says that loading issues won't be fixed.
  12. So now Obsidian is responsible for imperfect programming everywhere in the world? You sure are building a strong case there. I can't wait till you guys suing them for the hack job they did on Windows ME, when they were bound by contract to give you perfection in digital form. Right, anyways, this doesn't seem to have gotten through yet, so it seems useful to repeat it: These aren't the official boards for KotOR2. It doesn't matter what you consider them to be (I mean, I could consider you an Obsidian employee because you're posting on these boards and harass you for it), the ones hosted by Lucasarts is where you should get tech support. They got money to make a game for Lucasarts. Not to hire support staff for something that is of absolutely no use to LA and even a bit of a bother sometimes. Doesn't seem to prevent them from acting like ones.
  13. How... reliable is this GameDreamZ site? I hope this isn't getting announced in the same E3 booth as Microsoft's annual purchase of Bioware. Well, actually, I hope it is. I don't really like the idea KOTOR games being mass produced like this.
  14. I'd love to have a better manual. Heck, I'd be happy if the discs came in a box that is capable of holding them without the risk of crushing a few, this time. That's too much to hope for, unfortunately. As far as I know, though the content is written by the developers, everything depends on the publisher. (And obviously, they are the ones who make it physically.)
