  1. So because I'm not a huge fan of internet multiplayer, not only will I pay for large component I won't use, my single player experience will be lesser as well (not getting those extra areas that you can unlock). That just irks me. I most likely will be getting ME3 regardless, just to see the story finished, but this type of thinking certainly isn't for me.
  2. Then I'll say I want you to go to werewolf island. You can't be ready for BG2 before you've given some greater werewolves the boot.
  3. You can get through the cutscenes fairly quickly though. Just space bar through them. Content patch was added today, so they are working on building on the game. We will for sure play another month, but I still don't know if I'll like the mmo endgame. So beyond that we will see.
  4. You're not doing werewolf island? How about the end fight of TotSC, the one in the village after Durlag's tower? If you can do that one, the werewolves should be a breeze? Considering how underlevelled the party is at the moment (just getting level 4 spells, something you usually have before finishing Baldur's Gate proper, and certainly a long time before doing Durlag's Tower) there should still be a good **** of XP out there to be had.
  5. If you think your example of wild goose chase is bad, this is what I had to do yesterday when running through my class quest. Finishing hoth, I then had to go to Quesh (a planet I've already been to) to the far north of the map. Then to Dromund Kaas, then to a space station, then back to Dromund Kaas. And of course the Dromund Kaas locations arepretty far from the space port, not to mention the fact that any space travel is a bit of a chore with all the corridors you have to run through just to get to your ship. (also since I'm playing with my wife, we had another trip to Dromund Kaas and another one to Quesh, but in the wrong order, so we didn't know she had to go to quesh when I was there)
  6. My main is a operative and I like that class a lot. I've played it both healing and dps speced and I think both are a lot of fun. You have to like resource management though, because the operative has a lot of that (much more than other classes). Apparently the dps operative is a house in pvp (wouldn't know, don't play pvp) while the healer seems to be the weakest healing class. It's still fine in PvE, but suffers a bit in PvP. From what I've read, no first hand experience (other than it heals fine in PvE, at least during levelling, can't say anything about endgame). Also, the Imperial Agent got a cool story and the best male voice actor. And I like the first companion you get. I've also tried a Sith Assassin tank, and while it's fun to play, it has nothing on the Operative. It is a bit fun to be tanking in light armor though (but the first companion you get is such a bore).
  7. Can't a mod with good taste (Gorth, I'm looking at you) split all the x-com posts into a thread of their own? I know it's a little work, but that game really needs it's own thread, it's currently dominating this one.
  8. Still not getting it. Only armoring mods change the armor value, and they will be identical between two orange pieces of the same type, ie two chest armors. Afaik there are no hidden stats when it comes to mods, they all do what they say they do.
  9. I'm not sure what you mean here. All mods do what they do regardless of what gear you put them in, do they not? A mod that gives +14 endurance will do just that in all gear it gets added to?
  10. Only truly negative thing so far. Might have to check the link to see if there is any info on LOS and Fog of War effects, whether it will have all the awesome autonomous factions of X-Com 3 etc. I actually like this. Never did get ammo concerns in a setting where you really should have enough. Sure, for a few powerful weapons it could be a bit stupid (ie rocket launchers), but on a general scale I think it's a good move. I think this game sounds very promising.
  11. From what I gather, the end game consists of doing daily missions on Ilum, Flashpoints (all Flashpoints have a hard mode that is unlocked at lvl 50) and a couple of raid instances. And the world bosses of course. And to affection again, if all affection gives you is a time discount on crew missions, a discount that at 4500 affection isn't that impressive, then it's not a big deal for me. Having access to more companions is much more important to crafting anyway.
  12. So speaking of companions, does anyonw know what affection really does, apart from give you additional quests? I personally don't find it hard focusing one getting the affection of a single companion to rise through dialogue though. I know what makes Kaliyo tick, and she is the only useful companion I have atm anyway. It could possibly change when I get another tank, but that's a bit into the future.
  13. Yeah, we got a tone of those. But all they do is let you buy better gear from the social vendor. So far I'm not impressed. I'd rather have companion quests, but alas. BTW, what is the level requirement for Hoth? We just completed ordinary Taris and ran into the bonus series, which is level 35. We're 37 and 38 so if we're going to do them, it might as well be now. But I guess we'll be way overleveled for Hoth then?
