  1. I agree with a lot of what has been raised here. If a paladin had a 1vs1 fight with a fighter the fighter would win easily I think beacuse of the fighter talents unbending and unbroken. Unbending is an incredibly powerful ability that doesn't get mentioned much on these forums. The fighter can also dish out higher damage due to weapon specialisations. Paladins are still fun to play with though, I have managed to be able to build them to there tank/ buff role with limited success. I can't build barbarians that have any real relevance yet but I'm still trying. Its not a one on one arena match, its a team based game. On a team a Paladin brings so much more that it is incomparable to a Fighter. Enemy Fighters are tough to fight because they are tough to kill. Even on PotD I don't find my parties in serious death struggles where I need a Fighter to go to that extreme in order to survive the encounter. All of the extra survivability of the Fighter is wasted as it is hardly ever needed. Meanwhile all of the team enhancing abilities of the Paladin are used every encounter in order to improve the efficiency of the team and manage the team's resource usage. If the game was balanced such that only a team buffed Fighter could survive an encounter Fighters would be much more useful, even necessary, but the game would be much worse as you'd need to follow the one true optimal team in order to play rather than the multiple paths that the game allows which can all be successful. Yeah obvisouly a paly is more of a team player. But he is a front line team player first and foremost and a fighter outshines him in that role and a priest outshines him in the buffing role.
  2. If this advice helps: I usually play POTD with 2 tanks (fighter/pally) a rogue and 3 casters. I found the casters to be very effective at buffing and crowd control. I did not find the casters to be capable of dishing out big amounts of damage. This was a problem because after I had controlled the mobs, say with confusion/ slicken / charm spells the only class capable of taking the bad guys down quick enough was the rogue. So my play style was basically position my 2 tanks (both with shields) try and control the battlefield with the casters and then hack them to death with my rogue.
  3. I read through everyone's replies. Thanks for the feedback. From my personal experience all I can say is that I don't play Druids anymore because relentless storm just trivialises most encounters. It's fun at first but gets pretty boring pretty quick.
  4. I suppose you have checked the correct place? AddItem grimoire_high_lvl_ninagauth 1 Yeah I checked the right place. I had to start again from an earlier save before I entered white march. Bizarre bug.

  6. I encountered the two ghosts on the other map that talked about the missing spell book. When they finished I search the area and did not find that map where the black pages are supposed to be. I went to durgans batters where the black pages are supposed to be and it's not there?... I have no idea what has happened, I have mechanics of 12 (with gloves of manipulation) and even up to 15 with a scroll. What goths me is the map wasn't there. Does anyone no how to fix this or tell me what the console command is for the blacks pages, Thanks
  7. I've read on these forums a lot of people saying that warbows are best for building focus. Because of this I rolled a cipher on my last play through though I swear that I did not gain as much focus compared to using an arquebus. What do you guys think is the best focus building ranged weapon? And have you tried the quick switch build cipher? Switching through weapon slots with firearms? Is this worth it?
  8. Hardened veil, citzals spirit lance and alacrity. That's insane. More powerful then a preist with minor avatar and abydons hammer
  9. I've had a good luck at trying to make a melee wizard work. It looks quote doable but what is holding me back is that I kept coming back to the same opinion that a wizard would be much better off on the back lines of combat throwing spells out of melee range. Can you guys give me some feedback on what a melee wizard is like if you have ever played one and your opinion also on my above conclusion I kept coming to. Thanks
  10. I do use devotion fairly often, probably 35% of encounters. It is a very powerful buff. Your entire party basically instantly becomes far better at offense.
  11. Have you tried amplified wave post patch 3.02? The radius has been nearly halved, the prone time reduced and the damage reduced. Amplified wave is now very balanced. The spell that in my opinion is currently the most powerful is relentless storm ladies and gents. Call to slumber and shadow flame also get honourable mentions.
  12. How long do you think before it will be released? Since they are using the same engine as pillars 1 I'm hoping not long.
  13. Thank god you didn't create a new thread because there was about 10 words relevant to POE 2 in that interview.
  14. We'll c'mon what do ya reckon? For me.....well let's jus see what you guys say.....
  15. Hmmm this is a bad design... Yeah the highest damage per second weapon in the game is drawn in spring wielded with 3 intelligence. Haha. That's hilarious.
  16. Wizards are better at crowd control then Druids. Fact Priests are better at buffing Druids... aren't... a... one trick poney.Druids... don't... need... Relentless Storm. Nerfing it would only drop them from Wizard-tier to Cipher-tier at worst, or probably just make them have a bit less pure casting capacities as other casters. It wouldn't... wreck the class. All other druid spells and builds won't become useless because a single spell got weaker. Wizards are better at crowd control then Druids (minus storms). Fact Priests are better at healing then Druids. Fact Priests are better at buffing then Druids. Fact Wizards are better at ranged spell damage then Druids. Fact. Druids have storms and that's about it. Don't get me wrong I wish they had more but they don't.
  17. I think what differentiated baldurs gate 1 from baldurs gate 2 was the depth of bg2. PoE2 needs more depth in whatever city they choose for it to be based in. The main city in pillars 1 was extremely lacking in adventure and fulfilment eg just a few meaningful encounters on every map in the city. Obsidian need to let the character build an empire in pillars 2. We want power and power and more power. All the useless talents upon level up for selection need to be eradicated. Magic needs to make a return. Give the spells and magic items more creativity so we are amazed at what they can do. You can do this obsidian. Pillars of eternity 1 is far better then what baldurs gate 1 was....................... ............but no where near as good as baldurs gate2. Now is your chance for redemption. Good luck
  18. Hopefully won't take to long to develop as they have already made the unity engine. I'm hoping for end of year release.
  19. I have found all the magic items in pillars of eternity to be incredibly underwhelming to be honest. One weapon only slightly differs from another and it is like this with other magic items aswell. The soulbound weapons are an absolute joke. The 10% proc on a hit is useless. My dream items would be magic items that had more omph. Eg ones that actually worked.
  20. I don't dump anything anymore. I use to when I first started playing and I learnt the hard way. Like you said what ever stat you dump you just compensate for it by filling items in your available stats that boost the stats you dumped. This is of course at the cost of increasing the stats that you would have increased had you not dumped them.
  21. Druid currently is far and away the most powerful class because of relentless storm. I think you would find Druids far more fun to play if they weren't a one trick poney. But yes I completely agree if it wasn't for relentless storm they would be useless and I would never use them But I would never use them again anyway because they break the game with relentless storm
  22. Min maxing of all stats is over- rated apart from intelligence for casters and perhaps dexterity aswell. Might stacks as an additive modifier. It DOES NOT increase your overall damage by the percentage you are given. Constitution should be left alone on POTD . Dexterity increase is the most important on non casters. Perception increase helps but not essential Intelligence increase is FAR AND AWAY the most important stat to increase Resolve increase helps but not essential Like I said min maxing is not that important. You will end up with a lot of accuracy and deflection late game as long as you don't dump per and res
  23. Torment uses pillars unity engine so it is relevant to this thread. To be honest I was expecting it to be like a pillars of eternity with a twist. It certainly isn't. It is more like a strategy game with a FAR slower combat system. I don't no if I will play it again. I can't be bothered going through the countless puzzles and riddles in it.
  24. Has anyone else downloaded tides of numenera early access? I did today and to be honest it sucked pretty bad.
