  1. That's assuming they will remove said things (as opposed to update), and assuming they will not replace them by equally good things. That's a lot of assumptions, and to me, it's blindly jumping in the hatewagon. Don't let that stop you from hating away at your leisure, though. Because it's the cool thing to do. That's assuming that I said that they will remove them and assuming that I said that they will not replacing them with something better, which I didn't. You are now changing the argument, because my argument was about the definition of "ruining the series" rather than that the fallout series will be ruined. I said, assuming that someone believes that the series is ruined would that imply that Fo1 and 2 will suck. I never said anything about what Fo3 will be like. That's your assumption. Still it seems (from Krezack's post) that I was wrong, so I will pass.
  2. Ok, ruining a series means that they remove the things that made a series awesome/nice/fun/interesting from the next sequel. That way the series lose what made it nice, thus it's ruined. EDIT: I don't really think there are many (if any) people that believe that Fo1 and 2 will be ruined by Fo3 and I fail to see, why that's the argument everybody uses against those who say that beth is "ruining the series". Do you really believe that anyone who says that thinks that the previous games will be ruined?
  3. Eh, no. I really don't see how the quality of a sequel affects its predecessors. Will a poor Fallout 3 make Fallout 2 and 1 suck? What's this sense of holiness around everything Fallout that makes attempting a sequel something so neccesarily formulaic? LOLOLOgic. ... Who said that Fo1 or Fo2 will suck? Nobody, it's just you using strawman to raise an argument. People were expecting something else and they are disappointed by what they saw. Is that strange? Or hard to understand? You expect your parents to give you that awesome medieval tower for your 8th birthday and you get socks. Does that mean that the previous gifts they gave you suck? No. Does that mean that you are happy with socks? No. It's not that hard to understand, isn't it?
  4. Mailbag Showdown hahaha, fanboism ftw That was hilarious.
  5. I'm starting MotB again, though the process is slow since I'm getting really tired these days. I plan on getting the most evil of endings though for some bizarre reason I made my character chaotic good. I just hope it won't have much of an impact ingame - recreating a character is boring.
  6. I finally (some weeks ago actually) found the time and mood to finish "Tales from Earthsea". The first story I considered the weakest mostly because the story and writing felt disjointed. All the other stories, though, were great. I think Le Guin's short stories (30-40 pages long) are more focused and really capture the atmosphere of Earthsea. I actually got interested in reading "The Other Wind". Now I'm starting "Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell". It's a pseudo-historic fantasy novel taking place in the 19th century England. Seems fun up until now.
  7. 'm 20 and a couple of months before the half.
  8. What I find interesting is that a lot of people say that they loved BG1 and not BG2. I'm not going to argue on this, though it seems that most people that say so have played the original title first. I, on the other hand, had my first Bioware experience with BG2. I loved that game. It had a far better story than anything I had played at that time (I was fairly young back then) and the whole way the game was played was totally captivating. As I see it now, it's not a jewel of gaming; it doesn't do anything exceptional but still it does everything right and that's why I enjoy it still. BG1 I played years later (when I found some sort of special edition with it). It was still fun but I had to force myself through a lot of occasions mostly because of the game design. I think I agree with the general notion here. It's not that Bioware's games are bad, they are fairly good titles (with the exception of NWN1 - that was atrocious, almost unplayable) but still they always seem overrated as games. They are not jewels of gaming and I think that's mostly because they lack originality. Also differentiating "artistic value" from fun is a rather arbitrary act. Fun can be "manifested" in a lot of ways. Can games be sheer "artistic" objects? Probably not, they need mechanics for the player to use (for example) but so do movies need good direction, books need a writer that knows how to write and so on.
  9. The whole thing is definitely not an April Fool's joke. That guy did some presentation some time ago (or something). Here's the link. It's a nice read, I think.
  10. But they are labels with set, absolute definitions, something that "good" nor "evil" has. I cannot define "good," as "good" is an ever shifting idea. What is "good" for myself may not be "good" for you, and thus I could only give a personal definition -something that is useless when determining the inherent morality of an action. There is no actual mental difficulty in defining "good" and "evil". And if people decide they want to do so, then in 30 years, you could be able to open the "Goodness Handbook" that kids would have at school and see what is "good" or "evil" as one can find out what is a "function" or a "group" in an algebra handbook today. A lot of ideas change and a lot of concepts change, but still people try to understand what is harmful to them and what is not. And nobody is arguing about the only choices being good and evil and there is nothing in-between nor that people are good or evil and none is somewhere in between. Or that each and every of today's concepts about "good" and "evil" are totally correct. But to say that good and evil are not definable because you can question that in your mind is as wrong as anything can be. EDIT: I hate forgetting to press the add reply button and then find put that what I said was already posted
  11. link I think it is somewhat fitting (at least partially) with the conversation. I don't post in as an attempt to say something, or argue over anything. I just remembered it because of the whole conversation, and though about posting it. Sharing is good.
  12. Though if it's your own creations (the people) you could have made them so that this would be what they understood as good or evil. The point being that if we accept the fact that god created us so that we can perceive various acts as good or evil it is arbitrary to believe that we could be able to change that.
  13. So how is free will defined? The way I see it, makes me think that determinism is not the complement of free will.
  14. Rest in... *rolls d20* ...piece.
  15. To the left of the "reply" button which is located on the right corner of each post, there is a "quote" button. If you press it it becomes red. Do that for all the posts you want to quote and then press "add reply" (which is at the bottom of the thread page).
  16. off topic: I just reread the threads title and I 've got to ask: Why is he (Chris Avellone) called MCA? P.S.: Sorry for that.
  17. I tried the demo and I really liked it (especially when I put a song of my choosing). Is it worth it? Is it fun or does it get boring fast? Anyway, for some strange reason, I, lately, started installing old games and play them. I am playing Diablo 2, single player. I don't think it gets worse than that...
  18. The map? No, it was "Badlands". Edit: It was a new tf2 (and steam) update. Changed various stuff in the game as well...
  19. I tried out the new map in TF2. Looks great, probably the best capture points map, yet.
  20. Haha, the main character looks very much like Shinji (both in appearance and behaviour -at least up to a point) which at the first episodes made me start relating hack characters with NGE characters. I would say even more (concerning NGE comparisons) but since you have plans to watch it I shall refrain myself from spoiling it for you.
  21. Sim City Societies Edit: Missed Pop's post
  22. Today I finished ".hack//SLASH". I somewhat lost interest somewhere around ep15 but continued to watch. Nothing special in the end. Turned out boring and uninspired.
  23. I started playing on Sunday, and just a while ago I got to the last level, which is a total bitch. I officially quit at the last level. This game is evil.
  24. haha, I am so bored right now I can play (even this) forever. I'm in, like, level 20 or something. It's supposed to save one's progress or something, so one can start from when he left it. A good advice is to turn off the music. It's annoying. :D
