Dual wield highest dps weapon
Kingsman replied to Kingsman's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
How do you know it increases the base damage of bittercut? I can't find any evidence that I does this. It doesn't show up on the combat log at all and as far as I know there is no way in telling. Can you please show me how you came to this conclusion? -
Dual wield highest dps weapon

Hey I built this, using bittercut and spirit of decay. Spirit of decay doesn't seem to be increasing my base damage? When I check the attack log it usuall says something like John Doe hits xantrip for 28 corrode damage + 9 corrode damage. And it doesn't even say that I hit the xantrip for 37 total damage it's just says " xantrip hit for 28 corrode damage" Confusing. Anyone no what is going on? -

Dual wield highest dps weapon

If your playing a rogue accuracy will never be a problem and you will hit 99% of the time anyway. You can enchant rimecutter to legendary with wm2 expansion the accuracey difference is no where near 15. I honestly don't think unlabored blade Is in contention with this. I have heard the bittercut argument and I agree with that but the daggers base damage is to low for the additive modifiers to stack high enough. I honestly don't think unlabored blade would be even in the top 5 highest dps weapons, possibly not in the top 10. -

What happens when you dual with one fast weapon (dagger) and one average speed weapon battleaxe? Does the slower axe affect the speed from the fast dagger? -

I still think pergatory and resolution, dual bittercuts and dual rimecutters would considerably out dps the unlabored blade and vent pick. I have issues with procc weapons like unlabored blade, namely, the 10% proc for the fire bug on hit or crit is kind of misleading. If you look at it at a attack/ proc ratio it is more like you will get the fire big to go off 6% every time you attack with the dagger due to it not proccing on misses and grazes and I think the enemies still get a secondary save vs deflection again even after it's procced to miss the damage from it. So it will go off roughly one in every 20 times you attack with it. This is to unreliable for me I would prefer high damage per second weapons like the sabres and rime-cutter. The FOD from vent pick is also kind of misleading. A pally FOD will give you an extra 20 accuracy whenever the pally uses it. Since the vent picks FOD only procs after a hit is succesful you miss out on that extra accuracey. Not FOD at all really more like a strong fire lash, that can also be unreliable. -
Dual wield highest dps weapon

I tried unlabored blade and march steel dagger vs resolution and purgatory. The sabres literally obliterated the daggers. The base damage from the sabres is to high as it has a stacking additive effect. I think the sabres would seriously out damage unlabored blade and vent pick And whay would annilation on sabres only be 6-9 damage I though it increase damage by 50% -

Druid is the last truly OP class IMO. Storms wreck some serious stuff. -
Dual wield highest dps weapon

Bittercut may be better on a fighter who has specc'd up with all the sabre specialisations possibly due to it not being an annihilation weapon that would suit a crit hitting rogue. Interesting..........a fighter dual weilding bittercuts may be more powerful then a fighter with abydons hammer -
Dual wield highest dps weapon

Well, if Bleak Walkers are your thing, you can also pick Flames of Devotion, Intense Flames, Remember Rakhan Field and Scion of Flame. That is the true monsterlash in all its evil glory.Or you can have a monk with Lightning Strikes, Turning Wheel and Scion of Flames. Nowhere as much burst, but lasts for more strikes. EDIT: but then, neither of those are Rogues, so it was not much advice, right? Any advice is good advice, thanks. It looks like where down to bittercut, rimecutter or resolution as the highest dps weapon for dual weilding (duplicated with the mould) Can anyone confirm which one it actually is? Or does anyone have another weapon as a suggestion? -

By far the most powerful mob clearer in the game right now is the druid with his storm spells. The cipher was the best post patch 3.02 before amplified wave got nerfed. I wouldn't be surprised if the Druids storms get nerfed in the next patch. (I hope obs aren't reading this haha) -

That's sounds workable thanks. Is there any other talents to select for that build besides selecting spirit of decay and using bittercut? -

Bittercut? Really? Why is bittercut so good and what is the monster lash? -
Hi guys need your help please What do you think the highest damage per second weapon you can use for dual wielding is? I think it is either the sabre resolution or the battle axe rime cutter. I will be duplicating the highest dps for dual weild on my rogue for my next play through with the Hellax mould. Thanks heaps

