Oh. I heard that demo was very buggy too. The demo's fine. Not seen any bugs with it. Maybe you're thinking of the HD collection, which has some slowdown problems.

It's out? Really?? edit; Where did you get it? ;_; I've had it for over two months. It came with Zone of the Enders HD. Though rumor has it the one dropping today has more content.

I think I'm addicted to the Metal Gear Rising demo.

I hit Artorias in Dark Souls. And died a few times. I think I could do it, but I'm dying simply because of not having the timing perfect on a roll. So I'm not very compelled to keep at it. Taking a break for Borderlands 2.

Chris Avellone Plays Arcanum
Tale replied to Adam Brennecke's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
I think we'd get better analysis in writing than over youtube. So I'm siding with a blog.- 112 replies

I didn't care for the demo of MGRR the first time I tried it. But I seem to have gotten a much better knack for it today. I'm looking forward to this really badly, now. Monsoon looks like a bit of a beast to fight.

While it seems counter-intuitive, a way to enjoy the combat system a lot more is to avoid optimizing damage. In the original titles that was what the style meter encouraged, but now it's completely tied to damage :/ Also color-coded enemies kind of ruin that, but that should be mitigated by the additional demon/angel weapons in the final game. I don't think that's the problem I'm having with combat or with the game overall. Combat, I didn't hit my stride with in the demo. I kept pulling out the wrong weapon/shifting into the wrong stance. I think that's something I might be able to get over with more practice, if I felt compelled. It's something that may be paced out better in the game too, starting with only rebellion, then getting one demon/angel weapon, then getting the other. But I think it was more an issue for me that I only had like 3 fights in the non-boss level. And then just running around looking for platforms. There was no challenge, either, not even in those challenge rooms. I'm playing on Nephilim and essentially fumbling at the controls, and the only dying I did was to the boss when I didn't figure out it wanted me to hookshot to another platform to avoid the barf. I think that's what impressed me least about it. That the dialogue was a trade of juvenile insults and swearing while fighting a barf monster.

Some more Dark Souls. Then I tried the DmC demo. Was not impressed. The dialogue in the boss fight is actually worse than I'd expected, in that it's precisely what I'd heard and it was not exaggerated in the telling.

That doesn't sound a bit heavy handed to you? Perhaps a bit pandering. I like a game to have a message as much as the next guy, but targeting Fox News as evil seems like low hanging fruit. Akin to jokes about airline peanuts at this point.

Had to resort to co-op to defeat four kings.

Magic weapons are underpowered in Dark Souls. My Enchanted Balder Side Sword is more powerful than half my soul spears. It's doing pretty well. The sword you're talking about requires a higher strength stat than I have an interest in investing in.

Neither is the main character, so who precisely are we supposed to relate to? Oh okay

More Dark Souls. I think I'm getting addicted. So I've made it through Anor Londo. And I'm looking for a place to farm blue titanite to upgrade my sword. Dark Souls 2 is on my definite pre-order list at this point.

If there was a little more humility from the guy, I think I'd be more positive. But he talks about the game as if it's going to be the best story in gaming. Meanwhile it's dredging up more "be a complete **** to look cool" scenes that people thought were stupid when they heard about it from Enslaved. Spoiler warning before the spoiler. You probably shouldn't read this under any circumstance. I don't think I'm being oversensitive in being dumbfounded here.

For that fight, you can use an NPC co-op buddy. That's actually what I did for it. Praise the sun!
-
It's incredibly easy in co-op. So far, most of the fights are, except Capra Demon. Playing the same. Finally joined Sunlight Covenant and am trying to farm for a Balder Side Sword, but I'm more just farming titanite and souls for sorceries.

Dark Souls. In the Depths and I seem to have gotten turned around.

Beat the Belfry Gargoyles on my first try. Had some help from an NPC phantom. Give me someone to distract the enemy and Heavy Soul Spear will destroy anyone.

The melee Assassin fails to shine until like level 31, sadly. But I guess that's a flaw of building a character that isn't benefited by the core game mechanic of loot. The best melee gun is the Law pistol and you will not replace that until you get a higher level Law in NG+.
-
I thought I'd try out the Siren in Borderlands 2. Low level is not all that different from when I played my Assassin. I guess that's a criticism I can level at it, the classes are very samey until level 10 or 15. I thought I'd do a Siren run for my DLC playthrough since melee was getting tired, but I'm not in the mood to run through everything again just yet. So I went back to Dark Souls. Backtracking a bit to get Heavy Soul Arrow was the best decision I made. Oh look, it's a Tower Knight. A giant scary looking guy I was not expecting. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
-
I just hope it has a dance battle minigame.
-
Dark Souls. Getting further along than I did when I played it on PS3, but I see myself getting distracted again. Probably by adventure games.

The only right way to do Monty Python is to leave it to Monty Python. There's something almost criminal about taking humor that was known for being unexpected and and making it commonplace.
