  1. a question guys, I have heard that if I go alone I would have more experience from the quests, is that correct? if so, will that change if I use tavern companions?
  2. I think that I got confused with vulnerable attack but I don't remember well, I'm currently at work so I will check when I arrive my place. the next time I start a PoE adventure I'll use a fighter
  3. you're right, I got confused and I added it thinking that it would be great for my offense, but now that I realize. it was a bad idea, I will remove it from the paladin and from Zahua which already have it. thank you! Instead I'll put scion of flame
  4. Are you sure about the cautious attack? I thought that it would be a good idea because of the increase of critical rate, 2 weapon style should just suppress the 20% slowness.. but I don't know. perhaps having a higher reflex level would help with the attack and recovery rate?
  5. I was thinking on a one handed spear Ritezzi's Thorn but I don't know, I mistakenly soulbounded the The Grey Sleeper to my watcher so I must use it... It has a great DR penetration... I gave the blade of the endless path to pallegina so she uses it when I need her to be aggressive along with firebrand, she uses shame of glory and exceptional large shield for defending and supporting others... Eder has a sabre with fireball which helps a lot when a high amount of enemies, I also watcher has belt of deadfire cannoneer for the fire attach and also sacred immolation which deals 23 damage per second... I don't know if that's good?
  6. Would that unarmed paladin be as high damage as a monk? I mean, Zahua deals high max 35 with a super high attack rate. So, would you recommend to use firebrand for the flames of devotion and then my hatchet and dagger for killing other monsters and kith? I got heart of harvest for +5 deflection, I improved it to superb +12 accuracy and it has 3DR penetration. I have cautious attack + savage attack + dual weapon style, I wanted to get weapon focus: peasant for more accuracy and eliminate the dawn on spring dagger to get the accuracy bonus on other hatchet or better a spear such as Ritezzi's Thorn... I don't know because swords are not really good, I used to have silver crow battle axe which wasn't that slow but not that good, I was thinking about a war hammer but never been my style.
  7. I was thinking on the captain viccilo's hatchet + heart of harvest, I am level 13 on the second act, currently completing the quests of white march one, I haven't completed any of the main quests of act 2 so I think that I can still get a lot from the game... with the dawn in spring dagger I get a stupidly high accuracy bonus even being on savage attack mode. what are the best abilities/talents for a build with the paladin?
  8. Hello guys, trying to decide (again) on how to develop a paladin... I only like paladins and fighters, the other classes I don't like 'em for the watcher. I want something such as dual hatchet paladin with lots of attack rate and high damage rate. I have hearth of harvest and dawn in spring dagger right now, I was thinking on hatchets because have fast attack rate and also, have +5 deflection bonus. what other axe could I use? I was also thinking on what abilities should I use? armor, everything. what stats should I use? I have a human because of the strength and resolve bonus, have an explorer just for the +1 survival and Lore bonus, bleak walker for the "remember Rakhan field, what abilities could I get including quest abilities. I like to heal myself and companions a lot and also, want to have good defense, not great but good. some help on this?
  9. Its almost impossible to dominate or charm Thaos, the only way that I am able to kill that magic is by using lay of hands on myself, it cures me 125.67 *4 seconds, that's the only way that I'm able to survive but it is stupid having to use one of my precious lay of hands on that. characters such as Aloth, even with the burwalk against elements dies instantly.
  10. Hello guys, The only spell that I have never been able to resist is the cleansing flames, do anyone knows how to be able to survive that?
  11. Hi guys, I was thinking on becoming Aloth into a good damage dealer with his spells and with weapons. any suggestions?
  12. try a paladin, I would say because of the defenses bonuses and also, because of the self healing abilities, for example: allround paladin killer: try dual dawn in spring for lingering damage and fast blows, lower interrupt rate but with a higher perception level can be balanced. try sworn enemy, deprive unworthy, lay on hands, remember rakhan field, intense flames, savage attack, veteran recovery, dual weapon style... you can also use a battleaxe + this dagger, I use the edge of reason because of the recovery rate. you will never die but always kill...
  13. The damage reduction is not the only thing that affects the damage inflicted... remember that the accuracy of the character is very crucial for the damage calculation. higher accuracy means higher damage rate limited by the max damage that the character sheet shows... for example, a character with at least 70 points of accuracy vs deflection + reflex level is the total of damage dealt to the opponent.
  14. I think that you should use the dagger not only for the speed but also for the superb + 12 accuracy bonus. I use this dagger dual wielding edge of reason + drawn in spring which grants me a high speed attack rate and good damage rate also with both weapons. I'm currently using a paladin.
  15. I'm currently level 9 because I've finished up some quests in defiance bay, I came to this place yesterday and I was able to kill some folks in this place but they killed me because there was a large party more in the north of the map. I just wanted to play a map that could give me some challenge and that's exactly what I've found. I had to put sword and shield combo to Pallegina because we was so useless, its absurd how the automatic companion leveling system works. I would like to get grieving mother but I haven't arrived Dryford Village yet. I'm panning to sacrifice Sagani (because I hate her) to the blood pool, I was also thinking on Kana because is annoying but he's actually pretty useful, I want only Hiravias on my party because he have a lot of damage dealer spells but he's weak because is an orlan. Anyway, I have my main paladin which is a super damage dealer now + my 2 tanky hitters with high accuracy and defenses + Aloth, which I don't really know how to make him to hit harder. durance and kana rua are in my party too beacuse of the buffs and summoning spells.
