  1. That's a good point about it being somewhat of a placeholder. I'm sure we'll be dragged off to another part of the world soon enough. And future advances with teleportation could make for an easier means to travel around. Maybe we'll be able to experience multiple regions via teleportation, instead of sticking to one area per game. I'd also like to see White that Wends. But I'm guilty of my character being a Pale Elf from there. In all honesty, I hope this series continues on for several more games. I'm fascinated by the world it's set in. I can't remember the name of the island, but at one point I had to slip passed this giant to make it a small camp on the other side. The people there were part of some explorer's guild from the Living Lands. You could sit and speak with them about their adventures, and they had such interesting stories from there. I hope that one day we'll get to see all of Eora.
  2. Well, they all do promise to meet again someday. Right now my only gripe is with the Watcher who suddenly decides to ditch them and "go home" (where exactly?). I liked it here in the Deadfire, I don't want to go anywhere until the next game, thank you very much. The only reasoning I can think of is to check on the destruction of Caed Nua. I would have preferred to stay in the Deadfire as well, but I think at least returning to check on the ruins makes sense. We ruled that area for 5 years, and I vaguely recall that Berath said around 331(?) people under our care living within the keep and surrounding lands died. I was under the impression that as soon as Eothas popped out of the ground and snatched a portion of soul that we were oblivious to the rest of what happened, having been tossed into the in-between. By the time we return to our bodies we're already out in Deadfire. So I can see (from my character's perspective) feeling the responsibility to at least go back to Caed Nua to survey the destruction. ...But I would have also returned to the Deadfire afterward. My Watcher isn't from the Dyrwood, doesn't have a particular fondness for it, and has a love interest back in Deadfire. He also has the Drifter background, so sticking around in the Dyrwood definitely wouldn't be in character for him. But the Deadfire has the open sea, plenty of adventure to still be had, and the companion he's in a relationship with. I would have had him remain there until the next god drama dragged him away. So that's kinda disappointing we get stuck back out at the Dyrwood (presumably).
  3. Thank you for all the replies! I suppose that makes sense for everyone to have commitments that require them to be elsewhere. Although it sounds bittersweet that the relationship either ends, or takes on a long distance quality via Xoti and Maia. I hope there's at least a nod to them in the next game. That's also interesting that Aloth has the option to remain with the Watcher. I'd like to take that as a sign that he'll be returning in the next game.
  4. I have yet to beat the game, but I'm curious and don't mind the spoilers. Do any of the romances end on a positive note with the companion staying with the Watcher? I know a couple made it sound like said companion had their own duty to attend to, and couldn't stay with the Watcher. I'm not sure if they're all like that, to make it easier to explain for why they wouldn't potentially be in the next game, or if it does work out for them, and they perhaps become a returning character. I'm just curious how any romantic relationships from Deadfire would carry over to POE3.
  5. I noticed there were options to both Furrante and Aeldys about asking if you could take the third chair after killing Benweth. I didn't select those options, so I'm not sure if you can take that position and work your way up. Taking control of the Principi does sound promising, though. My character also happens to have the Old Valilia background.
  6. I'd like to point out this little nugget. I so badly wanted the option to pull Xoti aside and tell her about that. She's so wrapped up in her faith that I don't know if it would have made a difference, but I would have liked the option to do so.
  7. I had no idea you could romance a character with negative approval. I wonder if this only applies to Aloth? Mm, I'm hoping it's just a bug. I know you can only speak to party members to a certain extent, but from my experience it's been kinda lacking. On the bright side -- since I've now been made aware that I'm missing a large chunk of Xoti's dialog, and that the other companions are bugged, it looks like we have conversations to look forward to in the future at least.
  8. Thats insane, I had her for the first part of the game and barely scratched the surface with her dialogue, even though she gained 2 disposition pretty fast. I wish the devs would speed the timer or something. Yeah, she's been in my party the entire time that I've played. Her romance with my Watcher unfortunately felt super rushed as well, although I know there were disposition bugs. But yeah, she seems to have the companion quest that you can finish the earliest, and with her falling for my Watcher so quickly, and with all that missing dialog from her.. she comes across as kinda empty. Although while we're on the topic: has Eder felt particular quiet/bugged with his dialog as well? Serafen and Aloth seem to have so much that they can discuss with you, but I haven't had any additional dialog options with Eder since we washed up on shore at the start. Perhaps it's just unique to Aloth, but I appreciated that I could ask his opinion on how he felt about the other factions. When slavers came up in the Principi and VTC, I just wanted to confront Pallegina with how could she be cool with that, but she didn't say a thing during that quest exchange. Part of me is like is it bugged, or am I just expecting too much from the game's characters. Sorry this turned into a giant ramble. D: @Morhilane: Oh geez, thanks for the heads up on that. Definitely makes sense on why there hasn't been much character exchange outside of some spare party banter.
  9. Her quest is also bugged and spoils the main plot prematurely: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/98186-xotis-quest-spoils-main-quest-spoiler/ Yikes! Thankfully that didn't happen to me. Although I'm big on character interaction, and knowing that I've missed several conversations with Xoti makes me worried that I've missed out on the other companions as well.I think I might tuck this game back into my library until a later date.
