hm, okay, I went with 15/12/12/18/18/15 for now, but I think I will dump con to 8 then and boost Dex a bit. So, 15/8/16/18/18/15 I watched RPG Division's (think he's also here? dunno the name tho) vid about dragon summoner (even if the vid is old) and went with something like this, but yeah, also dealing a bit of damage would be neat. And, without dumping Con completely, I can still work as a second line melee for better positioning with offensive/CC (stupid cones). Res/Int/Per are must have stats for me always, simply for dialogues. Is the summon path Wurms -> Drakes -> Dragon good or are the Drakes really that bad? I named her Tarakona (maori pronunciation of dragon), so that would be optimal. Only, I am confused now about Beckoner. I thought it was a too heavily nerfed class now? But @Boeroer, you make it sound like it would be quite viable. Especially on top having only the summons cost more phrases...

hm, now I am really unsure what to do with him. The problem is, excluding Tekehu, all Vailians and all the 2 Priests, I don't think there is any char that would add party-wide buffs to my team (outside of scrolls), so I was inclined to go for Serafen for the few party buffs alone. Unless not having party buffs isn't as severe as it was in poe1? Mirke would be the obvious choice for a Principi char, as I like her pic and (by mildly spoilering) her voice as well. Or I just ignore that and go Rekke who is supposedly just as fleshed-out as a full companion. OR I keep the last slot open for switchers and just work with Eder, Aloth and Maia and try to work around not having a party buffer.

So, the first interaction with the Principi and Serafen made me think I will half-assed support them (primarily still RDC tho) and take Serafen along instead of Xoti, because anti-religious Watcher. But I couldn't find any builds for him? I would like him to be a support/CC build, of course still doing damage to generate focus (because how else), but I wonder if his WM mechanic changes much of the Cipher-base as to work around it. Wild Mage was never a problem for me in DnD games, so that is not the problem, I just wonder if - outside of this - he essentially plays like a normal Cipher or Barb/Cipher? Any build advice for him? Would a ranged Witch work? As I already have 3 frontliners (Monk, Eder Swashbuckler and Maia's bird) and can easily turn Aloth into another one if need be, I am not sure a fourth constant melee would make much sense?

looking at vids for the last hour, I think I will go with the Nalpazca Monk singleclass. Nalpazca over FF because I like the gimmick more easier to manage and more coolness factor xD Junkie Fists The World Wish there was any good showcase for Wanderer though, that would really interest me as well xD Should I actually go for 15/15/15/15/15/15 or would you recommend a different spread?

Haha, yeah, you not finding appeal in Monks is quite rare for this community xD Monk is considered one of the best classes here. And at least coming from poe1 I agree with that sentiment Shadowdancer and Wanderer are also cool class names though But a Stalker wouldn't be a bad approach I think too. Though I have no idea where I will get my heals from xD

So, yeah, the first interaction with Berath/Magran/Skaen/Woedica/Hylea made my Priest of Berath - or me - have an existential crisis pretty much. I hated all their guts... Now, I thought of going completely away from casterdom for my main, and instead going for 1 or 2 of my 3 favorite martial classes to micromanage (in poe1) and go into the Deadfire in Melee. As I want to be in melee this time, for Ranger I thought that Stalker should be the sensible choice, as I like position-micromanagement. Though Ghostheart would remove the danger of Bonded Grief (although I had not much issue with this in poe1). In that same vein, at least if combined with Stalker, Debonaire seems the best choice for a Rogue subclass. Singleclass - or with Monk - I would more likely tend towards Trickster, if only for Llengrath's Displaced Image and Gaze of the Adragan (getting it at level 19 sucks though). Deciding on a Monk subclass proves to be quite difficult to me. Helwalker seems pretty strong offensively but their defense would suffer whenever I have high Wounds. And combining it with a defensive multi (stalker or Trickster) seems counterintuitive as I WANT to get hit. Nalpazca gimmick seems pretty straight forward (and Zahua was just such an awesome character), so that would probably be my default choice... Shattered Pillar with Community Patch seems pretty simple. Could be especially strong with Trickster I assume? And oh boi, Forbidden Fist's gimmick should be the most micro intensive of those. That doesn't even bother me one bit, what makes me a bit wary about that class is the more or less constant self damage. How bad is it to manage that in actual combat? Mostly, I have no idea what subclass, and whether sc or mc, I should go for if Monk. Weaponry-wise, I would prefer 2 handed weapons over DW or shield, but I am open to suggestions still. My stat spread is somewhat set in stone though. Mig/Per/Int/Res will all be at least 15 (for dialogues), con and dex are more variable. With Berath's Blessing I could actually just do 15 across the board. Doesn't seem that bad of an idea I guess... So, again, any advice, tips or guides are much appreciated

Would Aloth, outside of spell spammage of course, make for a good Hunting Bow user? He has natural Metaphysics, so I thought of giving him Essence Interruptor once I have Maia... Not that I ditch his Tank approach. Just because Wizards are so versatile, I thought to use him as whatever I need. Spell Spammer, low-micro ranged unit, tank.

Portraits V
SirMirrorcoat replied to Amentep's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Anyone has a nice portrait that fits with the first female Death Godlike head? I couldn't find any... -
Thanks, so I don't need to worry too much for now. Yeah, Cipher is a big question mark for me. Didn't like it too much in the end in poe1 after all (missing sucks - or maybe it was GM in particular), and I have yet to find a single Vailian person I like, thus I will try to work against them every chance I get, so Ydwin is a no. Serafen I don't know anything about aside from a Wild Mage style mechanic. Maybe I like him enough, I dunno yet xD Orlans and pirates are cool, so... Also Barb/Cipher could be cool, because less missing I assume And Wizard can work as a tank?
-
hm, maybe I make a Maia replacement for that until I get her xD Essence Interrupter is expensive though... Quick followup, how important is Brilliant Inspiration late game with a full party? Because I don't think I will have a reliable source for it in my prefered party... Roleplay would probably prevent me from getting Wit of Death's Herald (avoiding passionate like the plague), or is there an item with AOE Brilliant that I missed reading? Also, Aloth as a pure Wizard can still work as a tank if need be, right? like in poe1? I know that there are finally enemies with Arcane Dampener, but outside of those. I read that the summoned weapons aren't as good anymore, but the defensive spells hopefully still are?