  16. Boeroer, I've did what you suggested before, I now have a better paladin using the cannoneer belt soulbinded to the max level, It is extremely useful because it brings not only the firebrand but also the fire shield and the buff to int, might and constitution. I just need something to avoid being in just 10 resolution, perhaps an item with +3 resolution. My character rarely miss a hit but there are situations for example when I fight with the fighter which is in the first keep in white march expansion, that one has a really brutal deflection level because I only hit some grazes... I honestly don't know what to do against her. her companion is easy to knock out, I just let Kana fight him.
  17. Hello again Guys, I finally got the stats that I'm currently using on this character. here they are: attributes: might- 18 constitution - 10 dexterity - 12 perception - 15 intelligence - 13 resolution - 10 skills: stealth - 0 athletics - 10 lore - 5 mechanics - 0 survival - 1 abilities: sworn enemy faith and conviction flames of devotion lay on hands liberating exhortation talents: veteran's recovery deep faith weapon focus: soldier two hand style I will include the items that you mentioned before.
  18. I see where you're going now. It is pretty useful while playing on higher difficulties, For example, I'm playing hard with almost the stats that dgray62 suggested me and my paladin is very hard to knock out now even if I just have a fine mail armor specially because I am using a combination between damage dealing and Paladin's defensive abilities such as faith and conviction modified by deep faith, I saw them pretty useful while using a two hander because of the lack of deflection. This character does not do the max damage nor have the world's best defense but he accomplish the work, is very hard to knock down, dominated only lasts 6 seconds on him, paralyzed lasts less than what I was expecting for a character with low constitution. What do you think I have to do? keep going with a balanced defense or retrain the character to become a bloody killer? I mean, It is obvious that I will need to turn Eder into a better tank than what he actually is but, wouldn't my character be so easy to knock down?
  19. I was thinking on killing everybody in Pillars of eternity world, is that possible? I mean, desertic villages and cities, could someone imagine that in defiance bay while you're in path of the damned. After completing all the quests and your character being a extremely high damage deler party, Wouldn't that be amazing and also challenging? Imagine only leaving one merchant alive, and kill everybody in all the cities except that one, then loot everything out there and sell it to that merchant then kill the merchant and his city. Will your party turn against you after all this slaughtering crusade? sorry for my bad english, I hope y'all to be able to understand what I've just wrote.
  20. Thank you so much for your reply, Boerer, Doesn't the cannoneer belt and the forgemaster belt grants the same ability? I think that having the belt soulbinded up to the last level grants a lot of useful points + the spell that if I combine with a higher intelligence level, it should actually give a larger amount of duration time for the spell. I was thinking on combining with gloves that could give me a different ability such as the Siegebreaker Gauntlets that could grant me 4 points of resolution to have a better will defense against dominated and such afflictions because, if I spend my class ability build giving this character great attack skills and less than good defense, I think that it will be useless. unfortunatelly, I'm always at work when I reply so I cannot verify how are my skillpoints and abilities assigned to the character to give you all a better overview of how I'm leveling this character. I will post something when I get back to my house. Regards!
  21. Thank you so much for your reply, so, would you not recomend me to use a two handed sword? Would it be better for me to use a paladin that has only a sabre for good accuracy? I was thinking on a two handed sword for high two type of damage + the recovery that grants the tidefall and also the accuracy bonus of having more perception... Im trying to base this character in high accuracy and defense, I think that lowering the resolution and increasing the INT will grant me the same will defense(which I like) + the duration + area of effect. Please tell me what do you think of my perception level? Is it necessary?
  22. Hello Guys, I'm a new player of Pillars of eternity, I've just joined the forum and I've already completed the game once with not too much success. I mean, I didn't collected all the good in game items, weapons, I didn't completed trials of Durance quest, etc. I just want to know what is a good build for someone that would like to go with a Paladin using two handed swords such as the Tidefall, I've read somewhere that I could use the Ryonna's Breastplate as a good armor so I've purchased the expansions just to get it. I've created a new Character with these stats: Bleak Walker might - 18 Constitution - 13 Dexterity - 10 + 2 for fulvano gloves Perception - 15 + 3 for resting bonus Intelligence - 7 Resolve - 15 I don't care that much about the auras, I just want my paladin to be a warrior hard to be knocked down, very accurate and damage dealer, I use the deep faith, veteran's recovery, weapon focus: soldier, two handed style, lay on hands, flames of devotion, liberating exhortation and sworn enemy, It is level 8 I think. Paladin has 10 athletics for second chance and 5 Lore + 1 in survival for being an explorer. The only notable item that this character has is the Tidefall and for armor I'm currently using a fine mail armor. I'm just starting the game again so anything that you could tell me would be appreciated. P.D. sorry for my English, I'm not a very good englis speaker/writer.
