  1. Dunno where you're getting this ****. Fighting games are not just "pushing buttons". They are slightly more than that. They're "pushing the right buttons at the right time", a game experience which QTEs are a basic distillation of. You don't get "press X now", exactly, but there are cues that you read and respond to by pressing buttons. It's not an illegitimate sort of gaming experience.
  2. It's copyright stuff. Copyrights don't expire when a project dies off.
  3. Why not? You can play Super Mario Brothers and I'll play stuff that isn't afraid to try ****.
  4. Except for the whole choice / consequence thing. Whenever Heavy Rain comes up it invariably comes down to this whole argument. There is a degree of control over characters that allows me to confidently call this a "game". That it does not include traditional combat / inventory minigames does not, in itself, mean anything. You can make conscious choices (or mistakes) that impact the way the game plays out. There is very clear output based on the input of the player. What else is there? Call it a bad game if you want, call it a boring game by all means, but it's a game.
  5. As opposed to what? An inventory system, so when the guy has his attack you go to the inventory abstract screen, select your inhaler and click "use"? Now that's what I call gameplay. What about the fight sequences? Instead of the choreographed cinematic type things, they could have a normal DMC-style fighting system. Wouldn't that be fun? Except for the fact that having some woman in her underwear effortlessly whoop ass on a bunch of knife-wielding home invaders kind of deflates the tension. I have no idea what you're talking about.
  6. That feature was implemented to make the task manager selectable when in full-screen programs that changed the resolution of the screen. It should change the resolution when you press ctrl+alt+delete
  7. I always laugh to myself whenever people say that. The sort of game that Heavy Rain is (that is, not a strategy game or RPG) can accurately be reduced to "press the right button at the right time". That's all fighting games really are. Even then it's still funny to see people scrutinizing "you press a button... and then something happens" gameplay. In the same way it's funny to see people run into things they aren't paying attention to.
  8. That picture is 'shopped, if it wasn't already obvious. I think this was gone over many moons ago - basically the 4-eyed goggle design translates to better fidelity / utility than a 2-eyed version. Perhaps it has to do with the periphery of vision.
  9. In the PC Gamer article Sawyer suggests that the added reputation system will address that problem.
  10. The PS3 isn't as big of a loser as it used to be, recent iterations have minimized costs. But yeah, the $$$ is in the games.
  11. I wonder if the "more than meets the eye" thing with Raul means that the Reservation is in New Vegas. Not a whole lot to go on, but a boy can dream.
  12. It's also worth noting that Feargus mentions offhand that Obsidz and Bethsoft had been in talks to work together for several years, even before it was decided a Fallout title would be their collaborative effort.
  13. I haven't encountered a good many people willing to pay $360 for the privilege of playing Heavy Rain. I'd say that's a minority even in the people who actually know what the game is.
  14. Today in Brian Menze's poor judgment.
  15. It's probably a good idea to get as many people to pre-order as possible (hey Rorie, any idea when Steam will allow pre-orders? Or is that Sega's call?) As publishers really pay attention to those stats. I imagine the only real reason Sony's happy with Heavy Rain is because of the large number of pre-orders.
  16. See secondary thread title.
  17. concept artttt
  18. Firewalker DLC announced for late March. 5 missions in the Hammerhead (That's the new hovertank you get), all free to Cerberus Network people.
  19. From what I understand, leaving out engine-building time and all that, actual development of Fallout 3 wasn't much longer than New Vegas' planned schedule.
  20. I could possibly be there.
  21. Not in America, where Reality happens!
  22. These are the people who I've counted as June votes. I think it's everyone. Assuming it does indeed come out in June they will be in the running for a nebulously defined prize!
  23. The trailer is really excellent. The VA sounds really amazing, which puts this game higher up on my anticipated list than it was before.
  24. Odd that Oz is getting an early release date. Usually they get things later, no? Great news, though!
  25. Sure, if you never upgraded your class skill or researched biotic cooldown. At higher levels you can fire off pulls and throws at a rate of a little over one per second. Husk rushes can't even touch you.
