I rather have it that any character, NPC or PC can die and the story adapts for NPC deaths but when a PC death happens you either reload or make a new PC.

Actually read the alignment chapter and you will see that Evil alignments to have their own moral code, twisted as they might be.

You are dealing with 3rd edition rules, any alignment goes. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No. You really have no clue about 3e or 3.5e do you. There are still alignment restrictions on classes. Paladins still have to be LG. Monks still have to be Lawful in alignment. Druids and Bards have to be some sort of neutral in alignment, and Barbarians cannot be lawful. If you are going to comment on a rules system know what the hell you are talking about first.

Then don't reload. I only reload if the game forces me to reload, such as in the BG series when the main character dies. Other than that I don't reload. OH NOES MINSC IS CHUNKS! Oh well, lets continue on. People who reload becuase of one small mistake are weak. In the recent bunch of CRPGs there seems to be no real significant penalty for being stupid and letting your characters die. In KotOR 1 and 2 as long as 1 character is still up the other two can be at 1 hit point for the entire game and it wouldn't matter. In NWN you can just respawn and OH NOES a minor experience hit. Like that is a real penalty for being stupid. I am getting sick and tired by developers thinking that I am an idiot and making idiot proofed games.

Anyone who thinks that you can't have a good story with permadeath is an idiot. Seriously. You can have a good story with permadeath. As I recall Fallout 1, Fallout 2, Ultima 4, BG 1, BG2, and a host of other CRPGs had good stories to them and had permadeath. Only brainless noobs that want their hands held cry like a lil' child against permadeath.

I would buy the hard cover that has BoEM 1, 2, and 3 in one book. You can get it off Amazon.com cheaply enough.