  10. Wow, I just went through that video and there's a bunch of dialog that never came up for me. I hadn't realized how bugged Xoti was. Now I'm wondering who else (if not all of them) are bugged like that. I have almost 40 hours in my current playthrough, but maybe I should just wait for future patches. I'm not one to rush back into games like these.
  11. Thanks for the reply! That's interesting what you said about Birta. In my game she has points in Boatswain, Helmsman, and Cook. Maybe it's bugged that she has Boatswain? And the injury issue seems to apply to both kith and non-kith crew members. And Shieldsister Daelia is my surgeon, a wood elf.
  12. I think part of my fondness of Xoti is that I like her voice actress, Laura Bailey. Even with that wild southern accent, I find her character to be endearing. But yeah, my character isn't particularly fond of the gods, so it's usually a groan when she starts on about Gaun. I'm still in Act 1, so I'm hoping there's some way to either nudge her against them, or at very least make her question them, similar to Eder. But I'm not sure where the story goes with Eothas, so I guess I'll see.
  13. So I've ran into this a couple times now, and seems to consistently keep happening whenever I'm in this particular situation. Whenever I enter into a storm, a random crew member will always comment on "If only we had Boatswain." And proceeds to tell me how those are the best to have during a storm. At first this would make sense, as I only had the initial ship you start with, and there's no position on there for a Boatswain. But I've since upgraded to the galleon, and have Birta the orge in the Boatswain position. She has two stars in that particular skill, and I still get the comments that I don't have a Boatswain when I enter storms. There's also no special dialog option for one during storms (if there's supposed to be.) The second issue I've noticed is having injured crew in the resting bay that won't always register. For example: I had 3 injured crew members after a ship fight yesterday. I've had a surgeon in place since the start, and so I stick the 3 injured crew members into the resting slots. As I'm sailing around it'll show 3 injured on the world map meter. But over time it'll go back to 0, which I know to be incorrect since they all had over a weeks worth of healing needed, and not that much time has passed. Checking in on them in the resting bay will show me that they're all still injured (although patched up somewhat.) Oddly enough, switching around their positions in the resting bay seems to fix this. They'll reappear on the injured meter on the world map and eventually get healed.
  14. So there I was, wandering around with my companions... when Xoti starts up some party banter with my Watcher. There hasn't really been much between them in terms of dialog since Xoti got together with my Watcher, so I was curious to see where this was going. Xoti: "Did I tell you? You were in my dreams last night, Watcher." I'm like ohhhh! :D Xoti: "You were on your knees. Before my god. And I couldn't stop screaming." .... D: Oh Xoti.
  15. Thanks for the replies! I'm happy to see that it's not completely forgotten about once your Watcher ends up with someone. I'm a sap for romance in games/books/shows etc, and there's nothing more disappointing than seeing two characters end up together and have it never brought up again.
  16. Diving in here to ask a quick question. Is there more to character romance after a companion admits they like you? Storywise I'm still in Act 1, and running all over Neketaka completing quests. Xoti came forward about liking my Watcher (oddly enough after arriving at the temple of Gaun ,) and now I have the two of them in a relationship. I know there's relationship bugs running rampart right now, so perhaps she's not supposed to end up falling for my Watcher that quickly. But since I'm still in Act 1, I was just wondering if there's more to the romance, or if that's about it in terms of Xoti acknowledging it or any story related bits with it. I have yet to see any additional dialog options with her (beside breaking up with her) since my Watcher got together with her. This can be with character romances in general, and not just necessarily with Xoti.
  17. What is bothering me is that the Kind Wayfarer ending is being retconned, ignored, as if I never completed her quest, and thus, she was disgraced (Caravan guard ending instead). A character being angry with me about some decision I made, that's all right, choice and consequence and all, but a character being angry because something I never Actually did, is frustranting! It is just "Consequence" with no choice at all... They ignored my decision and put the worst state in the place and that is whatt bothers me... I was bothered by the retcon of her being a Kind Wayfarer as well. Much like you, I felt like the game was ignoring the fact that I had put time and effort in to complete her quest in POE1, and was now acting like I never bothered to help her. While she doesn't appear to comment on being a Kind Wayfarer, and we're given the same guard background as those that hadn't finished her quest.. her breastplate does comment on the Kind Wayfarer route. It doesn't mention she was one, but it does detail how we chose to change the trade agreement to help out the Dyrwood, and that she was kicked out and banished because of it. So at the very least there's acknowledgement there for our particular ending. I also haven't gone tooo far into the game while the import bugs are running around, so perhaps there's further dialog that coincides with our particular version of Pallegina.
  18. I'm glad you brought that up. I actually forgot about her breastplate having additional story info. I haven't used the beta hotfix, but my breastplate does have the correct information about the alternate trade deal being made to help the Dyrwood, and how she was banished for doing so. That makes me feel better to see that the game acknowledges that I did go that route with Pallegina in POE1. For whatever reason the Kind Wayfarer part seems to still have been omitted, but at least I know she's behaving towards my Watcher in a such a way that reflects the trade choice we made.
