  1. As the title says. Did some searches but didn't find anyone else reporting this problem. All mods come from the Nexus, no Steam workshop files.
  2. I wonder how long it's going to take most modders to get their mods up on the workshop. Is anyone planning to just stay on the Nexus?
  3. Just because you believe it to be true doesn't make it factual. Specific or not, your evidence is colored by your opinions of it. Well I'm not interested in giving a long list of the exact things that could fix the game. My evidence of my opinion is just as valid as yours, which I already gave. D:OS 1 and 2 both do a great job of making encounters challenging without having to conserve or manage meta resources between encounters. There's more than one way to make a game challenging. Judging by the popularity of mods to make per rest abilities into per encounter I'd say I'm not in the minority on finding it tedious. Deadfire drastically overhauled the combat system, and probably in a large part due to the data Obsidian collected about how people liked playing the first game. Again though, there are more ways to make encounters matter than just adding resource management. D:OS manages to make most encounters something that is both masterable but still requiring your attention and tactics to avoid an embarrassing death. There's another aspect of this discussion I think most people in this thread haven't talked about. Those of us that actually want the game to be an even bigger challenge are in the tiniest of minorities. By and large people nowadays do not play games to be challenged. They play to be entertained and feel empowered. Like it or not, we are not the audience that will earn them enough money to be successful. The devs have probably spent more time on PotD's difficulty than they ever planned to at this point. Thankfully there are mods to go the rest of the distance for the small number of us that want it.
  4. So you are of the mind that without meta resources to manage like in PoE1 you can't make a challenging game? Cause I don't agree. The resource management only added tedium to PoE1. Making challenging encounters comes more from creating better enemy abilities and behaviors. The Divinity: Original Sin games managed this pretty well. Unfortunately I think it looks like that's more work then Obsidian is going to invest in the game. That's judging by their habit of buffing things by a flat amount for PotD.
  5. If PotD still isn't hard enough for you there's Deadly Deadfire, which mostly increases the cap on enemy scaling.
  6. Have you checked the combat log to make sure you aren't getting Grazes? A graze attack halves the damage of the attack and any effect durations. Status effects are often rolled for separately so you can hit or even crit with the main attack but then graze on the status effect.
  7. Just curious, what bugs are those that you mention above? I haven't heard anything about that anywhere else. Also note that the Deadfire Pack never really worked right on the PC, several problems with items, these problems are discussed at length in other threads. Therefore deemed not worthwhile by many so they probably decided not to infect the console versions with it. I'm playing on the PS4 as I have no desire to hunch over a keyboard/mouse only to peer at my tiny party on a small screen. The game is absolutely beautiful on the PS4 with a 60" Bravia monitor. The inventory manipulations on the PS4 are not tedious at all to me, but as a PS4 savant I'm very proficient with the controls. I'm halfway through Act III planning to end the game at the same time DOS2 is released on consoles at the end of August. Then by the time I get done with DOS2 this holiday season, the console Deadfire will be released. Various things, some minor and some bigger. Like in the first cutscene in Gilded Vale there are 3 bells that are supposed to ring that do not play. So when I played it on PS4 the npcs are talking about bell rings that you never hear. The load times are a much bigger issue that the PC doesn't have. The Deafire bugs and balance issues have all be fixed on PC pretty much. Also there were some balance changes to the base game that the PS4 version doesn't have. So there's no good reason I can see not to give console players the final game patch.
  8. well just to clarify obsidian doesnt support the ps4 version at all as for as i know. Another dev team did the port for paradox poe1 publisher. Deadfire PS4 is being done through versus evil i believe. Yes, and that same developer is porting Deadfire to PS4 now. PoE 1 hasn't been updated on consoles since October of last year, and isn't current to the PC version. It's also missing content such as the Deafire pack.
  9. Tried Pillars on PS4, I'm playing on PC now in a PotD run with companions. Companions on PotD: Companions can handle PotD difficulty just fine, but you do want to put some thought into how you're building out your party for synergies. I'd say at least one tanky character, one back up tanky character, 1 or 2 for Crowd Control, and some good damage output, both single target and AoE. There's enough characters to fill this out nicely. Using choke points or single pulling (peeling off) monsters is highly recommended. Even so be prepared for some unexpectedly hard fights. PS4 vs PC: Honestly PC version is way better here. The PS4 version is good, and they really did a good job on the controls for the most part. But using the inventory is tedious because it involves a virtual mouse. Also the PS4 version has some bugs the PC version doesn't, is behind on content updates, and seems to be no longer supported in favor of the upcoming Deadfire PS4 release.
  10. Went ahead and took the plunge. Used Patchworks Launcher to patch a few bug fix mods into your adjusted file. I have not encountered any errors or crashes so far. I'll keep you posted if that changes I guess. You should really upload your final release to Nexus Mods. There's no other stronghold mods out there.
  11. Can I use the Patchwork Launcher to patch over this file to add other mods to it? If not, could you make a version of this file compatible with the Patchwork Launcher?
