I think the biggest issue is the lack of a proper tutorial. Many who have had trouble with the system might feel different about it if it had been explained properly. The suggestion above to add an optional auto-resolve function is interesting. I probably wouldn’t use it (now that I have a big ship loaded with heavy guns and expert crew), but it would give people who hate the system a way to enjoy their play more. After all, there’s a story mode for those who don’t like how tactical land combat works, or find it boring. So - a few tweaks, maybe some AI improvement and less spamming Continue - and I think more will be happy. I was thrilled once I figured out close-turn-hold-fire-jibe-hold-fire, but it does get repetitive. Overall, I think it’s good, and I am not a fan of minigames, generally.

Do you mean the level where you enter from the street? She’s not in any of those rooms. There are dead naga everywhere; the only live Huana, as far as I recall, are Ekenu and Tekehu. I’m not at my computer so I can’t check directly right now, but if I’m remembering wrong I’ll post about it. Forgive me if I’ve misunderstood.

Not sure if this is connected, but: I’ve seen the same effect multiple times - not with Charmed-when-slain enemies, but Shifted-when-slain Druid enemies. They die, they switch back to their human form, and they’re standing-up corpses. If I see it again (or the Charmed thing) I’ll come back and post a screenshot.

TL;DR Ignore this whole thread - nothing’s bugged; I just missed a room exit and spent a lot of time chasing my tail trying to figure out what was wrong. ========== I got to the “choose your faction” section of the critical path, right before you head to the special island. I chose to go with the Huana, and Queen Onekaza gave me the quest “The Shadow Under Neketaka” - go talk to Watershaper Guildmaster Mairu to see why she’s not responding to messages. For various reasons, I had never yet entered the Watershaper’s Guild (wasn’t too interested in using Tekehu this time around). When I got there, the naga attack had happened, and Ekenu and Tekehu were there, but Mairu wasn’t. They told me Mairu was under the guildhall, fighting off the last of the nagas, and suggested I go down below to help her out. When I went down, I wasn’t able to do anything with the magically locked entrance to the under-guildhall area. I could push it, punch it, and inspect it, but nothing else. I did a bunch of things to figure out what was going wrong, including loading a save from before the faction choice, talking to Mairu / picking up Tekehu, and doing everything over, but nothing worked. I started googling for help and found that Mairu is supposed to be on the main level of the Guildhall when you get there, wounded, and she teaches you an incantation and gives you a quest item Rod to unlock the door below. I even went looking in the game’s data files for a quest ID to see if I could console in some help, but using the DebugAdvanceQuest command didn’t help - there was no way I could see to set the decisions made during the quest. When I did that to close the quest and went back to Onekaza, she treated me as though we weren’t in the endgame. I’m fairly certain this is a bug, but I don’t know how far back in saved games I have to go to get to a branch that will let me complete the game on the Huana side. Has anyone encountered this? Since no one else (per Google searches) appears to have posted on this before, I doubt it’ll be fixed soon, so I’m probably going to hold my RPer nose and pick a different faction to finish the game for this playthrough. On my next playthrough I’m planning to make the watcher a Huana; I’ll definitely go visit the watershapers earlier and see if that helps me side with Onekaza. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Portraits II
Epimetreus replied to Amentep's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Here’s a quick pass at that; large size only. Sepia tone: Color: -
The AOE is really getting to me. I’ve given the weapon to Pallegina, and I basically have her run off to confront secondary targets while everyone else gangs up on a main target. Otherwise it’s constant friendly fire and plenty of those “one time cute, multiple times annoying” comments from your other party members about “hit me again, I’ll hit you back”. When used with careful positioning, though, it’s great.

Some advice, since you can't undo your decision: Retrain Aloth, let him take Mechanics and Stealth as his primary skills. ... Use him more as a shadow spellblade than a Wizard and you'll find that your multi-class decision won't feel quite as punishing. Fantastic advice. I’m doing something similar with my main-char spellblade, and it’s working quite well. I use a bit more magic than you recommend, but I think you’re spot on with recommendations for a companion spellblade.

