  5. Happy Festivus to all, hope you have a great time and a great New Year!
  6. Merry Christmas everybody, to me its that one time of the year, when people find it just that bit easier to smile at a stranger, be a little more courteous and a little more hopeful for the coming year, I hope everybody here experiences a little bit of each of those in the coming days
  7. Bright http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5519340/ Decent enough movie if you can buy into the Lord of the Rings/Training Day premise. There's alot going on in the movie, they try to fit 2000 years of lore into a 2 hour movie, so if you like LOTR and Warcraft, you will "get it" more than somebody coming in cold. I liked it alot, mainly due to its mix of genres, not an easy thing to pull off. https://youtu.be/6EZCBSsBxko
  8. That's incredibly kind of you, thanks! It is pretty awesome though, only "dignitaries" get in to see the actual event, the tombs size from the outside is not indicative of how small the passage is on the inside.
  9. Newgrange is an Irish stone age Passage Tomb, Archaeologists classified Newgrange as a passage tomb, however Newgrange is now recognised to be much more than a passage tomb. Ancient Temple is a more fitting classification, a place of astrological, spiritual, religious and ceremonial importance, much as present day cathedrals are places of prestige and worship where dignitaries may be laid to rest. http://www.newgrange.com Winter Solstice Newgrange Winter SolsticeNewgrange is best known for the illumination of its passage and chamber by the winter solstice sun. Above the entrance to the passage at Newgrange there is a opening called a roof-box. This baffling orifice held a great surprise for those who unearthed it. Its purpose is to allow sunlight to penetrate the chamber on the shortest days of the year, around December 21st, the winter solstice. At dawn, from December 19th to 23rd, a narrow beam of light penetrates the roof-box and reaches the floor of the chamber, gradually extending to the rear of the chamber. As the sun rises higher, the beam widens within the chamber so that the whole room becomes dramatically illuminated. This event lasts for 17 minutes, beginning around 9am. The accuracy of Newgrange as a time-telling device is remarkable when one considers that it was built 500 years before the Great Pyramids and more than 1,000 years before Stonehenge.
  10. Never heard of Focus but that was freaking awesome!
  11. Just in case you were wondering why, my guess is that the old thread is on page 2 or 3 and you have to expand your filters (top of page) to see the old threads. Yes that makes sense, cheers!
  12. The Foreigner http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1 615160/ https://youtu.be/33iuQu3UtjI Jackie Chan's daughter is killed by an IRA splinter group bomb. Aging Jackie wants names, so he starts kicking IRA ass until he gets some, preying on duplicitous EX IRA , now politician Pierce Brosnan. As the story unfolds, it turns out Jackie is ex special forces who served in 'Nam . Bloody good movie as Jackie schools the terrorists on urban and rural terrorism. Another good movie , in a similar vein is '71, about a British soldier stranded behind enemy lines one night in Belfast as he tries to get back to his barracks, taking no sides, the movie takes a kind of Ulyssesian type of odyssey as he encounters many factions on his journey. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2614684/?ref_=nv_sr_1 https://youtu.be/J-BaKfl1Ms4
  13. rockford files theme would make our top 5. along with rockford we would add mash and barney miller, though mash were a movie before tv, so might be a cheat to include. so to complete top 5, in no particular order... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIK9yffjRK8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5HNWhVXcjV8 oh, and henry mancini deserves special recognition, though the linked pink panther is a blurred line inclusion as were original a movie theme... and peter gunn were before even Gromnir's time. HA! Good Fun! ps edited out rockford theme to reduce clutter. Re MASH, good point, I guess if it was a TV show it counts Some great themes there, but I wouldn't have seen them until I was much older , we only had 2 TV channels here, one for Northern (UTV) and one for Southern Ireland (RTE), Hence my more localised choices as there wasn't much of a budget for imported TV shows, Probably Hawaii 50 would be one of my earliest imported TV show memories
  14. 1 That links to a thread in Way off Topic, but it doesn't show up in WOT as it displays for me. 2 Its called My Thread, how would I extrapolate TV themes from that it it did show in my display? 3 What's your favourite TV theme from your childhood?
  15. The Sweeney UK gritty cop show Harry's Game, UK show, undercover army, under cover in Belfast hunting an assassin
  16. Get Smart US spy spoof UFO UK alien invasion show.
  17. The Professionals, a UK cop/secret intelligence show based on buddies Bode and Doyle, ex SAS / Cop respectively The Avengers, UK spy drama.
  18. Mars http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4939064/ Told across 6 episodes with Episode 7 a Making of kind of documentary. Two elements of the story are told together, 2033 is the current mission, where they land on Mars. 2016 is a series of documentaries, these 2016 parts are interspersed periodically throughout 2033 events, sometimes to the detriment of the story or in the midst of something dramatic unfolding. On episode 4, thankfully there's only 2 more episodes to go, I don't like the cast but the documentary is good, so at best I just find it interesting.
  19. Yeah, I thought it was good fun, great characters, nobody gets out alive with mucho goro. Real piss take on Greek letter houses, ruled by a complete bitch, Vs normal girl with a slasher running loose on campus.
  20. Only managed a few episodes of iZombie, but got distracted by Scream Queens and never went back, I'll give it another shot, cheers.
  21. I really liked Bosch, the main character is an actor I usually disliked in anything else I have seen him in, but Bosch is good. Currently watching The Blacklist, took me about 10 episodes to get into it, but then it takes quite a dark turn, really liking it now.