Is a barbarian worth it?
Kingsman replied to Kingsman's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Ten complete potd runs denote that you have quite an experience with this game, which probably surpasses that of majority here. You ask this question of worthiness. Yet, already have a quite firm opinion regarding current state of the class: "The only useful talent he has is carnage. Now seriously I think carnage is a complete waste of time.", not to mention that it's a quite sith way to put. So what's your goal? If you are really interested in community opinions, ok. The barbs worthiness is situational. From a certain point of view, comparing barb with rogue is like comparing cucumbers with tomatoes. In the end it depends on the kind of salad you want to make. For example, my current (potd, ironman) party consists of: warbow cipher, blasting wizard, ranged priest, melee cipher. paladin main tank, and a barbarian, because of the great synergy he has with the rest of the group. It's kind of obvious, but I will list a few interactions: - barb squishiness is not a problem due to two ciphers with paralyzes and charms on per-encounter base. Not to mention the overall amount of buffs available to this party - painful interdiction + threatening presence, greatly reduce enemy will/fort, allowing for easier and longer stuns, paralyses and charms - above + brute force: is not just more crits, but more procs from stunning weapons; + Dire Blessing - barb does greatly benefit from might buffs and DR debuffs - barbaric blow / heart of fury + petrification - above + reaping knives - dragon leap + double echo - dragon leap + chained amplified wave - barb high endurance/health + pain link, if I'll happen to need it - ability to switch from frontline to mid with tall grass during passage blockings - aditional weapon versatility: stunning weapons / unlabored blade + non-bashing small shield / unlabored blade + dragon's maw - etc With ciphers I already have enough of single target damage. Dragons are not a problem with double disintegration. For ogre druids there is charm. And for melee ogres/eyeless there is paralysis vs will. So all I needed was lazy AoE vs hoards of easier mobs. Thus the last spot went to barbarian over rogue. And because the party is cc-heavy, it also went to barbarian over monk, as that one could potentially end often starving on wounds. TL.DR: in certain party compositions, barbarians actually are worthy. My goal to put it simply is to find synergies and builds with all classes that become powerful. I have found it with the druid with storm spells; rogue with insane dps: cipher with amplified wave: ranger with stormcaller; wizard with crowd control; priest with buffs. Fighters are quite balanced but fighter abydons hammer build is powerfull. that only leaves the barbarian as the last melee class. Because of this I have kept coming back to them to try and make them work but I always regret it and roll a fighter or a pally instead. Having said this I have not tried the barb with unlabored blade carnage build, how effective is this? Can I you guys share your thoughts on how powerful a barb build like this can be? Thanks -
Is a barbarian worth it?

Your all completely ignoring the point that I made about a rogue bringing down individual enemies quicker and therefore being hit a lot less where as a barb will dish out damage in a spread out type of way where enemies will stay alive as a group and all die at around about the same time, this will result in the barb constantly getting hit throughout this process. This is completely accurate. I have tried and tested this a thousand time. The game itself does not lie. I challenge anyone to try and prove me wrong in regards to this point I have made To further prove my point look at the way you play with your game style. You concentrate your damage of your group to individual enemies to try and bring them down quicker so less of them can attack you. The same theory can be applied to how a barbarian works. The computer AI thinks like this aswell. -
Is a barbarian worth it?

The rogue is less squishy then a barb and I gave a very clear explanation why in my opening post. Read it again:) -
I have replayed this game probably 10 times from start to finish on path of the dammed with a whole range of classes but every time in roll a barbarian I become greatly disappointed and cancel my play through and start again without a barbarian. From what I can tell a barb is a complete one trick poney. The only useful talent he has is carnage. Now seriously I think carnage is a complete waste of time. I will explain why in this following paragraph and I hope all the barbarian lovers out there will read it carefully before coming to there beloved barbs rescue. Take this analysis of a barbarian who is surrounded by three say ogres vs a rogue who is surrounded by three ogres: - the barbarians is built around dishing out damage to mobs (with reduced accuracy and damage) via carnage. So a barb vs three ogres will attack the three ogres and hopefully land secondary hits with its carnage abilities. - a rogue is built around doing extremely high single target damage via crits, sneak attacks and deathblows. This damage is reliable and almost never misses unlike the barbs primary attack and the barbs secondary attacks via carnage. - now there is an argument there on the barbs side that it may be possible for the barb to dish out more combined damage to the three ogres via its carnage ability vs the rogues singe target. This may be true but is proven flawed and I think fatal for one reason: the rogue will kill of individual ogres faster therefore leaving less ogres to attack back. For example while the barbarian is dishing out its damage equally amongst three ogres the rogues has already killed one ogre and is copping less hits as a result. The barbs carnage is almost all ways negated by damage reduction anyway. I've tried every possible way to make a barb viable but they just don't compare in strength to any other melee character. They are at the very bottom of the list for melee forward projecting power. Mainly for the reason i mentioned above. There is no point spreading your damage out amongst all your enemies if they won't die as quick as being targeted singularly.
-
I disagree. All carnage attacks are made with a negative 10 accuracy, this forces you to put points into perception at barbarians character creation. Barbarians require intelligence and also resolve, might, dex because they are melee characters. You just don't have enough attribute points available to do that.

Favourite Class and why?
Kingsman replied to chickenhed's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
The classes that I enjoy playing the most are Druids, rogues and ciphers. These are the only three classes that you can build to truly break the game. I would have said ciphers where the most powerful prior to patch 3.02 before they nerfed amplified wave but now Druids and rogues I think equally take that title. Druids because of the storm spells and I hardly ever encounter an enemy that can take on a dual weilding sabre or rimecutter rogue built for sneak attacks, cits and deathblows. -
I like the spell-striking effects. It adds a bit of variety to what the player can create themselves and makes for cool effects in game. St. Ydwen's Redeemer could simply have the overbearing property and a crushing lash, but to my mind it's a lot cooler when a Fighter wielding it periodically summons a pillar that does crushing damage and knocks enemies down. Obviously that's just a matter of personal taste though. I will agree that most of the WM1 ones were a bit underwhelming. Stormcaller is cool, particularly in the hands of a Ranger, and the Redeemer is great against vessels obviously, but the Greenstone Staff is fairly meh and I've hardly ever used Nightshroud. The upgrade process is sometimes annoying I'll agree, though I quite like having to go through it to unlock new properties of the weapon. You like spell striking effects soulbounds that work one in every 25 times you attack?