  19. I actually made a thread asking if his reputations were a bug. My import didn't carry over correctly, and my Mayor Eder had turned into Night Market Eder. After using a fix to get the correct version of him, I noticed his reputations hadn't changed at all. I found that odd with regard to his stance on Eothas, as I assumed the Mayor version wouldn't be all chummy with him and his followers after the events of the first game. I never got a response to my thread, and it appears his reputation on Eothas stays the same regardless. It's just odd watching him give approval to Xoti about Eothas related things while having the Mayor version, and especially after what Eothas did at the start of the game. But at one point he did pull me aside to express concern about how he didn't like how wrapped up Xoti was in her faith, and that he couldn't respect her. But he says this after approving of other things she had said about her faith, so maybe that's still broken on some level. I'm a bit conflicted on that. I've had some conversations with him that make it sound like despite everything that happened he kept wanting to believe and obviously Eothas rocking up and doing his best Proclaimers impersonation could provide the fuel for him to pretend the things he'd seen didn't mean what they did. There even seemed to be a conversation pointing directly at that last part. I guess one argument could be made that he's pro pro-Eothasians and anti anti-Eothasians (please tell me I'm not the only one that hates them being phrased like that ) for defensive reasons more than anything else, that he doesn't want his already tenuous grip on his faith shaken anymore than it already has been. Still you're right in that it does seem a bit odd, (I have the same ending and the same traits obviously). It's possible the traits are hardcoded and can't be altered based on background. That would explain Edér having anti/pro leaden key traits while Aloth has none since there's no possible way to line those up with his main ending choices. That's a good point. I remember an early conversation with him along the lines of remembering Eothas as he had been in Eder's youth, compared to how he is now. Like he still wants to believe in that version of him, compared to everything that's been going on with him now. On the reputation wheel alone, I think it's hard to express that doubt. You're either for or against something. There isn't an option for in between. But my conversations seem to be bugged to some extent, so hopefully once that's all taken care of I can get the full picture.
  20. I actually made a thread asking if his reputations were a bug. My import didn't carry over correctly, and my Mayor Eder had turned into Night Market Eder. 21. My main concern is that the Kind Wayfarer ending is turning out the exact same in Deadfire as if you never completed her quest. It doesn't necessarily need it's own unique take on Pallegina, but at least let it differ enough from those that never bothered with her quest in POE1. Have her still be at the docks in Neketaka. Let her reason for being there having to do with Kind Wayfarer work (that she went for because it allowed her to be around her people,) instead of being a disgruntled ship guard. Let her refuse to join your party still (perhaps not wanting to get caught up with things again), until later on after the Queen, where the Vailian Trading Company is wanting to throw her another bone. She can even keep her Brotherhood class set since she originally was one, and is back to working for the Republics again. I would just like to see at least some acknowledgement for what I did in POE1. To have it lumped together with those that never finished her class quest is what's mainly gnawing at me now.
  22. That's really disappointing. In my post above this one I was speculating that maybe some of her dialog at the very least was a little different between not finishing her quest, and the Kind Wayfarer ending. But this is sounding like you could have blown her off in POE1, and still received the same version of her as those of us that used her in our party the entire time and went the Kind Wayfarer route. Definitely puts a damper on the continuity between my Watcher and her.
  23. So after finally recruiting Pallegina and speaking with her, I can see how her comments about not finishing her mission can also be used to cover the Kind Wayfarer ending. Since we disobeyed her orders from her superiors (by not doing the deal they had wanted,) it's true that we didn't finish her mission in that sense. She further comments that she knows I had meant well (which makes me think she's implying about how we tried to help the Dyrwood instead.) I can't see her saying that if we had simply not completed her mission at all. But yeah, she only brought up how she had been a guard on various ships when I asked what she had been up to, and nothing about joining the Kind Wayfarers, so there's that. Now whether there's some slight dialog change between actually not completing her mission, and what I just got, I have no idea.
  24. From what I gathered from Yenkaz, they seem to have reconned her being in the Kind Wayfarers, and lumped together getting that particular ending with the "never finishing her quest" ending. It's possible it's another import bug, but I have yet to see anyone on here comment about having the Kind Wayfarer version of her appear in game.
  25. Well that sucks. In that case I guess that means she won't join your party if you had the Kind Wayfarer ending? I know there's two variants of having her disobey. The other version being if you chose to strengthen the Dyrwood with the souls at the end. It said she was banished and then eventually pardoned in that ending, so at the very least it makes sense about her being upset about being banished but still in the brotherhood. It just seems odd to me that they would do that about the Kind Wayfarer ending. it's awful that she was banished from her brotherhood (and home I assume,) but she did what she thought was right by trying to help the people of the Dyrwood. Despite all of that, she was still able to find a home within the Kind Wayfarers, and continue to help those in need. I found that to be a noble ending for her. But to run into her now in Deadfire, and she's just this disgruntled dock guard, that's a shell of who she once was, who refuses to help the Watcher with this catastrophic event is just.. She'll still follow you, once you've met with the Queen. She just needed to vent some complicated emotions. Thank you for all of the responses, Yenkaz! You've been a big help with trying to sort all of this out.