  14. The game is certainly fun, even for a non-mmo fan like me. The class stories are about average bioware quality (some better, some worse) and entertaining enough to keep you playing along. The quests are decent, but there are also the standard "kill x mobs" that is so common in MMOs. I find the group quests (Heroics and Flashpoints) to be the most fun, and while I've gotten to do all heroics so far (apart from the Nar Shadaa bonus series, since we're skipping that one), I unfortunately haven't done many flashpoints. My wife doesn't like them as much, so we tend to skip them, since we're overleveld as is. We might do one or two more in the future, if the leveling catches up on us. You can find yourself short on cash from time to time, especially if you do a lot of crafting. Like for me right now where I need to accumulate something like 280000 credits in little over two levels to be able to afford all skill upgrades and a new speeder at level 40. But if I stop doing crew missions, I think that will work out. My Cybertech skill is way higher than I can use currently anyway (I can do level 41 gear, but I am only level 37, soon to be 38). I like the space missions, but I wish there were more different ones, not just upgrades of the same one. I'm not sure how many different there are total, but I think I've seen four, possibly five. So they get a bit repetetive. But I tend to do each one once since they're fun if simplistic. I have concerns about high level play. I've never played that far in a mmo before so we'll see if it's worth renewing the subscription after the storyline is done. We'll see. I'm also concerned that crafting is apparently obsolete once you start donning level 50 gear. That would be very tragic if it were the case. Because I like crafting and I like the orange gear. Another thing, since I'm almost exclusively playing with my wife, I think we're at a bit of a disadvantage when it comes to companion quests. I've just recently gotten my first one for Kaliyo, a level 21 quest when I'm at 37. Doesn't quite seem right. I guess it's because I only get to pick half of the dialogue options, so I miss out on a lot of affection gain. Maybe not half, because there is a lot in the class specific quests, but at least a third. I do send out for companion gifts through Underworld Trading from time to time, but I usually need the metals more (did I mention I like crafting?).
  15. Your experiences != everyones experiences. For reference: http://www.shacknews.com/file/383/baldurs-...7-english-patch The companion stutter bug for instance was kinda severe (and I believe I've had it on other companions than Aerie). I only had one major bug in Skyrim, which I could fix myself, so I had about the same experience with it that I did BG. edit: Which doesn't mean there weren't more, especially the PS3 bug sounds messed up.
  16. BGII was nowhere near bug free on release.
  17. I got the Nar Shaddaa bonus series when we were there. Just wasn't high enough level to attempt it at the time. And when we were, we were overlveled enough for the ordinary missions that we decided to skip it.
  18. I'm about to go to taris and I am level 35. To a planet that is 32-36 I think. So still a bit ahead. Only done two flashpoints, but all heroics. We even skipped Nar Shaddaa bonus series so we wouldn't run further ahead.
  19. The new x-com has currently climbed up to the top of my list of most anticipated games. Firaxis know their stuff, and they've got a pretty good track record of remaking classics (true the other classics they've remade has been sid meier games, but still).
  20. Yeah, we're getting this too. Since we're doing all quests (including heroics), we got overleveled fast. Overleveled but undergeared. It does balance out a bit, since you get less xp (and need more to level up). But yeah, do everything and everything will be fairly easy. Apart from the heroic "Insufficient Staff" on Alderaan. That one was tough as hell for our two man team (plus companions). Since our characters are dps and healer, we had to rely on companion tanking, and in that quest that just wasn't enough. Full group or more experienced players might have done the trick, but for us there was no way. So we did what any true imperial would, returned with superior forces (in this case, a level 50 sith assassin). Didn't pose much of a challenge then, but sometimes it can be fun to take a short cut or two.
  21. I am, and I am certainly not a fan of the genre. This game is pretty good though. For the most part anyway. The story is a lot worse than a single player rpg, but well enough executed that it works. it's certainly a bioware game. Part of my enjoyment is playing alongside my wife, that adds a lot for me. We're currently at lvl 30 and almost done with Tattooine.
  22. If performance is that bad on the PS3, then it's certainly bad and inexcusable. I can only go by with what I experienced, and then it wasn't that bad. I had one major bug that was annoying (some voice files not firing, actually preventing me from continuing the main quest), but I found a way to manually repair that. So yeah, Skyrim has bugs. For me it wasn't bad enough to lessen my enjoyment of the game, so I don't think it's worse than anything else. Like Morgoth said, if we want bug free games, all we'll get are linear corridor shooters and I am fine with a title being a little buggy if it tries to expand that scope. There is a point when it becomes too much, but Skyrim wasn't it, not for me.
  23. People who want Bethesda games want them to have as large a scope as possible. They are willing to take minor bugs, because otherwise the game probably would never exist. Because of the size of Skyrim testing must have been a nightmare. WUE says bethesda doesn't have a money problem because they shipped 10 million copies. I say they don't have a bug problem for the exact same reason. besides, the game didn't feel that buggy to me.
  24. Mechanical keys basically. Byt there are several others that offers the same so there are definitely options. As for gaming, that would depend on what switches are being used. I'm not sure which color does what, but I'm pretty sure the clicking ones aren't all that when it comes to gaming, but still functional. They're more for people who types for a living though. (I have no personal experience with mechanical switches, just going by what I've read. But I have read a fair amount though)
  25. They've gotten much, much better. When we started on the 20th, we would have to que for 45 minutes, now we rarely que at all.