I tried a battlemage (wizard/fighter) at first but wasn’t really feeling it, so I restarted with a spellblade (wizard/rogue) and I’m loving it so far - level 16 at the moment. However, I’m keeping all my companions single-classed so I can get unambiguous support - Edér as tank, Xoti as healer, etc. In the beta, I tried out a fully multi-classed party several times, and really liked it, but the content was limited so I knew what to expect. For the full game, I feel as though it’s safer to have straight-up support roles at least on my [almost] first run. That said, as I near the top power levels, I find myself looking wistfully at those two levels of spells I’ll never get to use with my spellblade. She’s incredibly effective, especially wielding Marux Amanth at its full potential, but I’d like to see what she could do fully powered. For that I’ll have to use Aloth, I guess. In PoE 1, I really enjoyed custom (hired) companions after the first couple of play-throughs. I’ll probably try a fully multi-classed party eventually. Or possibly *I’ll* go single class -probably wizard, maybe paladin - and have multi-classed companions. In any case, I love the flexibility.

These Blessings points are per-character, correct? In other words, you get the full set of Blessings points you’ve earned via achievements each time you start a new character/run-through. Nowhere does it explicitly say that they’re not a finite amount - spend them and they’re gone forever - but I want to be sure. Thanks!

Description: The head is not displayed in the Face customization screen during character creation. See screenshot: Steps to Reproduce the Issue: During character creation, I chose a male Wood Elf Rogue (Streetfighter) / Wizard (Evoker). Attributes are as shown in the screenshot. During Face customization, there were three Head options. The default was head 1, which showed the standard default male Wood Elf. When I selected head 2, it showed both heads 2 & 3 selected together, and the head disappeared from the display. Steps to Reproduce the Issue: During character creation, I selected a male Island Aumaua. When Class choice came up, I selected multiclass. For my first class, I selected Paladin (subclass Shieldbearer of St. Elcga). Result: 1) In the second-class selection screen, while class icons were displayed, and multiclass names were displayed, the first class name (Paladin) and the various second class names were not displayed. 2) In the Chosen First Class Details box, there was no text. Separately: The same thing as in 1 & 2 above happened with a female Mountain Dwarf Fighter (Devoted) on the second-class selection screen. Due to file size limitations, I can't upload that screenshot. Companion won't heal a wound despite repeated rests with food
Epimetreus replied to Epimetreus's question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
This workaround corrected the problem. Still a bug, but at least I can get past it without retreating 2-3 saved games. Thank you! -
Description: My default Mercenary Fighter has a single wound (Bruised Ribs). Repeated rests with food aren't healing him. Steps to Reproduce the Issue: The Mercenary Fighter was knocked out in a battle and rose with Bruised Ribs. I went to the Rest screen and added Hagfish to his food slot, then rested. After the animation, he still had Bruised Ribs. I tried again with Silverfish. Same result. Important Files: Savegames Savegame is included, with .txt appended so it's uploadable. Output Log Output log is too big to upload. System Specs Specs included as "DxDiag.txt". Screenshots Screenshot is apparently too big to upload in conjunction with the other files. However, it doesn't show much except that first wound on the character thumbnail. Panauala (EngwithanWaystationLevelOne) (7eb709ba-2ec2-4762-9f08-197d693218e1) (755590774).savegame.txt DxDiag.txt

Combat does not stop after opponents are dead
Epimetreus posted a question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
Description: Combat didn't stop after a fight with the Engwithan titan and a scarab. Steps to Reproduce the Issue: I initiated combat with the Engwithan titan (and a scarab joined the combat). Three of my party were knocked out; two remained standing. The titan was killed. The scarab was killed. Combat did not end; my chanter kept chanting, and I couldn't see a way to stop combat. Eventually I reloaded the quicksave from just before the combat. This time, things proceeded normally and combat ended upon the death of the opponents. Important Files: Savegames: I get an error trying to attach the quicksave from before the referenced battle: You aren't permitted to upload this kind of file. I renamed the file, appending ".txt", and uploaded that successfully. Output Log The output log is too big a file to upload. System Specs System specs are attached as "DxDiag.txt". Screenshots Don't have any. DxDiag.txt Panauala (PokoKoharaRuins) (7eb709ba-2ec2-4762-9f08-197d693218e1) quicksave.savegame.txt
